UND-1

Since UND is joining the Summit League in 2018 I compared it to the MVC in MBB this past year. Granted, the MVC was technically down and won't always look like this but they might not ever have a 16th rank team again, either. Take out Wichita State (since they are probably leaving for the AAC) and you end up with an average Massey ranking of: MVC = 189 Summit = 199 (FWIW, UND is ranked 121) Is that worth flying every sport to tough locales? If Creighton and Wichita were still around an invite would be pretty cool and might actually be fairly lucrative.

Any smaller school that isn't directly in the MVC footprint would be a fool to join that league right now. It's only getting worse and is going to have to reinvent itself with a new "Wichita State or Creighton" to strike gold with. Are those schools really excited to send all their sports to Fargo? Probably about as excited as the Big Sky schools were about Grand Forks.

I demand it. Bubba is on thin ice with me right now after that Richmond loss. Jones sh*t the bed vs. Arizona. Don't even get me started on Brewster. I gave Berry a few months off (May-October) but the past six months have been a disaster.

Believe they have Sam King and Markell Pete working with them for this spring.

Would expect nothing less.

I would expect this same thing to happen with Craig Smith next year with him actually leaving. Why? Because all his transfers (4 of his top 5 scorers) are back so they will be good again and he will get a slightly better offer than Drake. Three of those transfers are gone after next year.

Nope, it was a complete, 100% coincidence. All of those things were happening no matter what.

Miles should know. He tried to move up way too fast without having any lasting success. Smith would have done the same thing.

Nobody said anything mutual. Just kind of funny how it worked out. All the tea leaves pointed to UND being outstanding in 2016-2017, I guess.

Hard to argue with the success UND has had as an athletic department since they selected a new nickname and finally put the issue to rest.

Moody also won't be asked to shoot in bulk once at UND. He can shoot, quick release. Needs to stop drifting when shooting off the dribble, though. Bad habit and hard to be accurate that way.

Do you really think he formally applied and then was told he isn't going to get an interview? Probably made a call and found that out.

Credit to Jones for making changes after that disastrous season: He always tried to build his program by bringing in high school recruits and developing them as players but a few years ago, he tried what he calls the “Freddy Hoiberg style.’’ He brought in several transfers from other schools and tried to mold them into a unit. As near as I can tell the meeting came up and Jones never told his SID that he could no longer make it on air. Does that sound plausible?

It's called promoting. Better have been a real urgent meeting. He would have been on the radio for 10 minutes, tops.

A call to let them know about the meeting may have been a good idea. But what do I know.
