This is one area I really hope to see a change. The best player should play, period. No more worrying about where someone came from or how old they are. Whoever performs gets the job. I quit listening to McFeely about 12 years ago. He is a talking head. He says things for ratings even though he doesn't believe them, ala Ed Schultz.

I'm not looking as much at overall record as I am at being competitive. There is no reason to get beat by thirty points. A 4-8 record with games being close 'til the end would add a lot IMO.

I swung by and saw a bit. 1st D looked very good. Can tell this is Bubba's brainchild as there are some new wrinkles and it was back to an attacking D. After 1st D it was bad, however. Concepts on O looked good. Definitely some pieces missing.

We did shovel. I think your knee was no good that spring so you might not have been there. I remember picking up the weight room, but not cleaning it.

So many things to argue about in the offseason. Wish football would just start already. For what it's worth, Lennon made us shovel off the field back in the spring of '05. Kind of a tradition now.

This made me think of the situation Gus Bradley was in. Went from DC/LB's under Babich and finalist for head coaching position at NDSU before being "demoted" to just LB's under Bohl. Obviously now the HC of the Jacksonville Jaguars. I would say it worked out OK for him.
