  1. SIU was also beating NDSU in the 2nd half when their starting QB got injured. Entire season done after that.
  2. Factor in that atmosphere with the fact that the DC, OC, and QB coach (probably would have been replacement OC) all left.....not where I'd want to be. Not coaching.
  3. 60% of the time, it works everytime
  4. The defense will change under Schweigert/Schmidt, especially in comparison to the D Mannausau coached. After Schweigert left, Tibesar took over. Tibesar changed/added his own personal touches to the defense which, IMO, were very good. Tibesar was aggressive and attacked the offense. When Tibesar left, we got the infamous Mannausau/Kelling duo. They couldn't quite grasp the scheme Tibesar had installed and "dummied" it down (probably why Tibesar is in the NFL and Mannausau/Kelling is....). Kelling, as the play-caller of the two, became ultra-conservative, essentially defeating the purpose of running a 3-4. To any ex-players, he would call Stack "Grapefruit" on 3rd and 9, so you understand what I mean here. Later, the defense was even further "dummied" down to accomodate younger defenders. Instead of "Grapefruit," the call would be Stack "Stud," placing the Stud OLB "on." The secondary would then make a day or noon check based on offensive formation. Gone were "Switch," "Tampa," and "Miami." My understanding is Kotelniki attempted to bring back the defense the way it used to be. However, I was not too impressed with the play of the D this season. Whether that was coaching or talent remains to be seen, but I got to believe if the defense is going to return to its former glory, the best one to get it there is Schweigert.
  5. Worth pointing out that the Attempted Murder charge was dropped to an Aggravated Assault (think typical fight) almost immediately. Media didn't cover that so well.
  6. Same sources that said Bubba would be named coach two weeks ago while you were drinking $1 shots of tequila?
  7. Someone who understands where I was going with this. Thank you
  8. I believe you are overthinking this. Who would step in and fire Faison? Who would step in and fire (or void) the coach? My questions were rhetorical. The answer is nothing would have happened except having a new coach here.
  9. I get that. What I'm asking is, why is the process there in the first place, and what are the consequences if the process is not followed? Dismiss who? So we hire Bubba or DeBoer three weeks ago, the State would come in and fire that person? Doesn't sound realistic at all.

    2014 Recruiting

Who exactly is getting these guys to commit? "Hey this is coach XXXXX from UND. Not sure if I'll be here next month but this place is amazing and you should come."
  11. Anyone know the consequences if the rules of hiring a coach are not followed? Seems interesting all these other teams can quickly find a coach but we have a "process." A rule without consequences is merely a suggestion.
  12. I thought we were announcing Bubba as the coach two weeks ago?
  13. Let's not forget the influence a HC has on an OC. Look at Caruso. As OC at NDSU, ran power twice then chucked it deep on 3rd and long. Got to USD and all of a sudden was running empty backfield with two TE's. Formations were innovative and unpredictable, averaged 45 ppg and 500 ypg. Lennon prefers to run the ball and play D. I wouldn't be surprised if he tamed down DeBoer a little bit.

    2013 Playoffs

Let me clear. Never did I say NDSU wouldn't be good. That is just a load of talent to lose in one year. Basically the core of the team for every single championship. Why I love the playoff system. By my eye, Towson and NDSU are clearly the two best teams.
  15. Split Fire Prevent. If memory serves me right, it was Kotelniki who called "Charlie" on that play and lost contain? The thing to remember is that at that point in time, zone-blitz schemes were a relative unknown. They worked because no one understood the scheme. Since everyone now runs some version of the zone-blitz schemes the Steelers created, it's not as unblockable as it once seemed.
  16. Watched NDSU-NH last night. Watching NW Missouri/Lenoir-Rhyne DII championship right now. The difference between the two is obvious. Can't believe we harken back to the days of our DII success to resurrect this program. UND/GF area has always bugged me. Think small be small. Meanwhile 70 miles south we have a university/town that dares to grow and be better.

    2013 Playoffs

The graduations of Brock Jensen, Ryan Smith, Crocket, Ojuri, Billy Turner, Grant Olson, Marcus Williams, the entire starting DL, and probably some others may slow it down. I'm not saying the cupboards are bare but that is a lot to replace in one year. Bohl knew what he was doing leaving now.
  18. If the hope is to recruit top talent to UND, I don't think Schweigert is the man for the job. He is good at the X's and O's, but not at getting the Johnny's and Joe's. This coming from someone that was recruited by him. Of course he was competing with the now Head Coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, so maybe it isn't a fair comparison. I just think the youth and energy that DeBoer brings would have a better impact on recruiting. For those wanting the traditional 3-4 defense that Schweigert installed, obviously DeBoer has the connections at SIU to bring that scheme back, or go a different way if he feels that is what is best.
  19. So you'd want to be on the verge of a third consecutive national championship and have your coach leave? I, much like what seems like a majority of the posters in this thread, would prefer to wallow in mediocrity with someone who is loyal to UND and will stick around.
  20. I'll let you continue to live in your own world. I'll stand by my statement that NDSU and UND would be found in violation of these same things.
  21. You are oblivious to reality. Both NDSU and UND would be found in violation of this as well.
  22. I'm not sure why the owners would be buying shots from their own establishment? If that's the case I hear you but gfhockey's post didn't sound that way. That's not true. She has been licensed since 1989
  23. Don't worry people, the individuals who we are counting on to up the salary of the head coach above $150k apparently drink $1 tequila shots on Tuesday nights. Surely nothing could go wrong. The fact that she has a law degree from UND tarnishes every degree from the law school. I guess sleeping around can get you places in life though.
