  1. Where did you see that?
  2. Reality is that when fans want to fire someone before the contract is up, they usually need to provide significant funds. The contract buyout is only a part of the overall cost with a coaching change. The hiring process can be expensive. I will bet you that $500,000 to $1,000,000 isn’t in the budget to do this.
  3. I believe we need to stay focused on one step at a time. There is only so much money donors are willing to give for buyouts.
  4. Points well taken. I believe the collective voice of fans like you will be heard. I’m not sure if money will need to be raised to move things along, but I wouldn’t be surprised. (I would guess $500,000-$1,000,000 would do it).
  5. I’m surprised how easy it was for so many to assume this is a photo of Bubba sleeping (it might be). I’m surprised how easy it was for so many to believe this is a team meeting (it might be). Considering how many derogatory referrals made regarding “cotton tops”, “white haired guys sitting on their fat wallets” and how we haven’t kept up with changes over time, no one seems to question the validity of the photo nor the accompanying narrative. I maybe made the assumption that most of you are more technically savvy than I and I believe that’s an accurate assumption. I looked at this and my initial reaction was similar. However, knowing how often photos show people we are photographing have their eyes closed for that split second gives me pause. Knowing how easy it is to photo shop people onto different backgrounds gives me pause. Knowing how easy it is to create advertising showing a person who has never been to NY on a corner of NY city with a stunning NY city background that doesn’t exist gives me pause. Put that together with posts by “long time follower but never previously posted” who claims inside information with allegations regarding how players and coaches feel, gives me pause. Lastly the photo when posted doesn’t actually say he was sleeping at a team meeting gives me pause. Before, some you waste time with misdirected comments, read closely what I posted so far. I’m not defending anyone. All I’m saying is this may be a photo with Bubba asleep at a team meeting, but it may not be. In today’s dysfunctional political climate the courts so far have protected the “satirical” websites that can post photos and statements that are false as long as they claim it’s satire. I would suggest that if you want change, focus on the lack of success on the field ( if we were undefeated or 8-1, no one would waste time with a photo that may or may not be accurate). What will eventually drive coaching changes ( you don’t need to repeat the rhetoric about not hiring DeBoer, multiple extensions, etc) will be the failure of the program to succeed. Unless we win out this season I don’t see us making the playoffs Deal with the issue at the end of the season. Just my opinion.
  6. I would argue that most calls are made by the OC or DC. The head coach oversees the entire operation and they usually inject their opinions and direction early in the week and during film sessions. The head coach may over rule certain calls or inject direction occasionally but most calls are the coordinators in most systems. Not all, some HC’s want to call their own plays.
  7. I’m not arguing. I’m not necessarily disagreeing. I’m asking you to clarify. It shouldn’t be that difficult. I don’t make excuses for others. Putting anyone who doesn’t join the repeated bashing isn’t evidence that they disagree. I’m looking for a little insight as to statements about a country club atmosphere. I’ve experienced what that can be like with Jerry’s world in Dallas. Asking someone for clarification isn’t making alibis nor excuses.
  8. I can promise you these guys aren’t ignoring the elephant in the room. They just aren’t going use their podcast to communicate with the decision makers.
  9. I’m referring to the 360 podcast. They have a following that allows those who are interested in UND FB to learn more about the program and to get an insight from someone who excelled at every sport he played and played at UND. He has connections that most of us don’t. His criticism of the program will likely remain private. I have no issue with those who want to publicly criticize. In my experience, the public bashing, personal insults etc. get people nowhere. However, I don’t think we should expect the same type of criticism from their program.
  10. No. You have made general statements without explanations. Are you referring to staff, fans, athletes, supporters, what/who??
  11. Those guys do a nice job with a podcast to generate interest and support of the program. Although they don’t take a negative public stance, you are mistaken if you don’t think they are frustrated and upset with our lack of success over the past 10yrs. To bash the our athletic programs publicly hurts our program and subsequently can adversely affect recruiting, and support both financially and otherwise. That isn’t the purpose of their podcast.
  12. Absolutely. If the coach is the problem (some say the failures are entirely on him), then a new coach is all that’s needed. I believe we aren’t that far from having the personnel capable of winning so I don’t want to lose guys to the portal. Too often, teams lose a number of their best or potentially best players to the portal, so yeah, I think it’s a bad thing. Losing the next 3 games is also a bad thing. Regardless of coaching change, these players need to play up to their full potential and establish a “winning culture”. It’s not easy once you accept losing as OK for any reason.
  13. Alumni are already pissed. Started before today.
  14. Where do you get the stupid idea I don’t have a problem with our performance this season? If so, you aren’t very perceptive. If you feel better saying the same thing over and over again have at it. I don’t like or dislike it. I don’t care that much I don’t see the point.
  15. That’s not what I’m saying indirectly either. I’m not comparing his future play to anything. Geez buddy, you’ve made your same point regarding the program, coaches, admin, expectations, culture, over and over again. It isn’t whether or not people disagree with you, but what’s the point in stating the same rhetoric multiple times in the same thread? Some of us try to follow from out of town to get a perspective that guys at the game, or those who stream it, or can watch on TV get. Even the casual fan can see the issues the program has been having the past few seasons so you really don’t add anything posting the same comments multiple times in multiple threads. None of what any of us, including you and I, post on a fan site makes a bit of difference to the decision makers, nor should it. Make an appointment with decision makers, send a text, email, send a letter whatever, if we want changes made. If enough fans do that it has an impact. Anonymous communication is ignored. Just my nickel’s worth.
  16. ISU believes if they win out, they finish 7-5 and a shot at the playoffs. UND needs to come in with the idea they need to get much better especially the front 7 on defense and the oline offensively. I watched the Youngstown-USD game and it was obvious they were very capable, especially offensively. I would have assigned the quickest/fastest LB that can tackle, as a “spy” for their QB the entire game and moved him all over the field pre-snap in a 3-3-5 lineup with that LB as the “wolf “. I would consider the same tactic if the ISU QB is causing our run defense problems. Might be too late to incorporate that if they haven’t worked on it. The 3-4 or 3-3-5 are both utilized by smaller, quicker teams but if you can’t tackle or put pressure on the qb, it doesn’t matter what alignment you use. This game and the remaining games on our schedule are winnable but we need to be at the top of our game. Go Hawks!
  17. If Trey excels at St. John’s then I’m not so sure. If he doesn’t, then yes. I would bet if he has an oline to protect him, he will do very well.
  18. Could be although, I’d be surprised if a HS coach of Kevin’s intelligence and experience would say a player is promised a starting position. Most players are smart enough to see that as a big red flag and Kevin would have seen that as a red flag. What coaches tend to tell kids is that they believe they have the ability to take over the starting job in whatever time frame as long as they continue to improve, do what is required in practice, weight room, classroom etc. That’s the same general speech athletes hear when they want more playing time etc. Having said that, I hope non of our coaches say anything stupid like that. I remember Danny commenting about how well Romfo performed in practice and how they “need to figure out a way to get him on the field”. I strongly felt that if the competition between Feeney, Romfo and Kaminski was that close, it should have been Feeney’s job to lose. He was the only one with much playing time and had done well when given the chance. I also think (no evidence) that there was a lack of communication in how this was handled. One of the biggest mistakes teams can make is for players who put in all of the work year after year feel they are no longer an integral part of the program. That ship unfortunately, has sailed. I understand that an athlete with Trey’s history of success isn’t going to finish his career as a backup. He loves the game and wants to play.
  19. Length of grass should be at the direction of the head coach depending on whether he or she wants to slow pace of play. If the demand is artificial turf, that isn’t a legitimate complaint as long as the field is properly tended to. Having a physician on the sideline isn’t necessary as long as you have an experienced quality athletic trainer. With soccer, the most important, potentially serious injury would be a head or neck injury. A serious neck injury is extremely rare. A concussion is not uncommon. There is no reason to allow any player with a questionable concussion to return to play. Concussions without other neurological deterioration, don’t need emergency evaluation. An athletic trainer should have the appropriate training and experience to evaluate concussions. A mid-level provider, Physician’s Asst (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), with sports med and/or Sports Med experience would be a good idea for Men’s or Women’s soccer. They could provide supervision for the trainer and suture lacerations on the sidelines if necessary. Restrooms on the sidelines would be rare. Restrooms close by are reasonable. The rentable trailers with sinks, mirrors, private stalls that many outdoor weddings/events have for all home soccer games dedicated to the team should take care of that complaint.
  20. My insight is simply that if the coach and team have fun with it who cares? That we have fans who don’t like it is irrelevant. We aren’t part of the team and I’m pretty sure players and coaches don’t care what we think about it. Yeah, I really believe it’s a portal issue though.
  21. You have a good point. Make sure the team is fired up AFTER the game. Maybe that’s why we lose guys to the portal. They transfer to a school where the coach does a pole dance.
  22. Frankly, I doubt any of the “geezers” give a rats behind.
  23. Agree. All that does is get some of the backups fired up to stand for the national anthem. At this level, players should be prepared, intense and mentally focused on their assignments and how they are going to dominate their opponents. Each player does that a bit differently and I believe the captains/seniors/team leaders should lead the team onto the field. Those are the guys who have to keep the energy level up every time they run onto the field throughout the game. No coach has ever won a game before the national anthem.
  24. See Burd’s response.
