This kid is the real deal. Offer him now. Sheds blockers quickly and gets to ball carrier quickly. No reason to delay an offer. Gophers should be interested.

At their indoor conf meet this week this kid won the 60 meters (7.33 sec), the 200 meters (23.8 sec), and placed 2nd in the 60 m hurdles (9.11). For a kid that size that’s pretty impressive. It will be interesting to see how these times improve in the outdoor season in the 110m, 200m and high hurdles. Good get to start 2025 recruiting.

I drove up to GF to watch the scrimmage and get a free donut. The QB’s threw the ball well. Feeney got picked once but receiver might have knocked it down. Otherwise he had a good day. Kaminski missed on a slant pattern but through a TD on another. Romfo had more pressure from DLine but also threw the ball well. They all threw the ball well in drills. Hentges (transfer from Mary) didn’t get through his reads as fast but also threw well. Our receivers looked good but we didn’t really try many deep throws. My biggest disappointment in the passing game was despite a new OC it doesn’t seem we realize the TE is an eligible receiver. Zeibart and Seidel were held out. Donovan Hunt is quick and accelerates quickly. We need to hang on to him and get him involved in the offense. Oline looks big. Couldn’t tell much cuz it was a scrimmage whistles blown early to protect QB’s. Grant Romfo was the workhouse RB during live running game reps. Most plays were inside runs. Defensive line kept running game bottled up for the most part. Secondary looks much better. Receivers weren’t running free. LB’s looked to be reacting quicker. FG guys decent distance but must be more consistent. Punting was nothing special. I’m sure there were some things I missed. Overall I wouldn’t be pessimistic but we have to get a lot better over the summer.

UND (8-5) vs. St. Thomas (8-5) 12/29 @ 7PM

Great observations. Shows insight and knowledge of the game. Appreciate the post. -
Not necessarily just 2024 but I saw that Josh Morton has Augustana contracted with a company called “Athletes Thread” which contracts with athletes for NIL merchandise. It looks like the athletes arrange the contract and the company makes clothing/jerseys etc which can include school name/logo on the merchandise. I didn’t review details but looks like a good option for NIL and much cleaner than what seems to be happening in many places.

I’m not making excuses for the FB program. My comments have nothing to do with our FB program. Like you, I wondered why anyone would go there. I wondered if there might be NIL money. It’s not that complicated. I thought your name was Francis based on your posts. Sorry.
-
Those guys have lots of money. Money is a big part of recruiting. It’s the only reason I could think of that might entice someone to go there. Lighten up Francis. It has more to do with recruiting than some of the nonsense posted on this thread.

Duck Commander is located in west Monroe. The Robertsons are big FB fans.

Vigen is a good recruiter. They were successful during his time as OC. That is a better measurement of success than a fan forum. I think Hedberg also deserves a lot of the credit for QB development.
-
Fortunately, they won’t have to face live bullets. Coaches play kids they think will give them the best chance to win. Fans may not agree with coaches decisions, but coaches who play favorites or make promises to recruits regarding guaranteed PT won’t last. No matter what we think of our staff, I don’t believe that would be a concern.
-
Good HS player. Doesn’t look like he played at Marshal. Buried on depth chart. We already have 3 guys who were outstanding HS players, and Feeney has played well when given PT. If we can replace the OL guys so we can protect our QB and run the ball consistently, I think we are OK at QB and can score points. I’d be surprised if he would be more than a depth guy, but who knows. We have lots of holes to fill on defense. If we can play defense, we create offensive opportunities. I’m more concerned about OL and our defense than QB.

When Hal is there he is great about greeting guests and making sure they have a good time. Hash browns are a must. Salmon always good but hard not to order a steak.
-
Harry’s is outstanding. Toasted Frog offers some unique options and always good.
-
You obviously don’t know the person you are addressing or you probably wouldn’t use the word ignorance. Leave stupid judgements like that out of your posts and you have valid points.
-
I think most understand that. Try acknowledge it and move on. It makes for healthier debate.
-
You are correct. Unless we want to keep bitching about not hiring a different coach 10 yrs ago then it’s ok to kick that dead horse forever (and forever evermore). That would be ok.
-
As you are quickly learning first hand. Have fun.
-
I think one other reason is guys who want more playing time or an O or D scheme that may offer more opportunities for someone with their skill set. (TE who wants to be part of a passing game or a WR who feels they can stretch the field or get open on crossing routes).
-
Yeah but he can interpret the message sent. It’s easy to see when someone is mad, disappointed, excited etc but it’s a stretch to think we can tell what they are thinking.
-
You actually believe that you and others in the stands can interpret a FB player’s body language? In addition you can tell that a guy (one of our best if not the best player) announcing he is returning to UND does it by taking a shot at his departing teammate.
-
And what number are you hearing?

It’s not quite that simple. Most businesses aren’t subsidized by tax payer dollars in the same way as college athletics. Most business employees don’t get free housing, health care, training, board and travel expenses subsidized by taxpayers. Depending on the school, the amount subsidized, differs significantly as do the schools sports revenues In addition, no business will survive long for paying an entry level employee 6 or 7 figures while not paying others a fraction of that or not at all. Businesses have clients and customers who have a recognizable return on their investment more valuable than bragging rights based on the accomplishments of others or incorporating a part of our identity based on an athletic team. Most college athletic teams provide an opportunity for athletes to compete in their sports while getting an education. It is an important source of entertainment for students, alumni and the communities where they exist. It is a vehicle for schools to maintain and foster relationships with alumni which can lead to donations to the university often for academic scholarships or non-athletic endeavors. It is a great tool to market the university. Previous research showed success of athletic teams is a positive factor for enrollment. Your thinly veiled shots over time at “older people” shows a lack of understanding of life’s experiences. Those with experience frequently can bring a different perspective for consideration that often can save a business a lot of money and prevent mistakes. There needs to be a healthy balance with decision makers so businesses and organizations don’t become stagnant because those with experience are uncomfortable with change or haven’t stayed current with demographics of their targeted clients/customers, technology, economic changes etc. It would be a mistake to assume older men and women are not keeping current with those changes as the business evolves. Those business concepts are just as important for colleges and universities. I don’t have issues with athletes earning whatever they can garner from NIL. I have an issue with the NCAA turning a blind eye to the schools/supporters setting up funds specifically for recruiting and dispersement of these funds orchestrated by the school. If schools operate under the rules and guidelines of the NCAA they need to enforce and abide by the rules. Otherwise stop the BS and let the schools collect and disperse the money without scholarship or other financial limits. New scholarships can be whatever wants to dish out. The kids should have to seek their NIL endorsements and arrange their own contracts. That would be closer to how most businesses run. If they are going to make a living playing sports they need to learn how to do this.
-
I think this is a better option for you. Although I stated that I wouldn’t spend $500,000-$1million to buy out a contract with only 1 year left, I give you credit for being willing to put your name with your opinion.
-
Good one. I wonder if the guy who played college BB ( not sure if it was intramural BB or maybe even Duke) has info. Either way, he may have an insider perspective on how his school is dealing with their BB recruits regarding NIL.
-
It is an Alston Award type fund. The last time I reviewed, schools could award almost $6000 per year above the scholarship/expense money. It is awarded to athletes based on criteria including academic performance community service etc. It is my understanding that schools aren’t to be involved with NIL funding. I haven’t bothered to review for recent changes.
