Good points. The first FG was one where you can't argue too much because we needed points. I thought we would go for it. The second one the problem was the HB pass. I don't think we had given that look to them in the running game. Without seeing that, and with that being the only play Strouth was in on , I don't think they bit. Dale said on the coaches show he maybe should have done something else. Went to the game. Great Sioux crowd. Plenty of seats on the UNO side. A few plays hurt. Int. at the end of the half. Our receiver had some of his jersey stuck in the DB's hand and looked like he let up on his route to look for a call from the ref. Had he finished his route it may have been a TD but I doubt if it would have been an Int. cuz the DB made a hell of a catch. On the coaches show last night I watched it and it didn't seem as obvious. Tipped pass they got was big. Two phantom interference calls. One on Rory Manke when he tipped the ball away from the receiver in the end zone. He didnt' look back, but I was told there is no "face guarding" in college FB. Other than that it was a great play. Back judge who made the call, was the same one that threw his flag from about 30yds away on a "late hit" that was in front of the Omaha bench and there were two other refs right on the play who didn't call it. 2nd interference call was poor call with minimal contact that was probably initiated by the receiver and the ball was clearly OB. I would send a copy of the game film to the league. UNO had a great O-line and good QB. I would like to play them again who cares where. Great afternoon for FB. UND O-line did a very good job protecting Manke and opened decent holes for the running game. After the first series the defense did a good job. Not sure what happened to start the game. Good KO coverage, then three plays to get down the field.

Manke will play, we will win. Belmore held serve, good job.

Sioux MD is a new Dad. Baby girl. He should be home this month. What a stud!

The Gophers should be favored, but I think the Bisonies will give them a good game. They are capable of beating them on a given day. Ball State isn't a good D1A team and I think the AC coaching staff thought they could win the game. The Gophers are better than Ball State, but I would be surprised at a blowout and I would expect a competitive game. The AC is pretty good this year.

Yup and I like it. He is a senior (Jr. cuz of Medical hardship) and Chapell will likely get the same reps. Smart move for the program. The message is that if you put in your time you will be rewarded. I would also get Tom Loegering on the field for the same reason. Over the years we have lost too many kids who hang it up after a year, two or three because they don't get any playing time and don't think hanging in there until they are seniors will make a difference.. When those kids quit it hurts your depth and it eventually hurts your recruiting. These guys also tend to have leadership skills and can be valuable in bringing along your younger stars. I like what Dale is doing. At some point in time Chapell will start. Don't know if it will be this year, but Strouth has been a very good RB and worked his butt off to return from his injury. Chapell may get more carries in any given game but it won't matter who starts.

I believe the key is to prove the NCAA did not follow their own policies and take it to a member vote or something like that. An attorney close to the situation stated that is our best case to get this overturned and not to hold our breath.

Harold has been generous to UND over the years and was a very good friend of former FB coach Jerry Olson. His family has supported UND. I believe he is a Mayville grad.

Biggest reason in my opinion would be to play them in hockey and then get them to play us in WBB, MBB and FB there and here. We will need D1 games especially in the transition period and Army has a storied history and is still highly respected.

You can make a case for them because they are pretty good and the Gophers are not. Gophers should win but don't bet your house. (or in the case of the AC and U of Minn grads don't bet the double wide). I think the AC will play well and give the Gophers every thing they want and more. Pretty hard to predict a win because the AC hasn't played anybody. The Lutheran prep school from St. Paul they manhandled, got kicked by Augie Saturday so it is hard to judge how good they are. Good luck to them. If they can knock off the Gophers in FB it will give them something else to crow about for a couple of years and then those who have been saying how the Gophers will blow them away will be able to say the Gophers are not even a DIII caliber school so it doesn't count. Dave K will have to go to the AC thread and tell them he was wrong and offer to buy season tickets and enroll in one of the manure shoveling classes after hours or on line. They may give him credits for your previous work similar to AP classes. Dave K doesn't dislike the Bison radicals any less than I do but there is a time to let it go and be gracious. Don't forget to separate the media and the radicals from their fans. Have fun with them but when they come on and are gracious accept it with class. Their folks have done so and a number of them have been insightful in the D1 discussions. The only thing worse than a sore loser is a winner with no class. I hope Sioux MD didn't get court-martialed for firing off his weapon after the UND win Saturday. Find one of the Medics and have them clean that thing for you so it is ready in case you ever need it. Thanks for your service and Godspeed. For those who are Minnesota fans, the comeback against UNI was similar to one in the Mn HS championship in 2001 when Detroit Lakes kept coming back against Mankato East and won at the end of the game. QB was the same in both games and same comments were made about his leadership and keeping his cool. Also nice job by Belmore. UND didn't miss a beat with him in the game. Gotta get back to work.

Fastest receiver we have ever had was Norm McGee. National D2 sprint champ and qualified for the Olympic trials as a sprinter. He didn't have great hands. Strouth and Chapell may be the fastest pair of RB's we have ever had and this is one of the deepest backfields ever with Manke and Belmore at QB ( can both throw and run), Beatty Brady, Chapell, Strouth and Christianson at RB/FB. You would have to go back to 1972 with Mike Deutsch, Mark Belmore, Mark Walker and Bobby Helman with Billy Deutsch and Dale Kasowski as Freshman to find a comparable group. They didn't have the speed these guys do. Jay Gustafson and Bruce Daucsavage were good QB's but they were both slow (>5.1 40 times). Fritz Pollard in the 1930's had great speed and was an Olympian. I don't know how fast Red Jarret was but he was recognized as one of the best in the country before they had multiple divisions. Jacox and Martin were the other two I can remember with great speed. I don't think either of them were as fast as Dressler or Chapell. UND has had great receivers and good depth at receiver during the Lennon years and this group is deep as well. Big athletic O-line. This should be a very good offense.

You mean your young son made a Bison!

Don't be surprised if the Bison don't get smoked. The Gophers are not the Big Ten Power and the Bison are pretty good. I wouldn't be surprised that much if they pull off the upset. I don't think they will get blown out though.

Justin Knopf, a UND engineering student, was injured in Iraq Wednesday. Justin is from Detroit Lakes and was a teammate of 2 of the Manke brothers. One of his fellow soldiers, Josh Hanson, from Dent, Mn. (who I believe played HS FB at Pelican Rapids) was killed in the same incident by a roadside bomb. The news report indicated Justin's injuries were not life threatening. Justin also served a tour in Bosnia. This is the second interuption of his college career to serve his country. His fellow soldier Josh Hanson had also served in Bosnia. Please remember them in your prayers.

Great Day for Detroit Lakes. SiouxMD protecting us from Iraq so we may enjoy the freedom of Reed Manke throwing 4 TD's and his younger brother Rory with two INT's. Go Sioux.

Can't see missing any. The DL FB coach bought an old school bus and painted it green and white for the purpose of tailgating at Sioux games. We should be at every home game and maybe UNI. All are welcome. Your place after the games.

Sioux 48 CWU 10. Nice to hear from you. Slacking off in the warm sunshine I would assume. Check out the Hard Rock Cafe in Bahgdad. Great camel burgers. Send an address and I will see if there is anyway to get you a copy of the game film. Keep you head low, ( I forgot, it's always low) your flak jacket zipped and God-speed.

It may not make it back to DL. One of the two guys who was going to pick up the cost to get it here was just diagnosed with cancer and the owner of Shoreham is not longer sure it will get here. Too bad but still great for GF.
-
I think he is the choice of his teamates as they have elected him a captain. Belmore didn't have as good of a spring but he is certainly going to keep pushing for the starting job. You have to give him credit for handling the situation with class.

She is a senior this year so will be a freshman at UND next fall.

Corey Lof commited to UND this week.

I believe it will also be back to Detroit Lakes to Shoreham Hotel if I have been correctly informed. That will be twice in the same summer. First by one of the front office folks who have relatives here now by Mike.
