  1. Sorry about that. However, this is a non-UND hockey comment site, so focusing on UND is also not quite "right". Yeah, yeah two wrongs don't make a right, but It was just saving others the awful feeling of opening that site!
  2. First time on GPL in months (all year maybe?) but couldn't resist tonight. This Goofer loss was just too sweet. Here is a rundown of selected comments: Just to save the rest of you from soiling your computers!: Well, the players came back after losing in the title game last year and said they were on a mission. What they didn't tell us is the mission consisted of just showing up. To their credit just showing up nets you two banners from the Big 10 conference. After that they were done, mission accomplished. Yep, fitting end to the season.......when the road gets bumpy, we turtle....... Of course the rugged, hi skill play of the big ten really sets the tone for tournament play. This is what you get from playing in a weak conference. Playing in the Big Ten will slowly erode the quality of this program to average. Your not battle hardened in the Big ten like you were in the WCHA. Here's to hoping Cammarata defects this offseason, seriously question if he should be playing Men's or Women's I mentioned a few times the last several weeks that they weren't playing well enough to beat a top 16 team and got ridiculed. We hadn't played a top 26 team in over 2 months, and though we were winning, in no way we're we dominating. Not sure which was more difficult to watch? The butt whooping on the ice. Or, how small the crowd was at the Rink. If the game is not at the X, the NCAA looks foolish having 18K rinks 35% full. Gophers deserve nothing other than to receive their Most Uninspiring Performance of the Tournament Award What bothers me is little will happen in the off season. It'll be business is usual. Some new faces on the ice, same old excuses, happy with being contenders in a very average, unexciting conference, another quick exit in playoffs, look forward to next to season. Rinse and repeat. Now that its over, my focus will be on wishing UND a slow, painful death, hopefully before the Frozen 4. The only good thing about tonight, for me anyway, is that we didn't lose to UND. (feel the hate here?)
  3. As I quote a buddy at work today: "Those Gophers sure know how to dig deep holes to try to get out of, don't they?" Sweet.
  4. I found the game on the schedule for Fox college sports channel 315 for Midco (in SD- not HD) for tonight. So Midco will at least carry it....
  5. The refs tonight were #13 Krebsbach (1st year at college level-NCHC) and # 17 Walsh (9 years experience ? NCHC time).
  6. I asked the Box Office manager at the last game series. I was told they had to decide how to allow seat selections to occur first, then would notify. That should not take too long I would think.
  7. Watford A is unbeaten and league leading in ND Junior Gold hockey right now. (Watford B dead last). here is a link:http://www.ndaha.org/page/show/1495392-hs-boys-ndaha-2014-2015 Junior Gold teams are good Sioux fans from what I recall (years ago). Williston and Dickenson have Class A teams but they struggle mightily. They can beat each other and maybe one other... here is a standings link: http://ndhighschoolhockey.com/NorthDakotaBoysHighSchoolHockey/Default.aspx
  8. Been to Boston 4 times now, stayed both down by Boston Commons and outlying places using train to get downtown. Both work well, but if limited time, higher cost downtown may have to be considered. I also always go to Legal Seafoods on each visit. Walked the Freedom Walk 3 times now. Always stop at Union Oyster House (north end of Freedom Trail) for a lobster sandwich (Mmmm) too- oldest reataurant in Boston I think. Beware of the "Cheers" bar by the Commons- its not "the one". The real one was Bull and Finch Pub- which was closed for change to new business the last time I went there. I've never done outlying area travels, just down in the heart of the city.
  9. Back from the game. Missed Friday game live, saw on TV tho. Since Blaise hired Jutting 2 years ago, it seems the UNO team has converted to more of the WCHA-era Mankato goon play. Lots of after the whistle BS and during faceoff BS, and run the goalie BS. I liked it before when it was run and gun hockey.... like our team plays. I am not as "friendly-minded" about UNO as I used to be.... In fact tonight I was really anti-UNO it was so bad. Really don't mind physical play, but not this kind. Just sayin.
  10. Just a hockey fan, not very knowledgeable about the game details/strategy but it seems we did not include the D on our offense very much- if at all- back in the Parise/bochenski or the Toews/Oshie/Duncan eras. This fully involved D play while on O (and yet cover D too) is what we seemed to be missing back then. Oh, what could have been, with a D corps like this and those lines....! Should I thank Coach Barry?
  11. $2.89 at Fargo Costco today. Premium $3.24.
  12. Not sure where to put this but: Last year signed up for the CC games from CC and was able to get two connection in 2 different cities from one payment. NCHC TV kicked both off when we tried that last night. It did let one back on though. FWIW.
  13. I was called yesterday Oct 15 and I am just above #500. (thought i was lower, so several have out-donated me and dropped me back). If that helps.
  14. Though it was a loooong stretch, I was hoping the team would come out in the 3rd and salvage some respectability. Then they came on the ice and goalie C. Johnson had his stick checked out of his hand by a cheerleader waving the pom poms..... It really did not get better, but that spelled doom for me. That was one hard game to watch. Felt almost as bad as the BC loss in Denver I also witnessed.
  15. From Wikipedia: Ski-U-Mah (pronounced sky-you-ma) is a slogan used at the University of Minnesota since 1894. U of M Rugby captain John Adams who coined the phrase in 1884, had heard Sioux boys yell "ski-yoo!" when they won canoe races on Lake Pepin. He took that as the Sioux word for victory, or exultation. A co-captain added the "mah" to make it rhyme with "rah" and created "Ski-U-Mah!" So it is yet another COPY of Sioux lore by Minnesota. In other words, petey 23 is correct: Roll Terd.....
  16. Just back after the game, roads were really icy from Walker to Duluth today. Gothberg was absolutely the best I've seen him. We sat up over his left shoulder. Just great position, no let up on concentration this time. Overall very good D. Cant say great, as Mattson still cant stop shooting into his man (3 times at least), he's lucky that didn't cost us a breakaway. Off sides calls were brutal. Little Shep (brad) had to show he's a big man again with late game penalties by the dozen. It was chippy, but he just cannot see what is really going on. That last LaDue penalty call was so much a dive it was comical. Boarding maybe. A really good road game. Looking forward to another. D looks good enough to "expect" sweeps now.
  17. Several times during the game, you could clearly hear "Let's go Sioux!" and ether cheers over the announcers. That is so sweet to hear in an away game! Keep it up tonight!
  18. Sam's and Costco at $2.78 in Fargo (but with ethanol). I actually use ethanol type when it gets -15F or so. Less freeze-up risk.
  19. I'll bet Pellini is available soon......Nebraska fans not too happy lately.....
  20. Wow. No mention of JLBeers burgers? Not really "fast food" either tho. They are better than Culvers, Smashburger, HiHo and 5 guys I think. Also in Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, and Grand Forks. But it is a bar, so must use take-out for kids. But you get a beer with the burger like at HiHo. In-and-Out once in San Diego was good, but not like JLB. Haven't had the rest.
  21. A gadmall+, yellow legs, tail = mallard, wings = gadwall, can't see the beak well, but it looks black, which is neither mallard nor gadwall. This duck probably is not sure if it's a drake or hen, as it heads has characteristics of both. Did you pop the cloaca and check? Some hen has been stepping out more than a little. Dux are swingers by nature, the parents here have gone above and beyond, wonder what this bird sounded like, must have been a weird quack. About the same kind of weird duck I shot back in the 80's. Right side was a drake mallard left side was a hen mallard. Right down to half beak each too. Hermaphrodite. Wanted to mount it but felt no one would believe it was not artificially half and half. It was separated from an entire flock (ostracized?) of mallards in a field. And you were right--it tasted good next to the potatoes.....
  22. Congrats on the win- to those players who deserve the congrats... I really respect the player pool represented by QB Nelson- his after game interview Tebow moment was a surprise. Not all the team are hardened criminals, and I was not able to stop myself thinking so... When no one tries to separate the "bad guys", it just seems they all are bad. That is just not so. So- Good on you, the decent players on the team. Too bad we associate you with the criminals allowed to play with you.
  23. Wow, sorry about the font deal. Don't know why that happened. I put it in at one size. Than you for the repost--that's readable!
  24. I was browsing a Kansas St message board out of curiosity. Seems we aren't the only board where these Ag Tech fans show their arrogance... Some are the same names we deal with. Here are a bunch of K-Stater replies (some are priceless) I am tired of you Bison fans and your “taking over our stadium” claims, to much is going on- with the new stadium and homecoming for the players. Sure you are faithful, but annoying as hell. If I remember correctly, Fox Sports 1 was created because of NDSU. Yeah, they were kicking around the idea for a new channel and then when they saw a DII team win back to back flag football championships, they were sold. They dang near think they are Alabama caliber. Your National Championship team lost to: Indiana State… Who lost to: South Dakota State… Who lost to:The Kansas Jayhawks, their only win. Just looked up Ag school rankings. KSU is ranks in the 50s for best Ag colleges in the WORLD. nDSU isn't in the top 200. I'm 57, 6'0", have NEVER lost a game of horse in this county. I guess I could whip Larry Bird's ass. I get you're not your typical 1-AA program. But we're not Minnesota. We're not KU, and we're not Colorado State. We're the defending Big XII Champs, we play big boy football around here. you're new name is noseeum....just some damn pest that annoys the hell out of everyone, with no real bite, but just won't seem to go away.... but alas, you are clueless on a whole new level.... I hope your additions to the gene pool have been limited It's easy to have a winning tradition if Sam Houston State or CSU are the toughest opponents you play. What a Kook! Cant wait to spank these boys and get them out of our state so they can go back to worrying about JV football. I just finished running my computer simulation and the 2013 NDSU Bison have defeated the 1985 Chicago Bears 34-21. It is true, the facts do not lie and the computer is always right. To be fair, the analysis used the current Bison starting line-up and the Bears 1985 line-up and the calculations were based on the two teams playing today. The Bears had to play without a couple of players who have passed away and their QB has dementia. Not to mention that their average age is approaching 55. None the less, it was a good game and the Bison were victorious scottsdaleping wrote: remember the bison badly dominated KU in 2010. Dominated? KU 14 first downs, NDSU 10.. KU 293 total yards, NDSU 168. The only reason you beat a pathetic KU team was turnovers. And even then it was 6-3. K-State, which was nowhere near as good as the 2013 squad is, beat that same team 59-7 on the same field in 2010. Geezus. Some folks are wondering if we should storm the field should we somehow manage to eke out a win. We stormed it last year after Texas/Big12 championship and NDSU, being ranked #1, is obviously a far superior team to Texas. Don't forget we are the 2 time defending NC team. Right... We'll, we'll just do the best we can. As far as those goal posts coming down, we still have to beat these 2 time defending champs, so, well...anyway. At least we beat Texas last year. And Oklahoma. And Oklahoma State. And TCU. And Texas Tech. And Iowa State. And on and on... I've never wanted to beat a bad non-con team so bad in my life. I hope Snyder opens it up on em.
  25. Picked up my caps from letsSIOUXum last night (thanks- also to MafiaMan for doing this). They are nice. I especially like the black, but gray was good too. Hope the weather holds and they are not NEEDED for a looong time yet....
