  1. I live in W. Fargo and made 4 trips up for games. Could not find anyone to go with me for most. Too busy with yard work, family issues, and just "busy". Scheels arena a few years ago was more buzzing, but they were so not ready to host yet...(esp parking) and had other issues. Last weekend was really disappointing in attendance,. This weekend was just poor, but not terrible. Many more Canucks in Fargo tho. Anyway, if I can drive up 4 times in a week, locals can go with less effort and did not.
  2. The above link would not open for me. Google of the name gave me this link which showed the article: https://seamoresports.com/
  3. Just walked away from MSG box office. Ticketmaster tix sale on April 18. BO tix not till April 19. Want to get em here to skip fees.
  4. Amen. We cannot fully understand just how much the Gift of the arena has meant. But how many recruits have noted "the facilities" as one of their top 3 reasons to choose UND? All? So I agree: Thank You Engelstads!
  5. Dave B: Your article shows amazing data. I have followed Sioux since 1976- some weak years then, but still had Taylor-Smail-Patrick-Iwabuci et al. Now with tickets since new Ralph- finally got to see games again and since 2001. Lots of them. But you really stated what I have felt: we may not win a "natty" every year, but we see amazing players and teams every year. No program has shown that overall consistency. Thanks to the players for each year we have been privileged to watch. And double thanks to this years crew! Hope you all come back for another go.
  6. Here is the link to the yet-not official story: http://www.uscho.com/2016/03/27/sources-wisconsin-preparing-to-name-tony-granato-coach/
  7. The player who stood out most to me tonight was Stetcher. He was just plain awesome in his effort, and the unselfish play with hard work to get clear of traffic, then dish off a pass to a teammate for a better shot instead of trying to finish a "I can do it myself" effort. He did not hit the score sheet, as his dishes did not generate a goal, but what a beast of an effort to try to do so. And how can you not love the Gardner-Poganski-L. Johnson line.. Who will be able to match that physicality?? Wow. That 5th goal was frosting on the cake delivered by one hard working group. Can't wait for more heroics to come from this team.
  8. Many years ago in Chicago Trib sports, Mike Royko (may he RIP) said of a trending playoff baseball team, that there was NO WAY they could win it all. They simply had too many ex-Cubs on the roster, and explained it in great detail. Well......do the Wild have too many ex-goofers? Just sayin.
  9. Agree totally. I'll bet Boeser grows on you.....
  10. The open records issue would limit some possible excellent candidates. They may have an issue of being identified as "job seeking" by current employer, so if not selected at UND they may lose favor for promotion where they now work. Open records are not always in the institutions best interest......
  11. How about "You must be simple if you think this would be an easy process".
  12. Told my son the video quality was so bad it was like watching the radio....
  13. From the Ciskie Blog about this weekend up in Duloot: Couple public service announcements: 1. This is a busy, busy weekend at the DECC complex. There's the Bentleyville Christmas light display at Bayfront Park, the Nutcracker ballet shows at DECC Symphony Hall, and the Arrowhead Ice Fishing Show at the DECC. They will all draw huge crowds, on top of the 7,000 and change expected for the hockey games. Consider yourself warned. Go early, walk over to Canal Park and kill some time, and know you have a parking spot and fairly easy access to the arena to get in the game on time. 2. Saturday night, UMD is conducting its annual toy drive. If you're going to the game, please consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy or two to donate. Hopefully, we can set a record with a standing room only gathering anticipated. Sadly, no Teddy Bear Toss this year, but the toy drive should be huge. Would love it if you could bring something to donate. Cannot go myself, but this is for those who can...
  14. Just a little bit concerned about this vote after issues today.... First, I was allowed a vote right away last time- first vote. This time I was --unexplained why-- left off the list to vote, until 2 days later.....when they noticed I was missed Really?? I am an alum, a donor, a season ticket holder, and a faculty member. 4 ways eligible How do you miss me? And can we rely on this system--one that can be that bad???
  15. My Favorite Duluth restaurants are Blackwoods for dinner, Sarahs Kitchen for breakfast, Pizza Luce and Tavern on the Hill too. All of em: Mmmmmm. Not in walking distance but worth the drive. Well Pizza Luce could be walked.
  16. If you drive off the Interstate system out there...be sure to allow lots of time. We were there last fall. The roads are all like Minnesota lakes country: 2 lanes, winding, hilly, minimal passing, and speed limits change every 5 miles, usually slow anyway. It takes a long time to get even short distances. It is beautiful though. If you think you've seen leaves in Minnesota or Wisconsin--think again. No comparison.....
  17. Just for the curious, 56 days until the puck drops!
  18. Just for a change of thought: As we sit here, my countdown clock says Sioux Hockey puck drops in 87 days, 11+ hrs......
  19. This^^^^ Excellent post, deserves a 1 up!
  20. I picked Tsunami. If there is an unstoppable wave from ND, you are indeed in trouble... and Roughnecks.
  21. Sorry about that. However, this is a non-UND hockey comment site, so focusing on UND is also not quite "right". Yeah, yeah two wrongs don't make a right, but It was just saving others the awful feeling of opening that site!
  22. First time on GPL in months (all year maybe?) but couldn't resist tonight. This Goofer loss was just too sweet. Here is a rundown of selected comments: Just to save the rest of you from soiling your computers!: Well, the players came back after losing in the title game last year and said they were on a mission. What they didn't tell us is the mission consisted of just showing up. To their credit just showing up nets you two banners from the Big 10 conference. After that they were done, mission accomplished. Yep, fitting end to the season.......when the road gets bumpy, we turtle....... Of course the rugged, hi skill play of the big ten really sets the tone for tournament play. This is what you get from playing in a weak conference. Playing in the Big Ten will slowly erode the quality of this program to average. Your not battle hardened in the Big ten like you were in the WCHA. Here's to hoping Cammarata defects this offseason, seriously question if he should be playing Men's or Women's I mentioned a few times the last several weeks that they weren't playing well enough to beat a top 16 team and got ridiculed. We hadn't played a top 26 team in over 2 months, and though we were winning, in no way we're we dominating. Not sure which was more difficult to watch? The butt whooping on the ice. Or, how small the crowd was at the Rink. If the game is not at the X, the NCAA looks foolish having 18K rinks 35% full. Gophers deserve nothing other than to receive their Most Uninspiring Performance of the Tournament Award What bothers me is little will happen in the off season. It'll be business is usual. Some new faces on the ice, same old excuses, happy with being contenders in a very average, unexciting conference, another quick exit in playoffs, look forward to next to season. Rinse and repeat. Now that its over, my focus will be on wishing UND a slow, painful death, hopefully before the Frozen 4. The only good thing about tonight, for me anyway, is that we didn't lose to UND. (feel the hate here?)
  23. As I quote a buddy at work today: "Those Gophers sure know how to dig deep holes to try to get out of, don't they?" Sweet.
  24. I found the game on the schedule for Fox college sports channel 315 for Midco (in SD- not HD) for tonight. So Midco will at least carry it....
  25. The refs tonight were #13 Krebsbach (1st year at college level-NCHC) and # 17 Walsh (9 years experience ? NCHC time).
