Already being shortened by coaches and ADs to "The National". I saw where a writer referred to it as "The Nat".. I like The National, not so much The Nat.

I'm not so sure about the "not in geographic reach" term. Goon posted that there were four teams already looking at the NCHC. Could it be a couple of East Coast teams are interested? This makes me wonder..... I've read a couple of places where the name is considered to be lame. By what standard? Do people consider the National Football League to be a lame name? How about the National Hockey League? I think when all of the teams are "signed up" and we see that we have a "National" conference the name will fit nicely.

Looking at this map of the new conference, can one really believe that Miami would have said yes without assurance that Notre Dame and Western Michigan were coming along?

This is part of "what needs to happen"..... N.D. needs Stenehjem’s view I doubt that we will see any decision from Stenehjem prior to the NCAA meeting later this month, but he does need to do his job. It seems everyone, is going with the flow on this, from the legislature, to the governor, to the AG and the SBoHE. I can understand the SBoHE being somewhat reluctant to make too many waves with the legislature, since that is how they are funded, but the legislature is out of line here and needs to be reigned in by the AG and likely, eventually, the Courts. If the legislature and governor can create a law, which is unconstitutional, does the SBoHE have to follow it? The AG needs to speak up. If the legislature is allowed this foray into the SBoHE's business, what is to stop them from further reaches of power.
