UND enrollment sets another record at 14,697, thanks in part to strong returning-student numbers/ I found this interesting...

Tu-Uyen Tran isn't going to make any friends at 'SU with this piece.... UND enrollment exceeds NDSU for first time since 2007

I have a prediction for Jay Cutler next week against the Packers..... Pain. The Saints sacked Cutler 6 times yesterday and crushed the entire offense, except Forte. The only TD Chicago scored was mostly due a a roughing the passer call against the Saints, which even the announcers said wasn't a penalty. I would love for the Saints to have another crack at the Packers in the playoffs.

For lack of a better place to ask this question, has anyone heard any info about Rhode Island taking their hockey program to Division I? I was reading their board a while back where some of the fans were knocking the idea around.

North Dakota's athletic department is profitable, because of hockey. I don't know the numbers on whether football is profitable or not at North Dakota. -

I don't recall where I read it, but very few NCAA championships make money. I believe the only ones were basketball, baseball and hockey. Since FBS football championships are not run by the NCAA, it is not included. Note what is missing.... FCS football. Money loser. Sure there are some programs that make money, such as NDSU and Montana, but more lose money than make it. Look at the schools in the current WCHA. Hockey is a cash cow for most of these schools. I'm not saying FCS isn't relevant. I'm saying that it isn't as profitable as hockey. -

Hockey is one of the few sports that actually makes a profit. FCS football is not a money maker. -
What you are describing reminds of a book I just finished reading, The Overton Window. Although the subject matter is different from the book, the premise is the same. The NCAA seems to be using the Overton Window in their policy making. Although the transgender thing sounds more like the door-in-your-face technique.

Skimming through it a bit, it is based on 2010 data, so you may have to wait a couple of years to see movement up. UND's place relative to other schools appears to be the same. UND was tied with Hawaii last year and this year and right behind Idaho both years.

2012 Rankings, for what they are worth, have UND at #164, tied with Florida Institute of Technology, San Diego State, University of Hawaii, University of Louisville and West Virginia.

Because he exemplifies what Mussman is not. DeBoer took an NAIA team into an FCS stadium and not only won, but took it to North Dakota. He didn't come in there with the attitude of lets show these guys a competitive game. He came there to win. He exploited UND's weaknesses and the Sioux coaching staff had no answer. It also doesn't hurt that he is from the Dakotas. I want the guy who comes into each game with that kind of an attitude. If it is not DeBoer, then someone of similar qualities, such as Mike Van Diest of Carroll College. He has won the NAIA national championship 6 times and is well respected amongst the Montana and Montana State crowds. He would have instant credibility in the Big Sky.

I don't wish to compare UND to other schools and what they have or have not accomplished. I only know that as a Sioux fan, I am not satisfied with the performance of the UND's football team and really haven't been since Lennon left. I think Mussman has recruited some good kids over the last couple of years, but the coaching has failed them. i keep going back to what a casual spectator said at a game last year, when he said "What's wrong with your coach. He looks like he is coaching not to lose." The end of the first half yesterday was evidence of that. We need a coach who coaches to win and not one who coaches to compete and hopefully be close in the end. I didn't get to see the whole game yesterday. I saw most of the first half and the 4th quarter. UND, quite simply, can't move the ball. The defense held pretty tough through the first half, but couldn't keep it up when the offense can't sustain anything. Mussman is not a head coach. UND needs a head coach. One who knows how to exploit his opponent's weaknesses and instill a play to win philosophy to his players. Not a hey we were competitive for a half mentality. Mussman must go. It has been said before, North Dakota should be looking at someone like this.

Sorry for the confusion. I was trying to find a clever way of announcing that you were writing for FightingSioux.com. The "well.... kind of" was supposed to be a qualifier to the PCM Returns. Regardless, congratulations on your new gig.

He wants you to get angry. Don't let him. The people on the CS board know who he and what he is and deal with him on a daily basis. They debunk 99% of his posts. Don't bother getting angry. Just let him sit around in his bison yellow underwear posting his "big 3" tripe. Hopefully FedEx will be there on time today with his meds. -

I quite honestly wouldn't have felt right if the Saints had tied it up at the end, as I didn't agree with the pass interference call in the end zone. Both teams will be playing deep into the playoffs, I feel. Great game.

Packers up 28-17 at the half. Pack looks good.
