A long the same line, a place that kind of reminds me of UND/Grand Forks is Hattiesburg MS, home of Southern Miss. City population is 52,000 and metro is about 150,000. Their enrollment is a bit larger at 18,000. I have been past "The Rock" many times. Pretty neat place.

I'm not sure why, but Star2City does not post here anymore. I think he posts over on the WAC board under the name Siouxfan. Here is a thread regarding WAC hockey.

The Sanctions and Punishments Have Arrived
GeauxSioux replied to The Sicatoka's topic in UND Nickname
The NCAA has to admit nothing. They will feel no pressure. They have an agreement that says that UND had to obtain the approval of two tribes. UND was not able to do that. All they have to do is point at the settlement and say nothing. Did you actually read the whole piece that you linked? This part.... She is talking about you and not in glowing terms. -
The Sanctions and Punishments Have Arrived
GeauxSioux replied to The Sicatoka's topic in UND Nickname
Sure, now it is a few schools with big names, but how many other schools will follow suit? How many schools will say that our policy is to follow the NCAA standards and not schedule UND? How many conferences will make that a conference rule? Wasn't there a rumor a while back that SDSU was thinking about not scheduling UND? The NCAA and the college administration hierarchy is filled with like-minded people. Maybe UND should just keep the name and find out how far that will go. UND would be on an island with no land in sight from any direction. -
Congratulations to Coach Brewster. From GFH Tom Miller...

I can't imagine the pain their families must be feeling. Truly sad.

Thanks for all of the input. We don't watch a lot of TV now, so maybe just dumping the cable and streaming is the best route at this point. Roku looks pretty cool for that. Last weekend the kids were watching a movie on the "boat anchor television", so I was streaming the game on the iMac. When their movie ended, i turned the game on FCS and the streaming and television were in synch. Surprised the heck out of me. One of the kids also noticed the picture on the iMac looked brighter that the television. I guess time is taking it's toll on the old Sony. Maybe my next TV should be one of these or maybe I'll wait for the new iTV

Yes, I'm quite sure Ralph Engelstad intended for the arena bearing his name to be the home of an AHL team and not UND.

Ramesh is from Eagle River WI. Also the hometown of Craig Ludwig. Hmmm.

I love the howler monkey look in the video.

The women's jersey is starting to grow on me. Nice clean look. Someone mentioned, if it was to be used for the men, put 7 stars, representing the championships, on it.

Former Sioux football coach Dale Lennon says UND losing recruits already There is a definite change in the opinions going on.
-
That is unbelievable and troubling.
-
It seems everyone (NCAA, PC folks, etc.) considers UND to be "Outlaws".

A SiouxSports member (Fetch9) wrote the the following piece for RockChalkTalk....Should Kansas Add Division One Ice Hockey?

I agree with everything you wrote with the exception of the constitutional authority. According to the ND constitution and the Century Code... I started this thread with the opinion that the SBoHE has control over this issue, not the legislature. I still believe that.

He sure has a lot of insight on the conference dealings. Too bad he isn't here providing it

Where the heck is that guy?
-
You do realize that the only thing I-AA (FCS) is football. Everything else is Division I.
-
Tell that to this guy... This issue has gone on so long that I find it hard to believe that people don't understand the settlement. No written approval from both tribes by November 30, 2010 ----> "Game over" is about as concise as it gets
