  1. I don't believe a vote for UND's new nickname would constitute a "state election" I doubt that the Secretary of State for North Dakota is going to preside over the vote.
  2. Looking at the schedule for 2012, I can see it open for the first 5 home games, with the last being Montana on Oct. 20th. 2013, perhaps 6 games with the last being Sacramento State on Oct. 25th.
  3. I take you back to a conversation 4 years ago where architect Lonnie Laffen said.... I do believe that the Alerus will no longer meet the needs of UND football in the not so distant future.
  4. I'm guessing that if you look at the field in the proposed UND Athletics Complex, add some Alerus and/or Big Sky logos and that would be pretty close.
  5. Group B could make a donation to UND Athletics and be put on the list. The donation could be as small as $10. I believe poll taxes are illegal only in Federal elections, per the 24th Amendment.
  6. Rod, I agree that a statewide ballot is a bad idea, but there has to be a way to be more inclusive than just graduates and students. I'm sure from a combination of Twamley (current students), the Alumni Association (graduates) and the Athletic Department (season ticket holder, stakeholders and donations) a nice list could be created of voters. This is not meant to be a complete list, as I'm sure I'm missing someone.
  7. Someone here says that only current students or graduates of UND should vote, while denying the vote to season ticket holders, donators and casual fans. That also seems a bit hypocritical.
  8. I'm not saying it should count more, I'm just including them. You were excluding them. I agree with Iluvdebbies, "small contributors" need to have a voice, as well.
  9. I think you would miss some big "stakeholders", that are major contributors. For instance, did Wes Rydell graduate from UND? For all I know he did, but I'm sure there are others who are big time contributors to UND athletics that would be left out.
  10. i just posted in the Alerus turf thread that the replacement project has to be completed by August 24th or the contractor will incur $10,000/day in damages. Let's say that the contractor doesn't finish on time and ends up being a week late. It will cost them $70,000. Sure that is a lot of money and no contractor wants that to happen, but what if it did? UND's first home game is August 30th, which is less than a week after the project is to be completed. At that point, would UND move the game to Memorial? Would you like to move a game venue for SD School of Mines or an FCS opponent? There may be some thinking in the schedule besides just the possibility of playoffs.
  11. Some information I was able to find on the internet... Award of contract.... No later than Feb. 8th Final Completion of project.... 11:59 PM August 24 LD... $10,000.00/day The turf conversion system shall allow the Alerus Center staff to install or remove the complete field within 2 hours, using 6 people or less. Primary and secondary Big Sky logos are not part of the base bid. They are each separate add alternates.
  12. Just watched the Anthony Fletcher video on Sioux Football Insider and as a Saints fan, he reminds me a lot of Marcus Colston. He catches a lot of passes in traffic, over the middle and looks effortless when he runs down field.
  13. Showing my age, when I started high school back in the fall of 1977 I was just on the south side (RRHS) of the dividing line. I lived a block south of Lewis and Clark Elementary. I believe RR was about 10 years old at that time. It was kind of funny reading the Herald article where it says kids from Schroeder split on which high school they attend. Back in my day, it was South that split between Central and Red River.
  14. I saw that he has a YouTube video, but I stink at linking things from a mobile. Can someone link and post it?
  15. Nor does it serve any purpose. Sica and Ira are "right on" with their assessments.
  16. More Questions and Answers regarding the Root deal. I like this one....
  17. I remember seeing the IT Center get approved during last years session of the legislature. It popped in my head the other day, as to the status of the project. Question answered....
  18. Big Sky Basketball If you need a Big Sky BB source here is a nice blog all about Big Sky Basketball written by a UND alum living in Denver. His take on the NDSU game...
  19. From an EWU blog... big sky tv deal.
  20. Southern Utah University to end baseball program I wonder what UND Athletics thinks of this and if there any similar thoughts going forward. I have to add the obligatory.... add lacrosse, for Sica.
  21. As usual with kids, I didn't get to see the entire game, but have it recorded, so will be able to watch over the next few days. I agree with your take on Huff. He was everywhere defensively it seemed and did a great job. The put back by Mitchell late in the game on his third attempt, was a knife in the back of the bison with a little twist. Great second and third efforts. Truly a team victory. Everyone seemed to contribute in one way or another.
  22. Doug Fullerton announces the Root Sports contract. What he knows and what he doesn't. He mentions basketball, but that sounds to be future.
