    New Logo

Jim, I really appreciate everything you do for Fighting Sioux fans and our fix for all things Sioux! The new format looks great! I like the new logo but agree with some of the tweak comments Dagies made regarding the logo (eyes, mouth, soft). Also, earlier I noticed a few links (photos and merchandise) still had the "old style" Sioux Sports.com look but I'm sure you'll be getting to those in due time. LOOKS GREAT!
  3. I must say, I muttered a WTF?! from the time I read the thread title and brought it up. A subtle way to get Sioux fans to spit up their ______________ (insert favorite beverage here)!

    Toews Watch

Sigh!! It was a great two years! All the best to JT in the NHL. Look forward to watching him develop into a first class NHL star. As the song goes, "Thanks for the memories..."
  5. I was in Chicago the past few days for a conference and happened to enter the Hawk Quarters on Michigan Ave. Thought I would buy my boys some Blackhawks pucks. I had asked the three guys working there (it wasn't very busy) what their thoughts were on Toews and if he'll end up with the team this year. They all thought that he was one awesome player ("My God, look what he's doing for Canada this week!") and they state that the fans and team (from the fans pov) they want and need him ASAP. I stated that as a UND fan I'm hoping that he might stay for at least another year. I couldn't get my reasons out before they all stated how stupid that would be for him to do that, the Blackhwaks wouldn't let him do that, why play at the college level anymore... There didn't seem to be much of an opportunity to discuss it... It's not a suprising response from 'Hawks fans but I found their immediate and reactive response to my question interesting. I can understand their thoughts and wishes. They didn't seem to understand mine... go figure...
  6. Thanks for sharing the article SportsDoc. Quite a story. There are some uplifting parts to the story but it left me shaking my head for all of those traumatized and effected by the events mentioned, especially for those current young players who weren't even a part of the past and how it effects them. As mentioned before, there's more to life than hockey. Sometimes the sad and sick events of life can infiltrate into hockey and those that play it. Quite a story.
  7. Pick up as much speed as the bandwagon can go before you throw him off ! I wouldn't think any real Sioux fan would pop off quite like that
  8. A classy award for a classy player... Well deserved! WTG!!! Go Duncan! Go Sioux!
  9. Amen Sister!!!!!!!! We will always love our Sioux!
  10. What is there to say? It seems to me anyways, that this year's loss to BC seems rougher to accept than last year. What I can say though, even though the season is now at an end, is that is was quite a ride. Only through the team's grit, determination and tenacity were we (the fans) able to enjoy and cheer as long as we did this season. As tough as this loss is to the fans, it's tougher on the team (which we all know... I'm telling anyone anything new). My 8 year old son comes up to me after the game, stating, "I'm sorry they lost Dad." What is there to say than... "It's okay, it's been a great year." For the sake of preventing me from rambling on... It has been a great year. I love the Fighting Sioux. I love what they've accomplished. I love being a fan. I think we all do... God Bless the Fighting Sioux
  11. I'll be at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Bay City, MI to watch the game. If any one can make it there, I'll buy the beer! GO SIOUX!!!
  12. Amen to that... Go Sioux!
  13. I had to vote "Other Reason." Born in Jamestown, I only lived there for 5 years. Moved eventually to Michigan where I have lived since. My family (great grandparents, grandparents, uncles, etc.) settled and lived in the Dakotas. I have always felt a sense of pride having been born there and have always respected those that live in the Dakotas as being tough, resilient, and independent. I have always respected that spirit in my ancestors. I've always liked hockey and when my kids started playing at a young age, I got that much more involved and hooked on the sport. It was always a given to me that there was no other team than North Dakota to root and cheer for. To me, it represents what I think being from the Dakotas represents. When I wear my Sioux jersey, it states that I'm a proud fan of the Fighting Sioux, that I can say that I'm from North Dakota, and it is the best state and college hockey team there is bar none. Go Sioux!!
  14. Just wanted to wish all those fourtunate enough to make it to St. Louis for the Frozen Four a great time! It's always a great great opportunity to travel and see the Sioux on the road but probably no more so than going to the Frozen Four. I have never been there (yet) and I hear it is a fantastic experience. I appreciate the chance to get on ss.com and read about those who are going, how you're getting there, who's going with who, what your going to do, how much you're going to drink... It gives me (a fan who can't make it) a chance to just feel that excitement somewhat. While there is just the tenniest bit on envy on my part, I actually feel proud knowing that there are great fans going to be there. I'll be with the family watching you and the team at our local BWW, wearing my Sioux gear, cheering everyone on! I'll will hoist a few (probably more...) for you and the team. So, without further ado... here's a toast to those who are going. Godpseed, safe travels, drink as much as you can without getting sick, cheer the boys on and bring them back home, carrying them on your shoulders after WINNING their 8th National Championship! I hope to get a chance to met some ss.com posters at Ford Field for the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four and watch the Sioux win #10 (if not before)! Have a great time...
  15. I'm not superstitious by any means but they have been winning with them since they started wearing them, so why not keep wearing them? I have seen a lot of opinions but I haven't seen any data (players thoughts, etc.) that they indeed do increase speed, etc., etc. but I have no reason to disbelieve what everyone (and Nike) has been saying. I do prefer the traditional sweaters. Not only because I think they look better; but by golly, my authentic Sioux jersey fits over my beer belly much better than these slim line jerseys would (if they would sell them in the future) ! Is this a concern of any one else ?! But the biggest reason I would like to see them wear black is that it makes them look that much more intimidating, powerful, and that they are there to kick your ass and win the game! Go Sioux!
  16. Anybody by chance know any type of gathering in Michigan??
  17. As always, thanks PCM for the work you do... Loved the summary!
  18. A great synopsis Farce! I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Hakstol in Dayton at the Lefty McFadden Tournament in 2005. He seen my son and I in our Sioux jerseys and he approached us. He spent more than a few minutes conversing with us about the upcoming season and made it very clear as to how much he appreictaes the fan support when they are playing away from Grand Forks. A class act!
  19. Amen and ditto!
  20. Now that would be nice to see! Not a big fan of the Irish...
  21. I've also seen Michigan play a few times this season at the Joe. I was at the CCHA Championship game this weekend and I was suprised at how well Sauer held up throughout the game. The previous times I seen him play he was only so-so. I say advantage to the Sioux.
  22. Post game one of the announcers on FSN (Can't remember his name but he was down at center ice between benches) and if I recall this correctly, he stated that he was "taken aback" about how dominant the Sioux were. Welcome to Fighting Sioux hockey Mr. Man! Go Sioux!!! What a game!
  23. God Bless the Fighting Sioux!! See you in St Paul (not that I can go )!!!
  24. No Goal!? Calling offsides?
  25. Now that is a sweet song to open a game with!
