Did someone say that? Or did someone say we aren’t showing a team respect? A team that has one of the best goalies in the league and a team that almost got an NCAA bid last year by getting to the frozen faceoff champ game. You’re foolish of you think this is the CC from a few years ago that we could roll over. Even when we had Sanderson and faced CC in the playoffs we had to squeak out a couple wins. They are well coached and play a very well-structured defensive game. And when you have a good goalie and play good D you can make stuff happen. Our team is very good but we don’t have D zone coverage like CC has.
-
It’s crazy how little respect we have for a legitimately good CC team.
-
CC is much better than their record shows. They deserved a notably better fate last weekend against Arizona state, especially Saturday
-
Most nights that would be the case. But you also need to play the guys who are playing well in a game like that. Therefore it wasn’t the right time for him to be out there at home with a game on the line. And of course his 100th turnover of the night ended up coming back the other way and in the net. It was fitting.
-
It was insanity to have him out there for the OT, given how he had been playing all night. I know his OT history has been good overall but he's been a liability defensively and to not have James out there on the first OT shift was a poor choice.

Do you not remember his attitude toward the team after he left here? He was a cocky dude with disrespect for the program after he left. Whereas Bast said he has nothing but good things to say about the program, he just needed a change. I was happy to see Tychonick be done after last year. I definietely took some pleasure in knowing we were the ones to end their season last year in his final collegiate game. -

I will disagree a bit here because Luke Bast is a much more respectable human that Tychonick was, IMO. It is funny though because if Bast would have stayed he probably would have started with a regular lineup spot since everyone else left. But in hindsight it works out better because these freshmen are getting reps, proving themselves already, and seem to have a higher ceiling. -
This exact idea is another reason why I think seeing BU in April would be as terrifying as seeing Minnesota. Everyone on that young team will be better by then. Celebrini has only been playing college puck for 4 weeks and has more than a point per game. I don't want to see him when it's been 5 months worth... But then again I think Justen Close is more likely to steal a game for MN that Caron is for BU.
-
Love these lines except Emerson is not ready for this series. Fully agree he needs to develop but it needs to be against a team that has less offensive skill because he’s struggled defensively with the few reps he’s had.

I thought 10.99 for 2 games with a high quality feed was totally worth it so I got it.

Minnesota @ UND Saturday GameDay Thread

Some games get archived and others don't. Not sure how they determine which full games get archived, sometimes it just seems to be a fluke if the whole game isn't there. They even used to have condensed versions of games but I don't think that's available anymore.- 327 replies

Wow. Can we give the coaching staff a huuuuuge stick tap? 3 freshman defensemen in and we hold them to less than 25 shots and only took 2 penalties. I was wrong but very happy about the results- 327 replies

Minnesota @ UND Saturday GameDay Thread

3 freshman D against the best top to bottom offense in the country =scary. Pehrson is the guy who has the most experience against the gophs so having him out is rough. Guessing we lose by 3+ tonight but honestly a little adversity right now will get this team rolling later. Having these freshman play big roles against a team like this is massive for development so I say bring it on. Getting swept at home would stink, especially since home losses are a bigger pairwise hit, but losing to the number 1 team in the country in week 2 isn’t the end. Really hope I’m wrong on the prediction but either way this team is going to be really good come late November.- 327 replies

Minnesota @ UND - Rivalry Renewed - Friday Gameday
hockeytherapy13 replied to stoneySIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
I would love to see James on the 2nd line wing, he’s ready. And yeah Schmaltz is not a top 6 guy with the talent we have but Berry will never in a million years put schmaltz as the extra skater. Either way I think we need to see Ness tonight. Not a great faceoff guy but steady defensively, good with puck possession and can be opportunistic offensively. -

This is sadly hilarious but true. But man he has to give them a fair amount of confidence (especially in games they can score haha) -
This would fan the flames for the gophs and give them more motivation than they already have. Methinks we keep this one for chirping on Twitter and the message boards but stay away from the actual rink.

A lot of the forwards were in the game against us last year. Plus a lot of this team played a big 10 champ game in front of a raucous crowd and played in a national championship game. Let’s not assume we have the upper hand for experience too heavily here, these guys aren’t exactly rooks when it comes to big games in a loud atmosphere. Also Chesley may end up playing this weekend and he brings some experience on the back end. Either way, their forward group is stacked and those guys have played in some big-time matches.
-
I really can't stand Duluth. But you hate to see a guy go down for the full year no matter what, definitely feel for him. Especially when he was probably going to be one of the best centers in the NCHC. That's brutal.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was Fall of 2008 because I was a sophomore in college. It was awesome and very surprising that they got that through security. -

Ciskie must be looking for more ammo and ways to mock and belittle UND. -
As Schloss has noted on the podcast, This is where our team will shine. Having a player like James on the 3rd line is going to kill teams because we can have the advantage of depth and matching. Other teams are already going to have their defensive guys lined up against blake, Gaber, Perron, etc. But then we get a Line out with James, jammer and Strinden (ok I dreamt that line up in my head but it sounds nice, right?) and boom we have a 3rd line that just won a faceoff, had puck possession and potted a goal.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Yeah when you look at the impact and steadiness that guys like Ferner and Sidorski have provided the last 2 seasons, the writing is on the wall for Britt to make a huge difference out of the gate. -

100% have been thinking this for a long time. You can guarantee with how many big games we have to start the season that Britt will be in every night for at least a month. We have potential to get buried in the pairwise if we flop early so having a guy with experience will be huge.
