It was obvious that essentially every UND fan in the building was cheering for Western during the natty champ game last year. So it was pretty funny when Colby Cohen (with his sour grapes) said that UND fans cheering for Western is the same as BC fans cheering for BU. Proof that he has zero clue about how the rivalries in the NCHC work because it’s safe to say that Western is the team we’d pull for over anyone else in the NCHC. Honorable mention to Miami, but I don’t want to see any of the other teams in this conference win anything haha.

I’d much rather play Omaha in the 1st round. Easier opponent and it would be nice to end their season again.

If Menghini is healthy, I’m guessing he comes back in tonight. We could use his intensity; plus he had a good run where he was heating up. But who should come out? Last night it seemed like Ollie and Swanson struggled the most. Feel free to throw tomatoes at me but Swanson did not handle the heavy playoff-style 5x5 hockey. His foot speed isn’t fast enough to make up for his small frame. Obviously his abilities to pass and make plays off the wall are next level but I don’t get as excited when he’s got the puck on his stick unless he’s in the o zone on the power play. I don’t see them taking Swanson out but maybe Ollie comes out, Menghini in, and they shuffle Littler back to center the 4th. I’ll brace myself for the tomatoes; just basing it off of last night’s performances.

Yeah all Righty shots on the 4th line. Geno was playing well for a while so I’m guessing he will get back in tomrrow but idk who the heck you take out of this lineup right now. No weak links

I haven't read the article on Zmolek yet but I'm guessing they keep him out Friday and Let him play Saturday for senior night.

I wouldn’t call a weekend against St. Cloud a gimme. I know we snuck out of clown town with a sweep, but we weren’t the better team for 6 periods. I enjoy watching them struggle to stay at .500 but they are a lot better than what their record shows.

Honestly if that were the other way around, I would have really mad. Heck we even got away with interference before we got that game tying goal on the power play. Miami had a right to be mad with getting 0 power plays for the entire game because we definitely took a few penalties that should have been called. We’d feel shafted if we were in Miami’s shoes.

Watching this team forecheck hard when playing with a lead has been so much fun.

Yeah as a student I did in 2011 Gregoire against Michigan Tech. I think they had a bag with all the hats after the game and I got it back? Also threw one on the ice in 2016-2017 at the St. Cloud concrete jungle when Gersich got a natural hatty in a 3-0 win. Didn’t get my hat back for that one though

This weekend’s Friday game might be one of the best preparation games we will have for the NCAAs. In the first round you always play a non-conference team with whom you are somewhat unfamiliar. For all intents and purposes Miami with 21 new players is essentially an unknown team to us. Combine that with the fact that they play an aggressive playoff-style game, this is a regional style tilt we have coming up. They sort of seem like a less-skilled version of us with how they forecheck hard even when they have a lead. That’s not to say they lack skill, because they definitely have some guys that can finish and I definitely won’t want to play frok behind against them.

Did we get an update on Zmolek or Klee? Because if they are both out then I'm guessing Andrew gets in for sure because Jubenvil would take Zmolek's place. This has been said on the Forum 100 times this year, but we are so spoiled with our defensive depth. I have 0 concerns about Jubenvil stepping in for a few games if Zmolek needs recovery. Sure he isn't going to kill penalties or win as many board battles but the guy makes simple and smart plays and rarely looks out of place.

When I did the CHN NPI customizer it looked like we could go 3-3 and still be 3 as far as our own results go. But that will also depend on if the teams below us can propel themselves up. But all things point to us getting #3-4 as long as we don't go below .500 in the next month

I watched the last 10 mins of each of their games in St cloud. These guys SELL OUT for their teammates and for the W. They were blocking bombs short range against Burnevik to hold onto a 1-goal lead. They cashed in on their opportunities even though it got to a point where they weren't generating a ton. What a wild turnaround for that program. At first I thought Noreen should win NCHC coach of the year (and he still should), but honestly he's got himself a case for National COTY.

It’ll be nice to end the season for either ASU it Omaha. Gotta put one of them out of their miseries

I mean, there really is a difference. Ciskie was being an unreasonable baby as per usual, but the standards for radio guys and writers are very different. You won’t see Matt Wellens whining on social media like Ciskie. Although very few media folk whine as much as Ciskie lol

Hot take: Let’s say this story is true about McKenna’s mom being harassed and the “punchee” was waiting outside to taunt some more. If McKenna doesn’t serve jail time and is allowed to play somewhere this season, I think this propels him to #1 overall. Was he defending the honor of his mom from a heckler that wouldn’t just let it go? Teams will eat that up because now it looks like he isn’t as soft as we all thought and will go to bat for people he cares about. Combine that with the fact that he’s finally tearing it up on the ice and he has started teaching his potential this past month, he’s going #1. Doesn’t change the fact it was an insanely stupid decision. He deserves punishment, but this hopefully doesn’t completely derail his future.

Duluth has played better in January than their record shows. I don’t see us sweeping in their barn this time but I see us taking one.

I think we’d see Croal with the C before anyone else. The guy is Sioux hockey through and through. Moot point for now but that’d be my guess.

I might argue that Boisvert and Omac going to BU may have been a great portal steal away from us Addition by subtraction
