  1. Having a big line is massive during the regionals and frozen 4 with longer TV timeouts. They can roll those guys more often and if you get 2-3 goals out of 1 line, you can win a game. Duluth and Michigan will be deadly teams in the tourney. Love our depth but we need to have “the line” who we go to when we need to get 1 back. Our top 2 lines are obviously good but it’ll be interesting to see if one of them really pops toward playoffs.
  2. I’m not fully sure what you’re trying to say here. I’m not a Homer hater so maybe you’re assuming that? Verhoeff has had some ugly turnover and some moments where he punts it up the ice instead of making a play. Does that mean he should be benched? Nope just learn from it and keep getting better. Anyways, Seems wise to go with the guy who has had the most consistency and let him learn and keep building. If it becomes a trend for him, then we switch. It’s also easy to forget some of the big saves he made when we were down by 1 to allow us to eventually tie in regulation.
  3. Gotta play Spunar again. Can’t send the message that one mediocre game takes the net away from you. He’s now 10-1
  4. He missed the net 3 times on that power play, oof
  5. Every graph on metrics I’ve seen shows CC is a much better team than their record shows. Most of the teams in the same areas of them on those charts are top-15 in the NPI so Hopefully they don’t “find” their metrics this coming weekend.
  6. You can't be serious. Do you really not see a change or are you just upset that we've had some mental lapses here and there? There is a remarkable difference in the way this team plays compared to the past 4ish years. They find a way to score first almost every game and even most of the games they don't score first, they get the goal back in short order. When they are up by 1 they look like a team that is down by 2. Even when they are up by 2-3 They don't sit back and hold the line, they keep forechecking hard and often build their lead. The identity of this team is light years away from what we saw the last few seasons
  7. Ever since they moved Kernan to center he’s been rolling strong. Love seeing it
  8. Jax should get an apple on that goal for the brilliant use of his timeout. Another great decision that we wouldn’t have seen last year
  9. I think Schloss said their flight back is Jan 2nd
  10. I was in 103 Saturday with my 6-year old for his first ever road game. He said it was one of his favorite games he’s been to, but seemed confused about the crowd when he said “it kind of feels like a home game”. However, I don’t think he realized how stressful it was at times for his dad haha.
  11. Yep. We would have been likely to lose this type of game if it were any of the previous 3 seasons.
  12. To have gotten 0 shots on goal after 2 power plays on the big sheet is concerning. They scouted us well and realized how infrequently we use the bumper. Unfortunately you know the next power play will go to them so hopefully we can lock it down. 5x5 we are the better team; The depth was showing the last 5 mins of that period.
  13. Random stat that I stumbled upon. Strinden hasn’t taken a single penalty since the Saturday game against the gophs (10 games played since then). We’ve been rightfully admiring his production but having played the last 140ish minutes without a penalty shows unbelievable discipline. Quite the leader we have there and it’s safe to say Jax helped him find another level he’s had lying in wait.
  14. We badly needed a special teams night like this one. Love it
  15. I’d rather we play them as an exhibition game instead of Toba. But I know that’s a little unfair to BSU since they likely wouldn’t be getting a home game
  16. The crumminess of that picture is the perfect symbol to represent how crummy their rink is haha. Although I’ll admit it’s a solid college atmosphere. I’ll be there as well; bringing my 6-year old to his first away game so really hoping for a win. Series there are always fun because of the big green contingent and the hatred St. Cloud fans have for us.
  17. Feels like it's been quite a few but 2018-19 was brutal with how they couldn't finish the job getting the puck in the net. But I think Shloss started bringing up xG during 2022-2023 season but I can't say for sure; it was within the last few years.
  18. Jax has mentioned some of the analytics in interviews, so you know they are looking at them to guide a few things. So the analytics have value and definitely relevant, despite what some people feel. I'm guessing some people got annoyed with it getting talked about so much by Schloss (while we were never reaching our full potential multiple seasons) that they decided to ignore it's value altogether.
  19. You hate to see it
  20. Good teams with astute coaches drop games too. I was in the building (I’ll bet a lot of us on this board were there) for the 2011 game against Shawn Hunwick (barf). Incredible team with great coaches, shots 40-20, and we know how that one ended. We are 6 weekend into the season with 10 freshman, pretty good start so far. We all knew coming into the weekend that they were going to rotate goalies like last weekend. It went very well last weekend and tonight it didn’t. 2 of those goals Homer had zero chance as he was hung out to dry. One of them will take the reins.
  21. Step away from the ledge, you’re acting like we got outshot 40-20 and lost by 5. We had some bad defensive breakdowns that ended up in our net and the power play was rough. But 5x5 play was heavily in our favor and we dominated them most of the weekend. This isn’t one of those times where we blew a 3-goal lead in the 3rd period like 2 seasons ago. We almost tripled a team in shots and some didn’t land. This team is well coached but some nights just won’t always go our way.
  22. At least for once it won’t be complete NPI devastation if we drop a game haha
  23. Wonder if it’s partially because of the gaffe he had last night that resulted in us taking a penalty. Not that I think young players should be punished for making mistakes, but with Rickwood out, having more experience and solid defending will be a big deal.
