  1. I think it’s brilliant. Those teams might take some lumps early on bringing in lower end CHL guys. But they are building pathways and connections to those programs and coaches that might give them the inside tracks to get better guys later on. Maybe it won’t be the super high end players, but they may end up snagging those diamond in the rough or late bloomer players that make a bigtime impact in college.
  2. TJ played incredible the last 5-6 weeks, no doube about it. Leading up to that, Hobie and TJ had 2 very different leashes from the staff because it's safe to say TJ wasn't doing anything special for us the first half of the season. That being said we only got to see an hour of gametime for him each weekend so clearly the staff was seeing stuff in practice we aren't privy to. Either way, once Hobie is given the chance to take over consistently, he's going to succeed.
  3. Cullen potter might have something to say about the fastest player argument but that’s not to say James isn’t one of the fastest
  4. Haha. Thankfully we’ve got him until he experiences January in the red River valley. That’s when we should worry
  5. The Herald article made it seem that way.
  6. Pretty sure this guy is a troll. Guessing a St. Cloud or NDSU fan, who knows. My guess is that it’s actually RJ Enga because he’s still mad about the puck getting dropped closer to our guys and the shot clock not being properly updated. Kidding aside, everything he’s said has been negative in an inflammatory manner. Don’t get me wrong, we all get negative on here, but his level makes it seem like a phony.
  7. Only four? You could probably double that without batting an eyelash.
  8. Plus we have a couple already in Croal and Littler. It’s going to be fun seeing them develop under proper playing time. They will be terrors to play against: Littler with his size and Croal with his grit.
  9. I think you’re a little confused about what I was saying which is understandable because tone can’t be gleaned online; unless you’re less worked up than it seems. Our top 4 this coming season will actually be very good and 5-7 D are good, too. So bringing in another top 4 portal D that would displace really good players that are our own (yes I know Zmolek was a portal 2 years ago) wouldn’t make a ton of sense when we have bigger fish to fry. Recruiting Pohlkamp last year vs recruiting Ashton this year are 2 very different scenarios. Our D corps going into last season was young and iffy (which was apparent most nights), so going into the portal for high end D was more necessary last year than this upcoming season.
  10. I see what you did there
  11. I’m definitely not saying we don’t try because we need to give everything we have. But the sheer size of those schools matter, even if they have large football and basketball programs
  12. Annual enrollment at some Big 10 schools are 4x the size as UND. Which means there's quadruple the amount of possible alumni and donors. That makes a huge difference when compounded over decades worth of alumni.
  13. 100% agree. I feel much better about our future than I do about the last 2-3 years of dropping off the proverbial recruitment cliff. I'm also ready to be done playing mediocre 4th and 5th year players over guys with a higher ceiling
  14. It has nothing to do with us as a program (for once, lately). It has everything to do with who is coming back and what playing time is available. Do you really want to tell our first round pick (Emery) that he is going to get dropped to 3rd pair. Or the same goes for Livanavage and Wiebe who passed on pro deals to stick around? We want the best players but we also want to show that we can retain good players that we recruited.
  15. We have our top 4 D set, I don’t think we have a shot at these high end defensemen in the portal. He’s got gophers written all over him.
  16. Yeah but getting access to ESPN is much cheaper than most options, especially if you don’t have Midco
  17. Crazy that he didn’t get a single point in the NCAAs. Talk about a team that was coached insanely well and had the right guys step up when needed.
  18. Disagree. Keep it comin.
  19. It’s getting harder and harder for me to tell if your account is parody, trolling, or just confused. Schloss has over 28K followers on Twitter. I’m not sure there’s a single journalist that focuses on only college hockey that is followed that heavily. If there is, please find me one. Mike McMahon might be one of the others but he’s at about 14k. It’s been said already but I’ll say it again: he has to toe the line closely because if he crossed the line we run the risk of having less access. And we are one of the only teams in the country that had a beat writer exclusively for their team. We are legitimately spoiled
  20. He’s the one who wrote that he’d been told by sources that UND’s scouting presence had diminished recently. For those of us that weren’t in the know regarding that, it was a massive piece of information that painted us in a negative light. It may seem innocent, but it’s one of the more damning things he’s said when you really pick it apart.
  21. Haha that seems like the proper description for it.
  22. Heck I’d take a guy that’s at least a go-to faceoff guy for key draws and I’m not sure Perdion would be the one but who knows.
  23. I like that optimism with us being the likely destination for McKenna. Based on stats it seems like both Perdion and Gault were some of the better +\- players for both of their teams. Obviously that stat doesn’t always tell a great story. Also looking at the player stats for Ferris. Wowzer they were bad haha.
