  1. Sorry if this was mentioned during the thread last night, but Jax taking his timeout in the 2nd period up 3-1 was brilliant. The ice was tilting a little bit, we took an icing with tired guys. He takes his timeout, get our matchup, and boom Duluth’s momentum was gone. Not to hate on Berry, but those are the moments where he would have had the guys fight it at the wrong time with the wrong matchup and then the game would have swung the other way. Right away it felt like the right decision and it seemed small but was big.
  2. If anyone went anywhere the ledge during that game, they missed most of it. Even though Duluth’s first shot went it, we still went almost 9 mins before they got their first shot on goal. Wire to wire impressive performance and was the definition of a #full60. That’s the type of game where even if we would have somehow lost, we played the right way.
  3. Not appalled, just was surprised. And you say “gopher arrogance” even after I said if they want to do it any home game I’m good with it. New traditions are fine, I just didn’t know the rationale for it. End of story.
  4. Aside from it hurting our NPI, we can all agree that it’s fun watching them struggle. But I think back to how much their 2019-2020 struggled while they played in front of 30 people at the John. But 2 years later they’re at a frozen four and the year after that they played in a natty game. So even though they’re down right now, they have some solid recruits coming and we might not be laughing for long. Don’t get me wrong, I think Bob has screwed up by not making more inroads with the CHL yet, but he had a decent recruiting cycle this year.
  5. Are you kidding with this comment? Cuz it’s hard for me to tell if you don’t know when usually do it or if you’re just being a d**k. This has nothing to do with arrogance or being haughty. We’ve had a tradition for 20(ish?) years and they changed it up; it’s more confusion and curiosity. If it’s the new tradition I actually think it’s cool. Heck I wouldn’t even mind if they did it every home game win or lose just to show appreciation for the fans. But the change was random.
  6. Omaha spoiled that haha
  7. Came here to see if anyone knew why we did a stick salute, but there doesn’t seem to be a definitive answer. It felt a little cringey
  8. Yeah that was livanavage, not Homer.
  9. Yeah that was livanavage, not Homer.
  10. If you can believe it, it was worse than normal.
  11. Never thought I’d be happy to return to NCHC reffing. This weekend was beyond a gong show for officiating.
  12. Not sure it will be any softer than what we saw in the Ralph this weekend haha
  13. I’m not saying anything new but I’m going to sum up the overall feelings. -The play on the ice Saturday was poor overall but there were still good things to build on. -Strinden dragged us down with his bad game and it didn’t improve as the night went on. Idk what needs to happen with him but this staff will make a calculated decision: if he’s in next Friday, I trust them, if he’s out next Friday, I trust them. I don’t think this will a Bubs mentality where upperclassmen get free passes all season long. I think he’ll play but will have a shorter leash. He’ll get instruction behind closed doors that we won’t know about and that’s ok. It’s a good reminder that we don’t see it all. We are a very young team and still Managed to go 3-1 against 2 good teams this early on. We’ll see his next weekend goes but I’m very happy with our record at this stage in the young season. This smells like a Hakstol team- struggle a bit while learning and then start going on long winning streaks in the 2nd half of the season.
  14. Our inability to convert on the PP will be the train we lose if we don’t get it done tonight.
  15. We are tied but you know the refs are going to even out the power plays. That’s what we get for not taking advantage of having a 3-1 PP advantage
  16. Gophs haven’t taken many penalties at all, they seem to be very disciplined so far. Guessing power plays will be in their favor as our young forwards may feel the pressure and cross the line. Grand forks, our fans and everyone has hyped this series so much that I think it will get into the heads of our younger players and throw off their games, forcing mistakes. It’s a big series but the pedestal placed on it this year doesn’t favor us. Hope I’m proven otherwise Tonight: 3-2 gophs Saturday: 5-1 good guys
  17. Yeah it’s way too early to even hover the cursor over those numbers lol
  18. Players like Mooney, Ziemer, and Lamb are not to be taken lightly. Crazy stuff can happen. When we split with them at Mariucci in 2022, it was a borderline miracle with how insanely stacked that gopher team was. Do I think we are the better overall team going into this weekend? Yep. But would I be surprised with a split or a sweep either direction? Nope. We have zero clue. I badly want a sweep of course, but given the fact that we swept the Tommies, I’d be content with a split.
  19. We wouldn’t have landed Rickwood. At the time we got him, we didn’t have a top 6 center at all. He mentioned that he and his agent recognized how big of a role he would get if he came here. Sort of sucks not having Boisvert due to his elite shooting. But at the same time, this team’s identity (or what it seems to be after 2 games) might not be built for someone with prima donna tendencies.
  20. They’ve made the frozen 4 twice in the last 4 years, including making the national championship game. Combine that with having a really good recruiting cycle so far and a new hockey-only NIL collective, I don’t anticipate them being in bad shape. But man I hope they bring the same game they played last weekend to the Ralph this coming weekend
  21. I see where you’re coming from, but I’ll respectfully disagree. The 2019-2020 team was on a different level of intensity and skill as well. Guys like Colton Poolman and Cole Smith brought so much soul to that team that it bled through to the rest. It even carried into 2020-2021 as that team may have been even better in some ways.
  22. He probably worked as part of St Cloud’s hockey broadcast team at his previous job.
  23. Love the picture with James finishing his check when the play seems to be going the other way. Leadership in still frame.
  24. Love the statement win for Hobie, super happy for him. But that is a rough loss for our league
  25. Verhoeff and Laurila are going to get some good reps in early. Plus with guys like Strathmann and Jubenvill who are already proven at the college level, we can afford an injury like this to let guys fully heal up.
