  1. I'm still like 5 pages behind on the thread so I apologize if this has already been brought up. But they penalty kill was lights out the last 2 months of the season. Don't get me wrong, it was horrendous and the worst we've seen the worst 3-4 months. But not having Zmolek combined with having several freshmen defensemen learning the system, and also combined with missing Berg and Jammer as regular PK forwards, it was the imperfect storm. There was nearly a 180 deg turnaround and that's attributable to him getting through to young players adjusting. I'm not saying let's make him king, but let's not be shortsighted on the personnel available this year. And all things considered, our PK has been notably good this past decade thanks to Jackson. This PK situation was an outlier.
  2. Idk how others in the forum feel, but with UND out, I’m all for western the rest of the way. Make it happen.
  3. The level of bravado we have sometimes is insane. Don’t forget he’s a young guy who now has roots which will play a role in that kind of decision. Especially since he’s not on a sinking ship.
  4. I’ll be happy to eat a mountain of crow if I’m wrong on this, but I don’t see Raboin coming here right now. He’s building a program and creating a legacy that he’s already started to leave his mark on. He has a new building and enough money to do some damage (yeah yeah I know it’s not the money we have). I’d love it if we got him and I’d love to be wrong. I just don’t think it’s going to happen.
  5. I actually think that BB thought he could turn that kid into a better person and man. And honestly, maybe being surrounded by a staff that would give him that opportunity and a second chance instead of getting written off would have turned his life around. That’s pretty optimistic thinking, but I think Brad truly believed he could rehabilitate that kid. And maybe it would have? But that’s neither here nor there haha
  6. I was pleasantly surprised that Schloss picked western to win yesterday when he published his game day article. It was refreshing haha
  7. Definitely would like to see Smaby and Chyzyk on the bench. I really like the idea of Nick Fohr in the mix. Not sure if he’d be at all interested but he’s someone who is probably an enticing option.
  8. I had the exact same thought
  9. Dang, it would appear I was not searching for deals well enough haha
  10. I finally bought my tickets last night for the game today. Does anyone else feel like the NCHC thought they would sell a lot more tickets and therefore ended up pricing some people out? I realize it’s inflamed with having zero Minnesota teams making it and maybe I’m just cheap haha, but the prices seemed high to me.
  11. Agreed. And If we lose, I want us to get beaten by a better team that played a great game. I don’t want us to beat ourselves like we’ve done via bad penalties, poor D zone coverage, blind passes or wide shots that result in rushes the other way, etc etc etc
  12. Man that team 2022 would have been on another level if we would have had an other center of his skill level. Dang
  13. I think the guys will give their all for 60 minutes. The problem with this team is that even when they are playing hard, they aren't always playing smart. They can get badly out of position or they can struggle mightily to pass through the neutral zone. It's often not an issue of effort as it's an issue of being outcoached or outsmarted. The phrase "who wants it more" doesn't always apply because we need it and probably want it more this weekend but that may not be enough. Not sure what anyone else thinks but that seems to be my viewpoint.
  14. That was 3x3 overtime and we were on the power play for a 4x3. We had to score a late extra attacker goal to tie it. At 5x5, we are outclassed by Western. But it's hockey so that means we have a fighting chance. I'm giving us a 20% chance of winning.
  15. lol even Berry wouldn’t do that right now…right?…. Wait….right?? Kidding aside, it’s time to sit Monty. If Emery is fully good to go, then bring in Croal for a shot in the arm, even if he’s just the extra skater. If Emery isn’t at full strength, then have Komzak as extra skater just in case Emery goes down partway through.
  16. Yeah western did not play with a Penrose hangover and they won’t take this weekend lightly. They have a solid chance to secure a 1-seed in the tourney and I see them likely grabbing it.
  17. Seeing St. Cloud struggle so much brings me an unreasonable amount of joy. But still not enough joy to balance out the frustration of our season’s issues
  18. I’d sit Monty for Croal and keep Komzak. Komzak wasn’t noticeable in a good way last night because the few shifts he got he played really simple hockey. He was quietly a +2 as well
  19. i got blocked by them a long time ago. They are to softest of all the snow flakes
  20. I didn’t get to watch the game so I’d like some objective rundown from anyone willing to provide. Did we deserve to win this game? Were we good at limiting second opportunities and allowing TJ to see pucks? Did we generate enough scoring chances that just didn’t land? Did we go long stretches without a decent SOG?
  21. That’s a small sample size for a guy who can go weeks without a point
  22. Good call on Mac and that combo. I’m more worried about Schmaltz bringing his offensive impotence to a line with a guy who is on fire as of late
  23. Perhaps. Or maybe he’s a senior who is graduating with a degree and wants to start his professional life.
  24. Strinden has been one of our best forwards lately, 8 points in the last 10 games. He’s been great at even strength. Hopefully schmaltz and Swanson don’t slow him down. There’s a remarkable difference in foot speed between him and the other too. I really hope Littler is a little dinged up because him being a healthy scratch would be insane
  25. I’m stunned (please insert sarcasm emoji here)
