And Cherry makes it seem unfair that good tax paying Canadians have their kids booted for better outsiders.......might be part of what makes the CHL such an elite league.
-
I'm all for Americans not being allowed in the chl. Preach on Cherry! And all those good foreigners can play college hockey too.
-
And I'll go further and give him credit for making that tough decision. How many times is a first line player demoted to zero ice time? I kind of questioned Mario Lucia being demoted as well, but I'm not going to question personnel moves anymore.
-
I agree with the whole he has talented players argument but at the same time he has found the right combos to get the job done. A lot of my hate towards Phil stemmed from Rocco not playing a single minute in a blowout. But the team and Rocco rallied. I didn't agree with that move, but it proved to be the right one. I'm on a message board, he is coaching team USA. Things are where they should be.
-
I already ate crow with hating on Phil. Done a good job. My question is, how many times has a high school coach been chosen to coach the u.s.? Once again, nice job Phil.
-
I'm the first one to eat crow when its presented before me on a platter, so I'll do so. Housley is obviously pushing the right buttons, and they got it together at the right time. Just think, this team faced a one and done with Slovakia Monday, and on Friday here they sit preparing for the gold medal game. Funny how sports work. While I'm eating crow I better throw out an atta boy to Gibson. His performance against Finland left a lot to be desired, but he has been absolutely amazing since that game. Canada easily could have got back in that game, but he made sure it didn't happen. The gold medal game will be like the Final Five without the gophers. In this case we'll have a lot of fans cheering for Sweden that aren't wearing blue and gold.

I hope you more know about hockey than I do.
-
Here we go again.....Canada and the United States. Both teams playing pretty good hockey, the U.S. needs to get to Subban early, and maybe get themselves a lead. I'll predict 4-2 Canada.
-
I see Eades in the college game in the near future. The guy is a proven head coach.
-
If they play like that against Canada they'll win the game. Simple as that. Good goaltending, good special teams play, guys buried their chances, and although they played in their end a bit they made it tough for the Czechs to get the puck tot he net. Seth Jones showed defensively why he'll be a top pick in the draft. He length altered a lot of pucks, and he made some great outlets out of the zone. Startin to come together Pepper....

6-0 USA. Gaudreau with the hat trick. I think people have been waiting all tournament long for some of this playmaking. Its been fun to watch. 6-0 end of the second period. Will try and get some sleep before work.....if my one year old lets me.....
-
Must be because Blais is a former gopher. That has to be it.
-
4-0 USA half way through. Since I've been watching the puck has been in their end the entire time but Gibson has been great and they scored after a Czech player took a run at Seth Jones. Ohh. And Grant Potulny is the greatest ever....I'm surprised he's not coaching on Jupiter. 5-0 now USA. Head hunting coming from the Czechs.....watch out.
-
I've thought the same thing. Potulny and Osieki (sp) have a bit of experience, but how did Housley end up as the head coach of the most elite 20 and under players in the United States. What about.... ~Jeff Jackson ~Jack Parker ~Jerry York ~Don Lucia ~Mike Hastings ~George Gwozdecky ~Rico Blasi.... Pretty qualified college coaches if you ask me.

Just like Minnesota fans knew to cheer for Ferris State when UND was at the mooch a few years earlier. To think, fans cheer against their rival team even when they're not playing their team.....weird.....
-
Very good discussion topic. I'm still about getting the puck to the net and seeing what happens. Drills in practice are now set up where players are taught to shoot low to the pads or stick of the goaltender to create a rebound for a teammate. We saw Grimaldi do this against Denver for a Rowney goal, and here is a clip of Brad Malone doing it against CC which won the game for UND. I know there is a lot of videos out there which would speak against my theory, but in this situation you have a CC player that gains the zone, and instead of shooting the puck or getting it to the net he stops and looks for a pass. CC turns the puck over and the rest his history.

Bob McKenzie is pretty accurate as far as reporting whats going on in the hockey world. So when he says that Rocco was benched for attitude thats going to raise questions about a player that has been praised at every level for work ethic and attitude. My heart wants to throw the entire coaching staff under the bus and call them unqualified to coach at this level. But I won't.....And you're right, comment about Housley's kid deleted.....
-
Shooting the puck is never the wrong choice if you're down. A pass is a chance for a mistake in a scoring situation.
-
Holy Cross has had their fair share of success at the Ralph..... There, someone posted it....everyone was thinking of it.....now all we need is a Minnesota fan to come in and post something about living in the past, etc.

Quarters play out like this: Russia (2) vs. Switzerland (3).....Winner to play Sweden Czech Rep. (2) vs. USA (3)....Winner to play Canada I like the USA's chances against Czech Republic, should win that game. Russia will beat Switzlerand, then I think Russia beats Sweden and locks up with Canada in the gold medal game.
-
At a loss for Grimaldi sitting. Thought that he brought some energy and was a sparkplug against Russia and Canada. Doesn't really matter I guess. This team will be lucky to get a bronze.
-
Good night for the WCHA. Obviously not the same Tech team showed up in Detroit that got killed by UND. And they did it without probably their best player.
-
8-1 Goldy.....wowser. Congrats to Tech on winning the GLI.....and they didn't get scored on.....wow.
-
4-0......ruh roh #1 team. Wilcox looks great in the net for Minnesota.
