Five guys with the philosophy of not allowing time or space when they don't have the puck. When they have the puck get it to the net as much as possible, and carry the puck into the zone as much as possible, even when they didn't have numbers. Last night in the third period Yale was forced to dump it by three QU players back after a change. It was a 2 on 3 rush, and whomever had the puck for Yale played a PERFECT lob dump into the corner where Miller could get it on his stick right away. It was like a flag pattern in football that Miller and his linemate played to perfection. Yale then kept the puck in the zone for about an entire shift and created two or three good chances from not giving away possession.

Unique. Usually you'll see that at like a DIII school or NJCAA school. I know that Williston State, MSU-Bottineau, and I believe Minot State have something similar to this on their websites. UND obviously needs to put something like this up at fightingsioux.com.

Watching this Wild game is boring compared to the Yale-QU game. Even in OT.....four on four.....just no pace. Lose the puck in the offensive end then start playing defense.....

I'll agree with Yale was a better team than UND. If Clark Saunders doesn't play one of his better games of the year Yale wins that game 6-1. Had UND held on for 8 more minutes who knows....I don't think there is such thing as an underdog anymore in college hockey. No more Holy Cross type stories.

Maybe thats a bit of it. I still feel awful for the Pony Express group. Hak admits that he didn't let that group really cherish any of their accomplishments, and in the end they didn't get the job done with the business type approach. Heck, when UND won their national championship in 97 they showed up with their cowboy hats on and just giddy and having a helluva time. Who knows, but definitely liked to see Yale truly have a good time.

UND was eight minutes away from beating this Yale team. A bad bounce through Simpson, and next thing you know its 4-1 Yale. Yeah, I'm believing in destiny now too. Michigan wins, Yale is done for the year. Instead they get in, win some OT games, and play their best game of the year in the title game. Yale earned my respect too.

How does that Peca kid end up at Quinnipiac? How does BU/BC/Maine/(Insert other eastern school) not end up with this kid.

I'm a huge fan of Yale's system. Puck pressure in all zones. No matter what line is on the ice, puck pressure. Quinnipiac's big guy lives behind the net, has a great game against SCSU because they basically give him the space below the goal line. Yale says screw that, and he isn't able to get comfortable down there because he's got a guy with him attacking his stick the entire time. Give credit to both teams. Its not a zone to zone game. The pace is fantastic.

I think this is hockey at its purist form. Up and down the ice, no space for anybody. If a puck is dumped, they go and try and get it. And of course, the goaltending has been crisp. Makes for good hockey.

This is the best 0-0 game I've seen for a while. Fun to watch. I mean, unless you've been to a Wisconsin game.

I wouldn't mind seeing UND turn into a puck pressure team. Maybe the new league means more pace to games. And a dive gets called on after Peca falls....(no relation to Michael Peca).

Well after the Texas A&M spring game was on earlier I was figuring the men's baseball team would be up next.

Hold on guys, I'm pretty riveted by this softball game.....I'm hopefull for extra innings.
  17. My moniker is way cooler than my actual name.....way cooler.....But I don't want to get taken out by that guy that went all Steven A. Smith on me after Minnesota beat BSU 10-1 both nights after UND tied them.
  18. No Moniker.....ufff......green or black.....business suits.....or green.....errrr... Black.
  19. I'm guessing the eastern votes were split, and the western votes went the way of the guy that seemed like he was at SCSU forever...... Congrats to Mr. LeBlanc, a well deserved honor.
  20. First period killed SCSU. Three chances, three goals. Two teams playing some pretty good hockey. Should be a good championship game. I'll say Yale....3-2.
  21. Saw Hartzell play for Sioux Falls against the Fargo Force at the first ever game at the then Urban Plains Center. (Force won 2-1) Game winning goal was scored by Luke Witkowski (Western Mich, just went pro), and the Force goaltender was SCSU's own Mike Lee. Believe Nate Condon scored a goal in that game too. Hartzell's dad was coaching Sioux Falls then. Thought he was pretty good then.
  22. PS: Wish Gary Thorne was doing the play by play. Him or Doc....
  23. Love Buccigross, but he needs to relax with the whole "Save by Hartzell" in the deep voice.
  24. To quote the great Doug Woog, "Your goaltending has to be there."
