  1. I used to coach High School hockey in Wahpeton before they made the move to Minnesota, and its a difficult situation for all. Yes, we got murdered by Central, Red River, South, to name a few. When you have one group with so much talent against a group with less talent and less bodies you are in for an ugly situation in hockey. In Wahpeton we only had enough my first few years to play two lines every single game with a player or two to rotate in on the second line. I'll leave it at this. I have so much respect for Tony Bina who used to coach GFC. We played them one year in Grand Forks and they had Paul LaDue, Simonson, Danny Ray, Casey Purpur, and Luke Johnson to name a few on a really really good team that won the state championship later that year. We had one shot on goal that came from the red line. Final score: GFC 11 Wahpeton 0. Yes, it doesn't have to get that bad.
  2. If the UND team that was there from around the 4 minute mark of the third period in NYC shows up for the start of this one theres no doubt its a sweep. If the UND team that made Ed Minney (who?) into an All American goaltender for MSU shows up then we've got more Fire Berry threads and bring Dean back talks after Western gets the tcos (copyright Hammer). Just heard Boeser now changing U.S. citizenship, and will play for Canada at World Juniors, and from there head to the Windsor Spitfires. Rumor of course.
  3. When Cam is on and in the zone (see SCSU, UMD last year), there isn't a better goaltender in college hockey. We can all moan about bad goals that he's given up, but find me a game this year that he lost for the team when they completely outplayed the opponent, but his goaltending was the deciding factor. I tried to find a goalie in college hockey that I'd rather have, and the only one that makes the list as a maybe is Jaillet from Denver.
  4. I think the world of Bubba, but you have to let them score there. As soon as they got inside the ten you let them score and have a timeout left and about a minute to try and tie the football game. Better scenario....Eighteen yard field goal with no time left, or a minute left with one timeout needing a touchdown to tie game? Our offense wasn't great, but in that situation it's a better option.
  5. Rhett's penalty reminded me of a penalty taken by Dan "Jim" Senkbeil against Denver. UND had all the momentum against Denver and he hit a guy from behind literally three feet away from Denver's bench and right in front of Gwoz, no choice for the officials. Got a major and Denver scored two quick ones and it's a hockey game. Tonight UND is ready to head to the third period with all the mo in the world and then that happens and we are on the kill the first quarter of period three, BC gets two and we got a whole new game and only 11 forwards. Credit to the guys that came together after it was tied up.
  6. Thoughts: Some great saves by Cam, he was pretty good early when shots were 15-5. Rhett....... After BC tied it up it was all UND. That moment things just fell into place. Got the puck deep, worked the cycle, utilized the points and were great defensively. Fun to watch. Wilkie's best game. Could have had three or four points.
  7. Anybody think Karen Deboer could be lured to Grand Forks to coach the offense? Is Eastern Michigan FBS DI?
  8. I watch a guy run into a punter giving a team new life..... Then I watched a guy rip off a guys face mask giving yet another team new life.....
  9. One dumb play......good lord....... They need to check for offsides on entry. But it's likely 2-2.
  10. I am at a lack of words for that penalty by Rhett......good lord. 2-1 now.
  11. I hate to be on the one play decides a game wagon, but it likely did. Play a safe punt return and Richmond quits down three scores and on defense on their side of the fifty in the fourth. This group gave us all a ride, fun while it happened, but don't think offensively they had enough to win it all. Feel bad for the seniors, not the way to end it. Im a Viking fan so I'm used to this happening....
  12. The better team at the end won. Can't play offense like that in the end.
  13. I put Santiago back to return the kick. Time for a momentum swing.
  14. Watching him win battles against much bigger individuals is what I was referring to. Guys that have 40 pounds on him, and three or four inches.
  15. Watching Stecher play last night was a treat. No way that a defenseman his size should be that successful in the NHL winning battles, etc. I don't have any NHL jerseys, but Stecher may be the first one I get. Read some fan blogs and they absolutely love the guy, the same way he was loved in Grand Forks. Never thought I'd be cheering for the Canucks of all teams.
