Having Bast back is a big deal. Moore has been a pleasant surprise on the back end, but you could put him as the extra skater tonight. Not sure about other possible injuries, but I think we are just about at full strength for this series. Lets come out with some fire period 1 and put three in on Chrona(virus). Not sure why they started the other guy on Saturday against Omaha, but he wasn't sharp whatsoever, and cost them two points. STAY THE BLEEEEP OUT OF THE BOX. And another thing. STAY THE BLEEP OUT OF THE BOX. -
I think this is pretty close. If you did a statewide league at both the A and AA then you are ensuring that the best teams are at the state tournament in both leagues instead of region tournaments happening and the annual 1E vs. 4W beat down. You could also see a possible GFC-Red River or Fargo Davies-Fargo South, Bismarck High-Century quarterfinal matchups that would add some fire to the opening round of the tournament. With an A league you could see schools like Shanley, Park River, or a Rugby possibly try to give it a go independently. That being said I have zero knowledge of the current numbers the aforementioned have in their program, and if its even feasible for them. If having an A league meant adding high school teams all over the state and Wahpeton coming back its a win win in my book. I look at a school like Red Lake Falls in Minnesota. Used to coach against them every year. They'd have 16 skaters and 2 goalies in their entire high school program and always found a way to play both jv and varsity schedules.

Got to make that 0-16, they forfeited their game at Williston, another likely loss. I checked their bantam team and they are getting waxed in the Bantam B1 ranks. Thats basically the third tier of Bantam hockey in ND right now, outscored 16-44 according to the NDAHA website. Got a decent number of Bantam kids for a small program but the high school team will have a bleak outlook the next several years. I too credit the people there for keeping the program going. 0 for the season in any sport has to be difficult. You would think having an A and AA in ND high school hockey would help them possibly get more kids out. At the same time, knowing what I know about the NDHSAA they could care less if it doesn't involve their precious basketball or football.

You know you're playing a team too much when its a supposed rivalry series and the thread isn't more than a page long. If it wasn't for Denver not having any fans, what would there be to talk about? -
Now Fargo North has to forfeit their last two games due to Covid. Hope they get to compete in the region tournament.
-
Anybody know the second tiebreaker in ND high school hockey? I'm told that HB forfeited their second game to Williston, so if Williston beats Dickinson and Bismarck High loses to the Jays from Jamestown they'll both be at 28 points, and head to head they both won in OT when they played. Minot and Century will also finish tied, and they split the regular season. Kind of a big deal this year as Tuesday is the start of the region tournament, and teams in the West are traveling to the higher seed for the first two rounds.

So are that lady's/guy's articles likely read by more UND fans in the long run or the three Denver fans? -
And there is the other issue! You try to keep the future in mind, but how many kids are going to quit if you're throwing them out there against the best 12 year olds in a town of 120,000 plus and getting killed? We always said think of the long term impact, but like @Frozen4sioux said, money talks, gotta keep kids in the program to have a program in the long run.
-
That's exactly what I said when I first saw it. How do you let that happen to one of your teammates? Absolute murder from behind.

If I'm the program coordinator at a place like Devils Lake, Grafton, Williston, etc. I've got my Bantam and Pee Wee A teams playing as many AA teams as possible. Play in the A conference if you want, and that state tournament, but I'd schedule the AA teams in the state as much as they'd play me. I see that Hazen doesn't have a Bantam A team. For the best of the program, maybe? But if you're going to keep throwing the kids out there with Minot-Century-BHS-Jamestown as 10-12th graders before they get to high school might be a good time to try and get them up to speed for what its going to look like up there. I coached for Wahpeton when they played ND, and our feeder teams all played B hockey. They finished okay in their B1 and B2 state tournaments in the youth level, but when they got up to the EDC and the high school ranks??? Yeah.....go to the high school website archives and look at the scores. I'm all for two classes in the high school ranks. Would schools like Divide County, Langdon, and Watford City become high school sanctioned? Good question. At the same time it gives the opportunity for a school like Hazen to actually compete instead of going 0 for the season. And maybe Wahpeton comes back to ND at the A level.

I'm going to need an explanation from the NCHC on how Mismash gets a game after his play where he didn't touch the head of the goalie, and the Duluth guy who went straight into the crease with the puck on his stick and knees the goalie in the head knocking his helmet off. Its good to be Duluth. With the riches come the spoils I guess. When you're the defending champ the conference treats you well.
-
Davies vs. Grafton on BEK, and 5 minutes in it isn't close.
-
I'm sure any minute. Heck, direct contact to the head of a goalie in the crease, in the third period. We know how that turns out right? Any minute......yep. Any time now....

I reread that story about the move that Jocelyn used in the gold medal game and still me to this day it befuddles me that Joc and Mo almost didn't make the Olympic team that year. I'm biased as hell, but they don't beat Canada without the Lamoureux sisters.

2020-21 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
Wilbur replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Just about everything about Omaha made sense. Walking distance to the hotels, med school, two rinks. The only big issue was the teams having to move in and out of the locker rooms seventeen different times or having a makeshift locker room set up in a hallway with plywood benches and curtains for privacy. As for GF I'm guessing the CanAd inn will one of the central hosts of the teams with floors of the hotel blocked off for the different teams like what happened in Omaha. They have enough conference rooms/ball rooms at the Alerus plaza there to make private team meals a thing, and also a testing area for teams. Not sure of the present capabilities of the UND med school, but Altru is just over the bridge from campus so any health issues could be handled quickly. Opposing fans have this vision of 12,000 rowdy drunkards yelling at their teams in their Sioux jerseys when that simply won't be the case. Any game not featuring UND I'm guessing there will be 300 or less butts in the seats. Or just like every Big Ten tournament game at Joe Louis Arena. -
What in the......12 days until we have an actual football game? I can't believe its so close. Nothing like a noon kickoff in late February to open up the football season! The thing that still hurts the most about this season is not getting @Teeder11's fantastic reports from the bleachers of Memorial Stadium. Now, I have zero clue who has looked good leading up to the start of the season.

Wait, Brad Johnson actually lead Tom Brady in something?

2020-21 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
Wilbur replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Regardless of whether the tournament took place in Grand Forks or Baxter again its probably the right move. I'm a bit shocked the NCAA has decided to keep the regionals where they are at for the time being. Wouldn't surprise me going forward though if all the West teams stayed out west and the east teams stayed east. At the same time its February and they don't have another place to host the NE regional yet. -

And all the teams will get their own locker room.......imagine that...... -
Glad that was a 3 gamer. How does Spooner not end up at UND? Do you know if we recruited him at all?

I don't consider myself a football expert, but that game is literally what Cousins has to deal with for the Vikings just about every game. And then you have guys that don't get touched like Brady and Rodgers and no wonder those guys put up the numbers they do. If Mahomes had to deal with that every game no way he's got a 300 million dollar contract and is a part owner of a MLB team. Big big reason I scream at the NFL draft every season the Vikings don't draft offensive lineman in the first round, 2nd round, and 3rd round.
