  1. Looks like we have an FBS cornerback transferring in. Follow Ben Wait‏@bcwait Source says former Bulldog Jahmere Irvin-Sills is transferring to the University of North Dakota. http://www.hailstate.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=16800&ATCLID=208658483
  2. Let them have their protest. Having the Sioux were Silenced group be the organizer of the no nickname protest does more harm for the no nickname supporters cause than it does good.
  3. John Dahl also sharing some of his thoughts...which includes quotes from Jdub. http://blog.siouxsports.com/2015/07/22/fighting-hawks/ My fear is that people will believe that the logo posted in the comments will be what UND would adopt as a logo. And for that reason, rally behind Fighting Hawks. It's not a bad logo, but I think that it may too closely resemble the old logo and for that reason, the NCAA would approve the name but not the logo.
  4. I think UND officials hear them very well. I just think the UND officials/decision makers feel it's best to adopt a new nickname versus not adopting one. I tend to agree with them. The only mistake they made concerning the no nickname option, at least in my opinion, was not axing it early on.
  5. I'm afraid of the same thing. It is my second choice on the list, but it's a pretty distant second choice. I believe one of the first criteria listed for the committee in selecting a new name talks about uniqueness. There is absolutely nothing unique with copying what several other DI schools did when forced to change their name.
  6. I decided to take a quick look at the facebook page for the Sioux were silenced. It appears they now feel the need to clarify the reason for the protest.... Here's a quote from their facebook post: "Details are limited right now. One thing that needs to be clarified is that this is NOT a rally in support of the Fighting Sioux name. in and of itself. Rather, we are in the midst of planning a rally in support of North Dakota being brought back as an option. As is the interest of the majority of UND's stakeholders. Continue following our page for more details as they arrive"
  7. This will surely help the cause to keep the "no-nickname" option alive. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/3802341-breaking-news-pro-fighting-sioux-group-plans-protest
  8. This is the only thing I agree with with considering the "No nickname" option. I don't believe UND officials were ever going to allow not picking a new name (which I agree with) and that it should have been removed much earlier in the process.
  9. I have a hard time believing that the NCAA wouldn't allow the Nickel Trophy to be played for. The NCAA allowed certain concessions with the Ralph, allowing the arena to keep some Sioux logos due to historical references. The Nickel trophy has historical ties to US Currency.
  10. Exactly. The UND fans who are complaining about the trolls are the ones feeding them. Ignore them and they will go away. Many times a troll who isn't getting the attention they seek will post more and more outlandish material...which will get them banned. So in summary, ignore the trolls!
  11. And yet another view on the Roughrider nickname... http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/letters/3799103-letter-roughriders-history-complicates-name
  12. Tom Dennis of the GF Herald chimes in... http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/featured-columnists/3798248-our-opinion-roughriders-dirty-word-or-strong-choice-und I would be a bit surprised if the GFH doesn't support Sundogs...
  13. Easiest way to get rid of a troll is ignore them. Are all the bison fans that post here trolls? No. But the ones that are, I'm sure there getting a kick by all the attention they are getting by riling up quite a few posters here. I don't get to worked up about the trolls, I just don't respond. In fact it's a bit more annoying having UND posters feed into them because it just keeps them around longer. Just my 2 cents. No need to get after the moderators...moderate yourself by ignoring or putting them on ignore if you'd like.
  14. Looks like I will have to make two trips to NYC in 2016! The football team plays at Stony Brook in September also.
  15. Looks like Jeff will get the chance to continue playing some baseball and with the best team in baseball...ok, I may be a bit biased on the last part as I'm a life long Braves fan. Congrats to Jeff! Jeff Campbell ‏@catfishy21 41m41 minutes ago The last week has brought so much joy. I am happy to say that I will be signing with the Atlanta Braves and continuing my baseball career!
  16. Hooker seems to be enjoying playing sand volleyball! Haven't asked him any basketball related questions though...
  17. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's certain they have to cut it down to three. I thought I remember reading that the committee has the option to narrow it to four or even two if they wanted.
  18. Yes, I guess I should've realized this. Lowell was referring to the original request for suggestions in April. Anyone could submit as many names as they wanted...remember how many suggestions there were for Ermines??? It was the most popularly submitted name, other than Fighting Sioux maybe. Which doesn't mean the most popular due to being able to submit multiple names.
  19. Did he say this? I don't recall reading that. Could you provide a link? EDIT, Nevermind, I see the article he stated it in...
  20. . The more good choices the more of a split in the masses, and ultimately less people happy with the end result. This whole process was for people to buy into one or two names tops so there is more acceptance. If the final vote was split four ways, (ie 30%, 26%, 24%, 20%) you would have 70% unhappy with result. One or two options means you have close to 50% or more that are happy with the end result. Might not seem like a good process now, but I believe it is being done the right way, and that is to build consensus around one maybe two names...right now that is happening with Roughriders. Edit: I should also say I will wait until the end to see what is selected. At this point in the process, if it's anything besides roughriders, I will be a bit disappointed.
  21. Agreed. I will reserve judgement until I see what the final results are. There is clearly a front runner at this point. If that front runner isn't one of the final three options, then I think criticism is warranted. And I'm not talking about "no nickname" as I don't think that's I viable option.
  22. Combination of that and probably Rob Port continuously voting Nodth Dakota to support his agenda.
  23. Here's a link to the latest "In-Forum" poll. http://www.inforum.com/basic-page/3767452-inforum-nickname-challenge-final-7 Roughriders currently in the lead. No idea how many votes though.
