2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
ND_Texan replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
We'll back to #1 after opening a can of Whoop Ass on the Duloot One Liners Saturday night. Or sooner if Minny knocks off PSU (Michigan won't lose to Notre Dame, so don't even think about that). -

Anyone have any good One Liners? -

That only happens with fighting majors, not grabbing the face mask. So no. -
Isn't the committee forced to have #1 play #16, in all fairness to the rankings?
-
Hate to say I told you so, but... BC is out of the national tournament unless they run the tables in their H.E. tourney. Won't happen. Apparently those who said they'd get in a couple weeks ago didn't look at their schedule.

The confidence aspect is huge. Look how Western rolled through the conference tournament and nationals last year. They carried themselves like they were unbeatable, and they were right. -

Yeah, like Western last year....oh, wait.... -
Yeah, the squad you were up against had something to do with that. Rinse and repeat tonight.
-
Those announcers were the worst. When Zellers scored his nifty backhander from a near impossible angle they ho-hummed it like an empty netter. Those two clowns made me wish for the St. Cloud duo.
-
With a sweep of Western on their ice tonight UND would finish #1 in the NPI going into conference tournaments. Go get it done. We want to be the #1 seed throughout the nationals.

Says Jeremy Roenick: "Shame on everybody for not celebrating this. Sports is not supposed to be political. It’s supposed to unite the country. We’re all supposed to get together and believe in one thing. I think 99% of Americans on social media was loving it. And then you turn around and see the politicization of the sport, and it’s just not right. The hypocrites are coming out in droves and it’s unfortunate we can’t take the greatest moments in sports and all celebrate it. It’s a real shame." The majority of the criticism aimed at Team USA came after players spoke with President Trump over the phone in the locker room. The president invited the team to his State of the Union address and several players expressed excitement for the opportunity. "There’s going to be a lot of droopy eyes. There’s gonna be a lot of hair all messed up but I’m telling you, they’re gonna represent the U.S. exactly like they did over there in Italy. They’re gonna show up with pride. They’re gonna put their thumbs up to the president, who is doing an amazing job. Our country has never been better and our sports, and hockey, has never been better. And that is something to be proud of."

After watching Western against CC this past weekend, they definitely can be had. If not for Western's goalie they would have been eliminated for the Penrose. They are tenacious forecheckers but not impressed at all with their D corps. They don't deserve a top seed in the regionals. I see a split and 3 points this weekend at worst. Raise the cup in the Zoo!

Those odds are about the same as me hooking up with Sydney Sweeney. -
Is Ben's grandpa Earl still around? I've been gone a long time.

I'm putting BC right on the bubble and Providence with the Big East autobid. BC's remaining regular season games are all tough ones (by Big East standards). -

Great analysis. Another thing that impresses me about this team over many in the past years is their ability to shoot the puck. I'd like to know how many goals have grazed the pipes, roofed bar down, or cornered up top blocker side. These guys can fire the puck, and do it with accuracy. -
Bemidji style hockey.

You heard it here first. I predict Duluth escapes Miami this coming weekend with one win/one loss. Then Duluth (#4) plays Miami (#5) again in the first round of the playoffs and gets knocked out. These three losses to Miami eliminate Duluth from a National playoff birth. After watching Miami this last weekend, they've got just the kind of team (tenacious checking, outstanding goaltending and just enough offense) to bottle up the Plante line and take them down.

Miami's goalie didn't make the Mike Richter award finalist list, but should have. Based on this weekend he should win it. -
I watched them beat Western last weekend with this style of play. Western outshot them but were out-physicalled by Miami. By the 3rd period Western was trying to avoid hits rather than skating offensively. Miami's #2 delivered some big clean hits.

That one-timer by Max Plante was one of the wildest I've seen all year. He had no clue where it might go, and in fact was headed about 8' wide. That it hit his brother's leg and bounced in the back door is the epitome of puck luck. Dylan James had about as much blame for that goal as I did sitting in front of my TV.
