  1. If that game had been 2 minutes longer, the result would’ve flipped. UND was out hustled for most of the 2nd half and it showed.
  2. Ok, let's derail every single thread that has to do with UND football. That's cool.
  3. Ahh man, this was such a positive thread. We almost made it 1 page before a debbie downer showed up. Seriously, I'm sick of all the complaining. Go back to the Fire Rudolph thread or coaching regime change thread if you want to rant. And no, I'm not in the "its ok to be medicore" crowd, but I don't need to read negative comment after negative comment all the time, because guess what, that won't change who our OC is. Its fun to talk about the players coming back, who could have a breakout year, who will provide depth, etc. It's ok to be positive even after a 3-8 season. It really is.
  4. Any chance this was part of the hold up in Jones’ contract negotiations? If what people on here have said is true about men’s b-ball wanting Nike, it really wouldn’t surprise me if this decision played a part.
  5. I wasn't a big fan of the Saturday 11am starts when there was football the same day. I'm a football and tailgating season pass holder, so going to volleyball in the morning wasn't really an option. The problem is, I'm not sure what the solution is. A Sunday match would be better, but I also know people that might be in town for football or hockey could be heading out of town before the match, depending on the time. Tough call.
  6. Didn't he quit the team? Or am I thinking of someone else...
  7. Tempo doesn't necessarily refer to fast or quick. We don't have to run a hurry-up style offense to have tempo. We can have a smashmouth style and still have tempo, but when you're not moving the ball because you don't have the flexibilty or mindset to not be as predictable as this offense has been, you have zero tempo or rhythm, which in turn creates zero momentum.
  8. Montana St made adjustments. From what I could tell, UND didn’t. That was the biggest disappointment from last night.
  9. Some people keep referring to last years success and how it’s the same offense, same playbook. Right, it is. And I agree with some that the defense played a huge role in last years success. But what is being missed in all of this is that we don’t have the same players as last year. And we didn’t have the injuries last year like we do now. So yes, same offense, but as a play caller, you can’t expect a less experienced group to perform the same. You can use the same playbook, but you have to alter it to the talent you have available. That’s where I’m fed up with the playcalling. It isn’t the actual plays themselves, it’s the manner in which they are used. Those are the changes an OC has to be able to make, and Rudolph clearly hasn’t done that.
  10. They've been singing the anthem for UND athletics for years.
  11. You will never see the full potential of this team with this playcalling. Bubba talks about recruiting tall, athletic basketball players for wide receivers because they’re good with body position/control, can jump, and are multi-sport athletes. But god forbid they throw a fade route on first down at the Sac State 19 when our 6’4” WR is in man coverage against a 5’10” corner. We don’t have to wait until we’re down by 17 to see Wanzek make catch after catch over the heads of the defense. It makes zero sense.
  12. He redshirted in 2013.
  13. I listened for a bit and from what I gathered, the announcement was about airing the pre-game tailgate show on the radio, 1440 I believe.
  14. He was on the kickoff team, which means he was on the field quite a bit as the Riders put up some good numbers. But as far as the defense, yeah, he hit the field once the game was in hand.
  15. They could, but so could the Alerus, so could the football team, etc. If they were to use the official school color, they'd still be different from the various shades of green around them, so I'd imagine that until everyone is on board, they'll stick with the black.
  16. As for punt returning duties...I watched Seibel attempt two punt returns and he dropped them both. I still don't understand why he's in the rotation. McKinney, Hunt, Santiago...they all looked the part and received the kicks well.
  17. Not including green in the uniforms also had to do with the numerous shades of green around the Alerus, from the different greens in fans clothing to the green field, to the green decor on the walls surrounding the field to the green helmets to green jerseys. If there was one main color everyone went with, I think you would've seen more in the uniform. I'm not a big fan of the all black unis either, but I understand the point.
  18. That's my understanding as well. I hadn't heard anything about being an independent until the article came out about the home and home with Montana, which I believe is wrong. The original term used to classify the football team's status for those two years was "affiliate member".

    Beer

There was a law in MN that prohibited breweries from selling their own beer in their Brewery. That was fought by Surly, and is often referred to as the Surly law as the law has now changed. That's a big reason for seeing a lot more microbrews popping up in MN.
  20. Unfortunately you're right. The Dean asked the music dept chair for recommendations for cuts. Music therapy was not part of those recommendations, yet it didn't seem to matter. I guess everyone has an agenda, regardless of how clear it is.
  21. While music therapy didn't have the enrollment that civil engineering or commercial aviation did/does, it was low enrollment because they kept it quite selective. Music therapy also had a 100% job placement for their graduates, so your comment is incorrect. Ed Schafer dropped the ball when it came to music therapy. Period.
  22. The new fiscal year is right around the corner, as is the end of Jones' mini-extension. Think those two are related?? I'd imagine so. For an athletic department that has no money, how do you sign a coach for an extension worth hundreds of thousands of dollars? You wait for July 1st when the money (and budget) is available. Does UND need to go public with each step in the process? No, I don't believe they do. Is it strange it's taking this long? Sure, but if Jones wasn't being re-signed he'd be gone by now. The guy would be coaching elsewhere at this time of the year.
