A lot of fans use "we" when referring to their team, even though they don't play for the team, so even though this was a Sioux fan who made the statement, and you've been corrected already, I still think it's a pretty petty argument to make. As far as what do they owe the team? Players make a commitment to play for a team, and they should honor that commitment. The school's commitment is to give them a top quality education for free. However, it goes beyond that. In the adult world, which maybe you'll enter sometime, when you make a commitment, your character is judged on that commitment, especially when you break it. The "me" attitude isn't what wins in hockey, nor in life.

With 3 other Gophers on the World Juniors team, this could definitely cause some conflict on the team! Can Team USA dismiss him? Not that they would necessarily want to, though I think if I were coach, I'd definitely want to talk to all 4 Gopher players to see if it was going to cause any animosity. Terrible break for the Gophers though!

Happy Festivus Sioux fans!!!

Gopher fans would get upset if they didn't have anyone on the WJC roster, as they wouldn't have the traditional "They're tired from the World Juniors," excuse that we hear about every year!

And the Sioux ended up shorthanded out of that ordeal. Gave Finley 2 minutes for making sure Wheeler wasn't involved in the incident.
-
Here's that scrum.
-
I know we didn't have any one in '02, and I know Parise, and I think Greene made it in '03.
-
That's correct.
-
Pretty sure the last year we didn't have a player in the WJT was 2002.
-
They also played the Capitals on Monday evening, so yeah, they've played 4 games in the past week.
-
Wouldn't that be a reflection of recruiting? Seeing a few guys who aren't motivated is probably typical. We went through the same thing with Travis Roche, who didn't like to practice, but he would put it all out there when the game was on the line. However, if you only have 5 or 6 guys who want to give it there all, then there's some problem on that team. Maybe they don't have the leaders in the locker room that they need; maybe they just don't have the character that Parker had hoped would be there. They have to know though, that their play in college dictates a lot of their future.

I can post it a little later, but you have to wait until after all of the games are done for today (Devils/Flyers and Blackhawks/Panthers), as I have to watch my former Sioux players! I may be able to get it in an intermission though too, however, that would interrupt my Playstation hockey time!

Parise and Zajac each with an assist in today's Devils/Flyers game. Back on the same line again. Toews plays in about a half hour.
-
Stafford scores his 7th of the year in tonights Sabres/Blackhawks game. Toews has an assist thus far.
-
Parise nets his 15th goal of the season in this afternoon's Devils/Coyotes game.

Thanks PCM!

No. That was 2nd period and no scoring happened until the 3rd.
-
12:35 left in the 2nd period. That was when the puck was loose in close by Frazee and the Sioux went after it, and Gopher players went in to protect the goalie. Wheeler was in facing the scrum and Finley came in and dragged him out like the rag doll.

What? We lost to the Gophers?? Fire Hakstol!!!

The continuous mumbling of trying to get something out, which he can't quite find the words for, is hilarious. Yeah, may be the booze doing the talking (or the lack of), but it is amusing. You come to expect the things you hear from Mazacco and Woog. It's like TH being a Sioux homer. And yes Goon, Wooger is so much better than Norton, though they both have similar mumbling characteristics at times!
-
Saturday night's game, about the 10 minute mark of the 2nd period is where they begin talking about it.
-
So, basically, every time you tee off??
-
Was that in the same string of events at the end of the 2nd? I can't see anything on replay, other than when Malone took him down.
-
I don't know which replay of which game you're watching, but it's very arguable. It's very tough to tell who played it into the zone. The Sioux player hits the puck, but Wheeler's stick is right there as well. Wheeler takes control of it as soon as the puck comes into the zone, but the question is who hit the puck into the zone. If the Sioux hit it into the zone, it's a fair puck. EDIT: My personal feeling is that the play was offside, but it's very difficult to tell.
