Having a strong D helps a lot to win road games. Our Big Sky champion team had a fairly solid D and finished 9-2, unfortunately we crapped the bed in the 2nd half in the playoffs. Since then the defense started to get worse, coincidentally so has our road record.

This maybe a one score game, dependent on offensive efficiency and if we can get YSU off the field. Their style is similar to ours when relating to time of possession. I think they are one of the leaders in FCS. If we can get up early we should win, if down early not sure how many possessions we get if they control the ball. One good thing is this is their 3rd straight top 10 game and they may have some players not at a 100 percent.

What happens a lot I think is, a kid being offered more. Team A offers 80,000 NIL and kid verbally commits and then Team B offers 150,000. So kid decommits and commits to 2nd school.

USD is down early to YSU, YSU qb is a fast runner and throws well. We will not have a gimme game next week, due to our poor history against running QB’s.

What helps next week YSU is playing us after games against SDSU and USD. One would think they would be banged up coming in.

Our D (was pessimistic early) looked more solid, first half we did look average at times, which is an improvement. 2nd half we played more like we did 2nd half against Montana, especially late 3rd and 4th quarter. As I mentioned earlier UNI has a 3 guys making the game plan and their offense looked disjointed. They have no identity on offense. Offensively I think we can run a series or two with Jerry, similar to what we did with Brock in the past. He can sling it with a lot of zip and what I see he can run fast. Jerry is another weapon in our arsenal, use him and it will give opponent's DC more to prepare for.

Bend and not break, nice stop. Offense lets take this drive and end their delusions of a comeback. TV says 3 guys are coming up with game plan for UNI. It shows for UNI’s offense. They have some weapons, but no identity.

As I said medium and shallow routes we are looking fairly solid we did throw deep for potential one hung up too long and Safety disrupted Bo’s 50/50, the other 50/50 deep was a wobbler and under thrown. TV said UNI were lean on D-line and it is showing. I do like how we are running some jet sweeps. Defense needs to show more in the 2nd half. Make them earn their yards.

Worst I have seen them since we joined the Valley. If I would guess the worst ever for their current coach.

Those deep balls are rough today, Romfo, except for the lead to kill a WR, has been better on medium and short routes.

I do remember a time when the D never gave up big plays, I think in the last 3 years it seems we give one or multiple nearly every game.

I would agree. Watched JMU earlier this week. They ran a 3-4. Two DL, one the NG and one DE (my guess strong side or if need to go buckle interior line) were over 300lbs and I believe the one bigger DE had some height. I did not look up roster to see how many DL were over 300 or near. Yes we need edge rushers but we also need DL/NG (some with beef) that cannot get single blocked. String DL play makes LB and other positions in less of a bind. I would add, hopefully our new strength coach can help with this, though not enough time for this season, but hopefully next season.

Should be able to get through this week healthy.
