We look similar to last year against them. We look smaller on defensive front and their O-line is big and athletic. They go double tight or big we are way undersized. Watched a little of USD and NDSU and USD has the defensive bigs to cause trouble. Hopefully defensive leverage gets better or it can be the ugly to Medusa quick.

As some has said it it’s culture etc., Going into these games (and title contenders) fans and team do need to expect to win the games. I’m fairly old but I remember NDSU would have wider margins if victory than UND. But, UND played tough and won a fair amount. Is it a big game (every game played is a Big Game) yes, but if you play an opponent you think you’re out matched than players play like they need to do more than they can physically or skill wise do. We as fans wish we know a fix, just as I am certain the coaching staff does. Hopefully the week off gets the team in the right mindset and play a solid 4 quarters which it takes to win against a good/great team. Good teams and play like poorly for most of a game and turn it on to beat inferior teams. Great teams can play solidly for nearly all 4 quarters. That is probably why this loss stings for many of us, it’s not that we lost but how we lost.

Forgot that, hopefully experience will slow the game down for him. Overall I do like this o-line

As an O-line guy. Our snaps to the QB needs to get better. (No clue if nerves or what but way more inconsistent this game than other two) Don’t matter who our QB is (never played QB) it’s tough to make your progression or throw a timing route when snaps are low and then high. Even Feeney had a crappy snaps. We had this issue with this till Peyton stepped in. This is a must fix, don’t mater qb or scheme if it is In consistent. This loss sucks, because if we were tied at 14 (missed exp hurt) before half we would have momentum and with a lead can run the ball and utilize our misdirection and play action which appears to be our strength.

We have to score, if we are as good as I think this team can be. We can make a game of this. We have the offense to do it. Defense has shown to me we are better than last. The drop picks is frustrating but I don’t recall last year we had games where we had we had multiple chances for picks.

I doubt they want to need to get more depth. They barely beat Williston and Williston has not won against a current AAA team in several years (last time they beat a current AAA team, it was Legacy in 2015 when Legacy had no Seniors because 1st varsity season)

This will see where our defense really is at with the D-Line and linebackers when it comes to pass rush. It’s tough on the secondary when qb has time and easy pass windows to throw in. If our defense is similar to last year it probably will be a two score win or even a nail biter.

I like that even with backups we are attacking!
-
A lot better energy by offense, low snaps need to be corrected. Let’s keep momentum going and get more guys in.
-
And that fade!

Montana beating Butler 35-20 late 4th. We had chances for big plays, missed FG is concern.

I also agree, this season can be the start of us moving to the top tier of the league especially with the quality of recruits we have been getting the last couple of years.

His perseverance; his love for life. Greg will be missed. https://allmarineradio.com/2020/09/14/greg-loytsz-the-jets-former-offensive-lineman-father-husband-talks-life-his-groundbreaking-workers-comp-case-suicide/

UND was not ranked last year and it took us forever to get in. Doesn’t ranking help with playoff selection? However, we need to prove we can consistently be a playoff caliber team.

No love from the way too early football bracket. https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2023-08-02/way-too-early-2023-fcs-playoff-bracket-preseason-predictions?fbclid=IwAR1YkJUwIXEt1ydeOUQbFMeWwWWD27qPe8StDfvLJsrXQCqNrYc8zoeYdtE

Watching replay 78 Raider-Viking game. TE reverse pass with Casper….maybe we will see something similar with Quincy?

Mama, Mary was a putrid running double slot veer, Mary went to a passing attack. 1st two years were gross for him but he did not have the players for his system. His last two they were competitive went from a 70 something loss to Mankato to a last play defeat this year. He won in High School, College and did wonders at Bemidji prior to Mary. He had a lot less to work with then most D2 schools. I could be wrong but he turned down a Montana State O-Coordinator to be a head coach. (which surprised me) I am not saying he is the best coach of all time. I’m saying as an assistant he would a good/tolerable get. Some coaches are better assistants coaches then head coach.
-
Bagnell would be a good get if it is for running back coach. He has been a winner all his life and considering how crappy Mary was prior to his hire and how competitive they were the last two years.

Translation: If a women’s team plays defense like any other men’s team they (women’s team) will be called for more fouls.
-
Or keep them honest haha, seriously NDSU struggles the most where they cannot get the run game going. Also every quarterback they (NDSU) starts is a dual threat and against the good teams the qb runs are called more.
-
Old school football, why pass when you can run.
-
Besides it is difficult for a team to beat a team twice. NDSU peed down their leg and made some crappy play calls last time. I don’t see that happening this time. SU should win by two scores. If Mt State wins they will not stand up to the physicality of SU’s run game.
-
Winning is a habit and great players make plays when they need to.
-
To be honest if we would have beaten Western Illinois and not played Northern Iowa (if UNI still 6-5). I could see them getting the 3rd spot for the Valley and we be slighted.

Preferably not the Safety Dance…
