Yes, most faculty are gone for the summer...(not me). A petition in the fall would give us time to plan. A petition of tribal members would be the best obviously, seems like it would be harder to facilitate. Any positive support for the name in the national media would be great. If not a petition, make sure you wear your Sioux gear proud, get bumper stickers and window decals for your vehicle.

We should get one started. It could be passed around to UND faculty, students and alumni. Lets get this going. Can anyone out there start it, preferably someone with knowledge of how to do these things? PCM? Someone? The media reported a lot about the faculty members against the name, how about those for it?

They are usually pretty accurate the day before or the day of the event in question. Damn I'm glad to be a UND grad so I can come up with answers to tough situations like this one.

According to the UND press release, support is from BOTH North Dakota based Sioux tribes, Standing Rock and Spirit Lake.

Count me in as an alumnus who would request that. I haven't liked Phil for quite awhile now, if you can't make it back to your state in almost 20 years, it isn't even your state anymore. He is just another "celeb" getting media exposure for political views, it is the hip thing to do nowadays. Phil, say hi to Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins for me.

It is great to see UND and the Standing Rock Tribal council working together on this issue. Instead of giving in to the PC movement, UND took another approach and actually worked with the tribes and came to an agreement. This agreement and the continuing dialogue with the tribes is much more meaningful and will accomplish more than dropping the Sioux name. It is a good day.

The problem with seats is that the whole row shares a bench for a seat with individual seatbacks. You would have to saw into the bench part to get an individual seat or a few seats together. You can see what I mean on the right side of the picture. It could be done somehow, those would be sweet to have in the basement or gameroom next to all the other Sioux gear.

It would be really nice if they opened it up so people could "say goodbye".

They better find a location that works. You can't make everyone happy, the financial impact of this lab would be huge!

300 jobs would be great, hope the plan is accepted by the locals.

Maybe if you guys were more worried about the sue winning than the Gophers losing you would be involved in the WCHA's 5 year dominance of the national tournament.
