I was at that game! Easily my favorite Sioux sports memory. When Luke broke that first tackle, I went absolutely ballistic and I am pretty sure I jumped on the foot of guy next to me about 50 times. Good stuff. After the touchdown, somehow Al Pearson was able to get on the field--before the game ended--and stood on the players bench waving these little American flags we were given (it was just a couple months after 9/11). Even though the run was called back for holding, how about that tackle Peterka made on the kickoff return? I get goosebumps typing about it.

Most excellent. I knew there was a reason I hadn't cancelled my "extra" channels.

I'm fairly sure the SBoHE rotates its meetings throughout the NDUS campuses. The meeting site was likely planned well before this issue was added to the agenda. The fact that the meeting was on the other side of the state, two days before the end of the semester was just gravy.

On Saturday night I saw a sign that said: "Beware the Eids of March" I like it.

Would UMD be impacted? They are not in the MnSCU system. I couldn't tell from the article (or the news story this morning) if they were talking about UMn Twin Cities or the entire UM system.

I try to avoid posting on this topic, but I had to say something here. How does not allowing people voice their opinion (by refusing a referendum) equal sticking up for basic rights? It is just my opinion, but I believe that freedom of speech is a pretty important basic right, and His Horse is Thunder is denying this right to the people of Standing Rock. I think referendums can go a long way in the nickname debate. A lot of this "well I heard that..." and "the people that I know on the rez say..." will be either supported or eliminated by actual votes. If the general population of the reservations support the nickname, it will be known. If the general population of the reservations don't support the nickname, it will be known. My 2 cents. Well, maybe 3 cents.

So, Cornell and Maine are in it every year, plus two others...

I was running late to the USD game and on the radio pregame interview Roebuck mentioned moving LaFrance back to point. She had played it in high school, but was being used as a small forward here at UND.

This was the first game I was able to attend this season. The crowd was good, although I was hoping for a full house with the NCAA challenge. Obviously the win was good to see, but I thought the officiating was horrible. Horrible. South Dakota worked very hard to prevent Kimbrough from too many touches, but when she was able to get a pass she cashed in. It was still a good game after a slow start from the Sioux. It looks like the rematch next weekend will be televised on Midco channel 23 for those of us in Grand Forks.

...who is also opposed to the nickname (or was a couple years ago).

I'd go for that...divide the building in half and one part is Chipotle the other Noodles & Co.

What an amazing weekend. One of my favorite moments of the night: The big screen shows Kangas with a little thought bubble above him that says "I wish I played for the Sioux" and the student section chants: "We don't want him" clap, clap, clap-clap-clap. Good stuff.

Vande Velde on Friday, and IF I MAKE IT, Trupp on Saturday. Thank you for this fun game.

Last year I had a blast at the Mankato series. But, since it is Homecoming here, I will not be making the trek to Mankato. Cheer loud and have a beer at Blue Bricks for me! I am thinking about going to the St Cloud series though...

So, on the subject of details on jerseys, I just noticed that there is the word "Sioux" on the ND on the shoulder of Dunc's jersey. Is that new, or have I just been oblivious until now?

The NCAA will intervene, but only if Sombrero-wearing Spartans are offended.

I am looking forward to hitting up a couple games this season.

Thanks.

I don't a fan can ever be satisfied with a loss, but this one doesn't sting as bad as I thought it would at halftime. The team roared back, and came very close to a tie game. I like that they never gave up. Nice work, Sioux.

I agree Coach Mussman, "this was a hell of a ball game".
