  1. Mazocco likes to say the whole name "Ratislov Spirko", while Doug takes the easy route and just says, "Spirkov". Suprisingly, sounds like Wisco are the new poster boys for Wooger's, "they lack an offensive defensemen" rants, a position the Sioux have owned in Wooger's mind for several years.
  2. Seems that the WCHA stripes crew is aware of his antics, will no longer give him the calls he trys to get, and even puts him in the box. Nonetheless, he continues to dive right to the end. With his skills, if he put as much energy into playing the game as he does into diving, Wisco would be a better team. Eaves should probably have kicked his arse and straightened him out long ago. Will be interesting to see if the diving continues this afternoon, although I doubt he could change this late in his career.
  3. Bad late penalty by Smaby, an unnecessary knockdown. Anderson has the whistle warmed up, got to be disciplined in the third.
  4. Definitely more speed and skill in green, but can't give up the odd man rush, Wisco scored on their only one, first goal a nasty deflection double direction switch. Ugly one, Sioux need one as ugly. Elliot looks a bit porous, giving room on the short side on both Sioux goals. Keep 'em comin'.
  5. It may have still been the Winter Sports Building, I don't remember when the name was changed. I've made the same naming mistake in the past. Was a fun, although disappointing, FF without the Sioux in it. Partied at Frenchy's where red kind of took over for the weekend. Really looked forward to one more Wisco/Sioux matchup in the championship. Never had a doubt the two would have been there had the Sioux not been passed over. Those early Gino years were when the first conspiracy theories were developed. I remember the Sioux getting sent east in the early 80's to face the #1 team in the country, RPI, and the east's only hope. Seemed like the committee wanted to oust the Sioux from the tourney by any means possible. Of course, the Sioux promptly kicked RPI's collective arses from the tourney, bringing about loud wailing from the east, concerning the clutch and grab tactics of Gino's Sioux. Which brought about the smoke-filled room in '83, when the committed found the ultimate way to get rid of the Sioux, which was, leave them out of the tourney.
  6. Yes, PWR may not be the best, but the selection committee totally screwed up that year. Although Wisco being picked was not bad, since they beat the Sioux in the post season 2 game total goal series (tie the first night, Wisco in OT the second night), the UMD selection over the Sioux was totally ridiculous. With the Sioux out, Wisco had no competition to get the championship easily. Gophs did their typical choke, common in those years, by losing to Harvard in the semis, and Providence in the third place game. The old Ralph was devoid of Gopher jerseys for the third place game, as all fans apparently went home. Interesting, that second Sioux/Wisco game in the WCHA playoffs had Wisco score an OT goal, the goal scorer's stick was measured, and found illegal, and Wisco scored again short handed on the ensuing Sioux PP. I'd immediately left the lounge in Oakes (where I'd driven from SD to watch the game) after the first goal, and didn't know until days later that the game had gone on with the Sioux PP.
  7. Did you forget where you're at? It's "sudo"
  8. Funny that the UMD site says "has been named" yet there is no info anywhere (including on the WCHA site) on the teams that are to be named today. Maybe the F's are Raymond, Oshie, and Toews and Kessel has been snubbed (*ducks and runs for cover*)
  9. That's the time and place according to the ncaa site
  10. With that start, luckily you stopped at just "a couple things".
  11. I agree. Many of them should be locked up.

    Is that you, Wooger?
  17. I don't believe there is a "rule" for the "home" team in a regional to get the night game semifinal. It would seem, common sense-wise, that the 1 seed would get the first game, to potentially, if they win the game, get a couple hours more rest before the final game the next night.
  18. Greene back in the Oilers lineup tonight; Jones back in the Phoenix lineup also.
