  1. I wish the UND players and staff well as they move forward with their endeavors on the field and off.
  2. UND and the UND Alumni Association and Foundation launched a new #WingsUp crowdfunding campaign - learn more here: http://act.undalumni.org/undathletics
  3. About six years ago we changed the TV money at Montana’s request,” Fullerton said. “We used to have a much more socialistic approach and used to spread the money throughout the league to help make the teams stronger.” Montana, which has had all of its games televised for several years, fought to keep more of the money and succeeded, Fullerton said.
  4. The No. 2 ranked University of Minnesota volleyball team came back from a 2-0 deficit and trailed 23-20 in the third set to come back and defeat No. 1 Nebraska in five sets Wednesday night, 21-25, 22-25, 28-26, 25-17, 17-15. The win was in front of a sellout crowd of 5401 at the Sports Pavilion. Minnesota improves to 24-4 overall, 16-3 in the Big Ten, and remains undefeated at home.
  5. “There are some individuals who believe that there is something that’s going to happen at their university that is so spectacular at the next level that everyone is going to think so much more highly of them,” Fullerton said. “Quite frankly, if you look around over the last 10 years, there’s only been one school that has made the move successfully and made it consistently. That school is Boise State. “And if you really looked at it, Boise State only made it in one sport.”

  9. Newspaper account from Chicago Tribune on Yale's touchdown: "on the fourth down Crowley had the honor of coasting high over center like a swimmer sliding down a wave on a surf board for a touchdown". The excerpt regarding Red Jarrett was from Curt Eriksmoen in Bismarck Tribune, November 29, 2014. How do you measure the greatest team? Is it based on championships alone? How about teams that played when there was no playoff system? Is it based on how many players went to play at the pro level? Were the Patriots who were undefeated until the Super Bowl not a great team?
  10. In 1930, great things were expected of Jarrett and the UND football team, and they both delivered. Again they finished 9-1, but their one loss turned out to be a highlight for Jarrett. On Nov. 1, UND played the Army team at West Point, and the Army Cadets had not given up a touchdown all season. In attendance for the game was noted sportswriter Herbert Reed, of the New York Evening Journal, who annually selected an All-American football team. During that game, Jarrett scored a touchdown by running for 32 yards and eluding tacklers. In his sports column, Reed wrote, “He is, in my opinion the greatest back of the year.” Excerpt from Bismarck Tribune Nov. 29, 2014. Army was ranked #9 in the Dickinson rankings.
  11. Looks like when NDSU has won the Summit, they have played Gophers in first game.
  12. If South Dakota wins Summit this afternoon would probably be placed in Nebraska and UND at Minnesota.

  14. The best part is the championship will be won on the field.
  15. Nov. 21, 1936 UND beat #12 University of Detroit 14-13 in Detroit.
  16. Another game of historical significance in UND history: Oct. 30, 1937 The first Nickel Trophy game UND 27-0.
  17. Minnesota plays Nebraska-Wednesday, Wisconsin-Saturday at the Pavilion (old Mariucci). Minnesota is noted for one of the best atmospheres in volleyball with 4,000 to 5,000 in attendance for the better teams.
  18. Upper Iowa adding women's lax 2018-2019. Just a tidbit. Not meant to restart a whole discussion on athletic program. Mods can delete.
  19. I do not know if people have seen Pres. Kennedy's interview on Prairie Pulse. The impression I got is that he felt the institution lost focus during the nickname debate due to the time and effort spent on the situation. Maybe the look at athletics was a move to get that behind him, so that he can focus what he believes are to be the main priorities of the university going forward.
  20. It will be a nice rink for the Minotauros, ACHA Beavers, and high school teams. If you where in a east coast bus league, it may suffice for a while. Lack of general seating, premium seating, and concessions probably would not allow it to be sufficient in a western D1 league.
  21. No web cast, internet radio link http://www.700espn.com/
  22. ACHA: Iowa St. vs Minot St. on BEK Broadcasting network, if curious about rink and such.
  23. With the University of Montana currently conducting a study on the financial feasibility of a move to the FBS, UM athletic director Jim O’Day has been questioned throughout the past two weeks on whether his school would be interested in joining the WAC. O’Day told the Sporting News that an immediate decision is “practically impossible” and that “politics within the state of Montana could force the WAC to take Montana State, too.” Fields didn’t speculate on the state’s politics. Fields was AD @ Montana State at the time of the article (April 24, 2010)
  24. I am not arguing for one conference or the other. I am saying Montana's primary concern is not how UND is affected by decisions they make.
  25. The post was not about Montana moving to the MWC. Let me try this another way. U Jamestown and VCSU have been tied together for a number of years. The Jimmies have decided to move to GPAC because the administration felt it was best for their institution. U Montana/MSU are probably going to do what they think is best for their institutions despite whatever bonds that they have with other universities real or perceived.
