  1. I hope this ends up being a unifying moment for the fanbase and that everyone gets behind Jackson. The more people that realize when this is announced that it wasn't a situation where a name appeared and stuck out over a list of high caliber candidates. By all accounts it's Jackson that is stepping up and taking a job nobody else wants. Us vs the world type of mentality. Let's go Jax, bring this program back to the top!
  2. Who would have thought the open FB Job would be 100X more coveted than the hockey opening. There’s so little interest I hope Jax doesn’t start second guessing this.
  3. Stay hot Chavez! Making the best of the situation. Can’t blame him that nobody wants the job. What do you think the $ amount would have to be for a guy like Barr or Raboin to even entertain taking this job? 2X the current highest college hockey salary? So like 4X what they are making now.
  4. Mods, can we lock this one up and delete it? It’s time for damage control and spin. I heard the reason nobody was interested in this job was because nobodies resume could match Jax. Didn’t want to waste their time. Was always #1 on my wishlist! Jackson > Barr > Raboin We got our guy!
  5. It’s Wednesday morning. Chavez is currently looking at the one resume he’s received on his desk. Going to spend this day instead of preparing for interviews, working on how to spin this disaster. I for one want to thank Jackson for applying. How embarrassing would it be if not a single coach wanted the job?
  6. Yep. How embarrassing.
  7. Does anyone know if Chaves is actually interviewing anyone else? Wild.
  8. If this is true, I would do a 180 so fast. If she’s donating large $ for NIL and wants Jax, let’s party.
  9. If it ends up being Jackson, the major frustration will be that this process seemed like a complete joke. Rumors started Monday that he was the frontrunner and haven’t stopped. If you read between the lines, Schlossman has been hinting for days it’s him. I would feel way better if after days and days of interviews and narrowing down the scope, Jackson was the guy. No issues. Either nobody applied or Chaves mailed it in. Crazy that apparently nobody could go head to head with Dane Jackson and his incredibly accomplished head coaching resume.
  10. Timeline. We know they opened it up nationally and that it closes tomorrow at 11:55 pm. Can interviews start before the job posting closes per University guidelines? Has anyone actually interviewed? Do you need three finalists? It’s not adding up to me how Jackson has this locked up. You’re telling me Chaves said thanks but no thanks to Blashill and his resume? I find it so hard to believe that this job wouldn’t be appealing to some very worthy candidates. Jackson and his resume is so far better than everyone else’s and he interviewed so well (at the minimum I hope he would have to explain how opposite he is of Berry) that he had this locked up as soon as Hak said no? Not buying it.
  11. Wait, did Chavez just do this exact same thing in Women’s basketball? Oh boy.
  12. I'll have to see it to believe it. Hiring the assistant coach from the coach you just fired is a bridge too far for me to really believe. Chavez has us rattled today, but he'll come through in the end. No way it'll end up being Jackson!
  13. Disagree. Who knows how it will work out and Jackson could end up being the right call, but if the two options were Jackson or anybody else. I'm guessing the fan base would prefer anybody else.
  14. From a timeline, no news is good news for those hoping it won't be Jackson. Prediction. Thursday: Jackson, Friday / Saturday: Someone else
  15. At 3:30pm on Tuesday, March 25, I do absolutely believe what @RhettRingers and that Jackson is the frontrunner. Let's see in 24 hours. Although I'm mentally preparing for it, there's also not one logical reason why it would end up being Jackson. Not saying he'll do a bad job, but that would be an all-time failure from the AD. He would have always been a finalist, based on open records, but I would never have thought he would have been on paper a top 5 candidate. What a sad candidate pool that must have been.
  16. The divided locker room was on Berry and the Senior class? How he handled the 27 situation? If you put it this way, I'm fairly optimistic. You get rid of Berry + the all-time worst Senior class. Bright days ahead for the program!
  17. Which would mean he would have had to have a lot of success here. I know it's pretty foreign at UND, but I'm very pro coaches having so much success that they leave. If it's to MN then so be it.
  18. At least we had some fun this morning. Fully setting myself up for it to be Dane. Schlossman set the table. How incredibly disappointing. Hope for the best I guess. To be fair, can't be worse than Berry, so we do have that going for us.
  19. Let's dig into this. Do you agree that everything that Schlossman has put out has pointed to Dane? The most obvious reason would seem to be what you thought. Laying the tracks for the uproar. He would be doing the athletic department a favor. Everyone will hate this hire but look here. We also know how distraught he was with the Berry news and how he acted after women's hockey got cut. He can hold a grudge. Why would he do the AD a favor? What if it's not Dane? Which I don't think it will be. That type of article, or his write up on Jackson would be sort of bizarre. He's essentially endorsing his candidate.
  20. Here was his write up. Nobody looked better than Jackson. UND has only hired one coach since 1957 who was not previously a UND assistant coach. That was Rube Bjorkman and it did not turn out well. Bjorkman is the only UND coach to finish with a losing record. If UND goes with an internal candidate, associate head coach Dane Jackson is likely the guy. He's been with the program for 19 seasons — and those 19 seasons have been pretty good. Jackson has been offered at least three assistant coaching jobs in the NHL and at least one head coaching job in the AHL, but he's remained in Grand Forks. Jackson, 54, has long seemed like the heir apparent to Berry. He will likely be the most popular choice among alums.
  21. Gino was an incredibly unpopular hire, because he was the assistant coach to Bjorkman who was being replaced after a bad stretch. Turned out to be one of the best hires. One of two things. It'll either be Dane and Brad is doing the AD a solid or Schloss wants it to be Dane and is doing it in a not-so-subtle way.
  22. If not, he seems to be not so subtilty showing who he wants to be the next coach. I hope it's my theory and not yours.
  23. @SpudsSioux there's only one person who is confused. He got educated quickly though. Excited about this united front for what undoubtably is the clear cut #1 target. Make it happen Chavez!
  24. All jokes aside. Hypothetically if private planes are used to fly around candidates for this position I would have always assumed it would be friends of the program. Never thought UND would foot the bill for that.
