  1. Well yeah but are you taking into account the injury situation (Kaleb Johnson out for the year for example!) and no puck luck again this year? Keep the faith, Berry's long run of bad luck is over after this year!
  2. Wrong! They’d have to get so unlucky to lose this series. Just listened to the UND pod. Last Saturday was confirmed classic case of no puck luck. Won’t happen again.
  3. It's really hard to go full Bubba. Losing home ice last Saturday / getting bounced this weekend would be doing it. Have a hard time imagining UND losing this series. UND sweeps.
  4. If Berry is still coaching, not having this year's Seniors class will absolutely do wonders for him next year. Not sure if there has ever been a bigger addition by subtraction from a group before.
  5. I like it. Not ideal, clearly, but as long as Berry is coaching, I hope everyone embraces being the loveable losers. I know I have. Remember when they printed over 10K towels to lay on the seats for the 1st round? Very funny! In all seriousness, Berry's bad luck will turn around! % chance isn't zero either that they win a NCAA playoff game again at some point! Not this year, but maybe next!
  6. On the UND pod two weeks ago (prior to this announcement), Schlossman talked opting in / out for a few minutes. Gave some really good insight. Key takeaways I recall were he felt the main reason UND was going to opt out, is because the settlement wouldn't be completed by April 1st, Chaves wouldn't know what they are opting into. He also thought that UND would almost assuredly opt in year 2. Also mentioned that Chaves felt eventually all schools would have to opt in. Want to pair that with an article @cberkas shared in another topic about MW / PAC and setting the bar at 10 million over 3 years. I didn't realize that Alston counts towards that #, I'm guessing FCOA does as well. What # would UND be at currently? Does anyone else get the feeling that UND might end up opting in? I'm struggling to really see a downside. Roster cuts of course will be tough / messy, but being able to increase scholarships seems like in the long run a better outcome. Rosters would be overall easier to manage knowing you have a cap.
  7. You answered my question. Can you give me your ideal off-season, if you were the GM. Who would you push to the portal vs keep?
  8. My last post for the week on this topic. Feeling confident that if they lose this weekend Berry will not be coaching at UND next year. IMO makes by far the most sense.
  9. Added an important addition.
  10. That certainly is one way to look at it. I see you subscribe to the Schlossman school of journalism. Nothing you wrote is a lie. Some would argue you’re only telling half the story. Regardless, time will tell.
  11. I really do think things are still TBD. I would say if they don't make it out of Omaha, there's a higher % chance he's not back next year over he is. Or if they lose in 1st game of the Frozen Faceoff. There's a third option, you didn't mention and that's Berry essentially stepping down and pursuing another avenue (Asst in NHL / AHL, scouting). That would absolutely make the most sense to me. His legacy would stay intact.
  12. Found a team that is even more unlucky than UND! Miami have any injuries this year?
  13. My post is what I think will happen, not what I want to happen. If I’m Chaves, I would clearly communicate now (before the end of the season) that the university will be going a new direction following next year, regardless of results, unless $ can be secured for a buyout. Quietly fundraise. The two options are known by Berry.
  14. We’re a week or two from absolutes. • No home ice • Make the Frozen Faceoff? • Make the NCAA tournament • Win a tournament game • Make Frozen Four • Win National title Again, bringing up Bubba. The question I have is once you have a large enough body of work, does your coaching tenure ultimately come down to one game? IF the Football team beat Illinois State & finished 6-6, would Bubba still be coaching? IMO, not getting home ice is a big deal. I’m a believer that it’ll come down to a game. If they don’t make it to St. Paul or if they do and lose the first night. Berry won’t be coaching at UND next year. If they make it to the Championship and lose, I think he’s back, no extension. If they make a run and make NCAAs, extension.
  15. Let’s not bring up Jackson again. That would be as insane as extending Berry. We could be one week away from a hard reset this program so desperately needs.

  17. Berry's roster decisions make no sense for both the short and long term. Year after year. It's incredibly frustrating.
  18. Thanks for the reminder. That might have been the unluckiest team of all-time. Watching Senden, Hain, Ness and Albrecht fly around, the super sophomore class with Schmaltz and Kunz, cannot believe they didn't raise #9 that year with all that fire power. What could have been with a little luck.
  19. Well, this is a bit embarrassing. Off the top of my head, I can't remember. They didn't make the NCAAs, which would have been caused by some sort of bad luck. Ran into hot goaltending all year? Anyone remember the narrative Berry pushed on Schlossman two years ago? All I know is Berry is due for some good luck!
  20. I guess, but why not extend? This run of bad luck has to end sometime! Remember two years ago? Also, incredibly bad luck.
  21. I feel a bit better that the excuse for not making the NCAAs for the 2024/25 season can shift to injuries. Never felt right blaming it on a young d-core.

    2026 Recruiting

Found this interesting. Some schools with offers that overlap with the players listed. NDSU 15, SDSU 7, Montana 5, Montana State 3, USD 1 The USD with 1 really stuck out. Also, with the 15 same offers with NDSU, UND offered first 8 times vs 7. Even balance, not like one team is offering and then the other team is shortly following up with an offer.

  24. Same. Toss out a few clues @RhettRingers, age? Are we talking an elite school caliber?
