Few interesting notes. Turner had just committed out of the portal to West Virginia this Fall (technically 01/05/2025). Picked WVU over Costal Carolina, UTEP, YSU, ETSU. VanWetzinga was an early enrollee at Iowa. He'd be part of the 2025 class.

Current offers with competing D1 offers. Joey VanWetzinga (Iowa) - DT: UND, CMU Henry Amposta (Saddleback College) - LB: UND Aleki Manutai (Saddleback College) - DT: Sacred Heart, Campbell, Sac State, UND, NM State Steven Mahar (Syracuse) - TE: Southern Miss, UND, EKU, Albany, Mercyhurst Peyton Wing (Portland State) - LB: Montana, UND, Kent State Jason Thome (Colorado Mesa) - Safety: UND, Robert Morris, Campbell, Indiana State, Idaho State, Louisiana Tech LJ Turner (West Virginia) - RB: UND Kai Rios (Indiana State) - TE: UND, Kent State Darrion Dalton (SDSU) - DT: UTEP, UND, NDSU, UNT, Texas State

Excited about the Dalton offer. IMO, seems like a guy that could start Day 1. Instantly jumped to #1 on my transfer portal wish list. What a get this would be.

Only a 10-day window, but we are now over half done. Players around the country are still entering. Currently UND is sitting at 3. Is this a good sign? Stating the obvious, but you cannot lose key players during this Spring process, it puts you in a bad spot. There have been some position movements from what was reported on the Spring roster originally (ex: Rucker - edge, Bell - D-Line). Clearly still spots of need (D-Line, LB, DB, TE, RB) that they are looking at, but not a lot of offers currently. Has anyone heard if the coaching staff is feeling better than originally thought with the Spring roster?
-
On X when you click on a player's profile, it tells you how many people who you also follow, follow this person. It could be UND coaches, media, fan accounts, other players that have been offered. I do think there's a correlation with the large the #, the more interest. On the flip side, there are guys who have been offered that have a very low number. I think you could effectively cross those guys off as viable targets. Also, if there's a commitment, look for a spike and that's the guy. Here's the current Top 11. Kobe Russell Godson Rufus-Okomhanru Braylon Hodge Blake Buhr Ethan Headings Jayden Brown Michael Farr Brayden Dozier Deron Russell Tyler Zdon Isaiah Oliver

The next 24 hours would seem to be when we'll see a lot of action. Logically, if a player wants to leave, I think they would have done it already. For players that would fall into the roster management portal exits, it also doesn't make sense for either party to wait any longer. *I know full well, there will be impactful players that will still be entering (hopefully not at UND, but in general), just doesn't make sense why they would wait.

Schmidt did not tweet that one out prior, so had nothing to compare the delay to.
-
Here's the lag time between when Schmidt has posted vs player posting. It definitely varies. I wouldn't think anything of the delay normally, still don't, but given the impact of this one, I do understand being more impatient than you normally would. I would still think we'd hear something today. Player we are waiting on: 1.5 days Goihl: Less than an hour Woods: Day Stein: Few hours Rohl: 3 Days Hendrickson: --

Has the 1883 x Jackson set up any type of meet and greet type of fundraiser? The real difference makers, you're going to have to seek out. I am so disappointed, not in the 1883 guys, but in the coaching staff. Up to this point, a complete lack of effort. The NDSU coaching staff is active in their collective. You need to have meet ups. Fundraisers. Nobody is going to the website and donate 250k or more. I do get tired of reading how UND has no $ to compete. Complete lack of effort. Need Jackson to step up. *Clearly, it's still early in the Jackson era, but you'd think this would be a top priority* Note: The 1883 collective sent out a note a few days ago asking for help on the Women's side (especially W-Bball). This was the first time they sent out a note like that. Never been a mass communication on their end either that they need more $ to compete in the hockey world. -
In this day and age, the official announcement from the player depends on how long the commitment graphic takes. Usually a day or two delay from when the coaching staff tweets about it.
-
I don't know what's going on here. Look at the Reposted by for the biggest clue.
-
No, he committed last night. Not sure how you read it any other way.
-
Funny you brought up Buhr as well. I think I've found a "tell" on social media. Only two current offers that are uncommitted have it. Wunderlich and Buhr. We're ready to cross Wunderlich off the uncommitted column. Is Buhr next?
-
Reposting this in what we believe is the right thread. If this is who we think it is (99% sure). Big deal.
-
Based on some social media tells, this is the heavy, heavy favorite. Would be, I mean all sign are pointing towards it, a massive commit. Imo, would have ranked him as my #1 in my hope they commit wishlist.
-
If you're the GM, what's the ideal # of players UND would have enter the Spring portal? Clearly, cannot lose any starters or ideally, anyone on the two-deep. Are we thinking the lower the better? 5 to 7 range seems ideal to me. That mixed with some of the guys that left the program prior to spring ball (ex: Teiken), gives you 10 spots to add. Looking what's happening to USD, seems like an incredibly pivotal time.

Depends on if they think the #3 and to some extent #4 are legitimate starting caliber. If they do, then scratch RB from my list.
-
- 3 big DL with D1 experience - 1 LB with D1 experience - 1 TE with D1 experience - 1 RB Excited, but sort of nervous for these next few weeks. If this coaching staff nails this again (winning the portal), in today's FCS, they will absolutely be competitive next year. I'm not talking winning a title, but no reason they couldn't be in that 2nd / 3rd tier. Competitive playoff team.

Schlossman gives a very good break down in the most recent podcast of the portal and different avenues UND will be looking to fill out their roster for next year. I get the feeling that Menghini is one that they need to get. -

@scpa0305 my concern with the F group is more around portal adds and balancing the classes. Is the best bet hoping for the two Duluth F’s and a player that hasn’t entered yet? Other teams need players too. Doesn’t seem like an ideal situation needing multiple players from the current portal group. Especially if a target goes elsewhere. -
I really do like Hedquist. Timing is getting tricky. If Homer's intention is to be here two years, I think it'd be beneficial to all if Hedquist entered and go with Homer / Heil next year.

I like it, let's lock it in. Every off-season I'll be consistent, 15F, 8D, 3G. The 6 guys in bold need to play every day if healthy. If you think they need 9D, then I'd first question if you think Jubenvill is an every dayer as a sophomore. You need that 7th D to be someone who could be an everyday type of guy. 0 worries when there's an injury and he jumps in. Edit: let's lock it in... was thinking more of the Goalie situation. I'd prefer going with Homer / Heil next year unless Homer has indicated he's only planning on one year and then signing. Timing isn't great. IMO, Heil is ready and if not this year, absolutely he'd have to come in after next. Flow better next year and the year after if they went with Homer / Heil.
