The Atlantic has hockey coverage? Or are we talking about The Athletic?

When you gotta go, you gotta go.

After spending decades at DU, Magnus Chrona also on the Barracuda roster. Frisch just can't get away from this guy.

+1000 You could read Hemingway and Dickens for months and not come across a better phrase than this. -
It's like someone at ESPN reads siouxsports.com: Does height still matter for NHL draft prospects?
-
Maybe he’s still got a bit more height left in him?

I may be seeing this incorrectly, but it seems like NIL money is mostly going to come into play when recruiting the top 1% of college-bound players. Blue-chippers, first- and second-round draft picks. Guys for whom a college education is likely NOT going to be valuable at that point in their life.

Woog was the Yogi Berra of college hockey. Those quotes are great. “Took one in the toast!” “Flo is back in the diner…”

IF the NCHC adds ASU, which of the following scenarios do you all think is most likely? 1) Add one, lose zero: Simply add ASU to the existing eight members for a total of nine teams. 2) Add two, lose zero: Add a second team along with ASU (within, say, two years), bringing the total number of teams to ten. 3) Add one, lose one: Drop/lose a current member (likely Miami) when ASU joins keeping the total number of teams at eight. 4) Add two, lose two: Add a second team along with ASU, lose Miami and Western Michigan, keeping the total number of teams at eight.

This is stupendous work, @AJS. BTW, just looked up Hensler's EP page. What stands out? The kid is only 16 but already 6'5". Goodness, how tall is he gonna get? Owen Power is the last super-tall, high-end defenseman that comes to mind. In his age 16 season, Power averaged just under half a point per game in the USHL. This past season, Hensler averaged right around half a point per game for the NTDP team.

Very classy send-off by AV. Well done. -
Rumor has it that the parking lot for the Mav’s arena is being shipped to Madison this summer.

The Talking Heads nailed it: Same as it ever was.

Are NHL teams allowed to not sign a player they drafted (not counting situations where there’s been some sort off-ice scandal)?

I thought he was a disaster defensively. But surely there were times when he looked bad because others weren't in proper position. -
Under Motzko, the Gophers are grittier than they used to be. That being said, Motzko still has to prove that he can win a championship. He’s had immensely talented teams that have spit the bit.

That list might relate to this list: 156, 157, 163, 165, 169, 170. These are listed weights of the six lightest forwards: Owen Mac, Perron, Gaber, Blake, Montgomery, and Ness. I wonder if the coaches think our smaller forwards might need some protection from bigger d-men. -

UND allowed 2.8 goals per game last season, ranking 29th in the nation. And that was with an abysmal Team Save Percentage of .886 (tied with hockey powerhouse LIU!). Assuming a slight improvement in overall save percentage and assuming a slight improvement in overall defensive structure--that's more than a little assuming, I concede, but it's the offseason and hopium is on the menu--I think a top 15 defense is realistic. (At 2.5 goals allowed per game, UND would have been tied for 14th in the nation.) It probably all comes down to the fishbowl though. -

It's as good a theory as I've heard. -
Does anyone have any information on Hobie Hedquist? He hasn't played since April 19 because of an injury (I believe). Penticton is playing Alberni Valley, Hedquist's team, for the BCHL championship and Hedquist isn't even listed on the line chart. (OT: Penticton was 50-3 in the regular season and is 14-1 so far in the playoffs. Surreal numbers.)

The portal closes on Thursday, May 18. The new coaching staff at Mankato will probably throw a party.
