In terms of expectations going into the year and current talent on the team, this is probably his best coaching job. Although, they were really good in one possession/close games this conference season so that really swings things. 23-24 was his best team by far and best overall record, but an early exit in the Summit tourney doesn’t make it his best IMO. I feel like 21-22 (year 3), 22-23 (year 4), and 24-25 (year 6) were all pretty bad years. Crazy that you can still have a job considering that.

This is only the second year Sather will finish with a conference record above .500

I’m excited to see Jerry in Danny’s offense. With Schuster at QB for most of Danny’s time here as OC, the big knock was the inability to throw the ball deep. If he can continue to improve his accuracy, I think Jerry will fit well. I think Deng Deng really needs to break out, because lots of unproven players in that WR room. Danny was also good in the Red Zone at UND, I hope that continues. Let’s also figure something out in short yardage situations as well.

We are in the Valley, it will be fine. Nebraska will be a great test before we get to conference play. We have a Big Sky team on the schedule, just unfortunate they won’t be good.

I like that Nebraska is week #4. A couple of games to get Jerry some confidence back and the defense to get dialed in again.

At some point, the Bismarck guys can’t continue to take up scholarships. Hopefully they prove me wrong but I don’t see either playing any meaningful minutes if they stay. My biggest takeaway from last Saturday is that we weren’t close to matching up to NDSU overall athletically/length wise/strength wise etc… All I’ve wanted for so long is a rim protector, don’t even care how much offense is provided. I think Kraft has improved this year, but I still see him as more of a 15 minutes per night kind of guy at this level. Agreed though, I think there will be some attrition and hopefully they can take a chance on some portal guys.

Eh, I think last year was the ideal schedule. Top tier Big Sky (Montana) and one P4, with two easier games. This year Portland State probably still won’t be good but we still have Nebraska on the schedule. 2027, will have home against Idaho and at Iowa, which is a little more ideal.

The Summit is a good conference for him.

If Uelman, A3, and Guga are back. I’d at least feel ok about next year.
