That was one of the must frustrating things watching the game. Early on Miller had a seem and didn't hit it and only got a couple yards. He can't really break tackles so at his size he would need to be able to make people miss but that didn't happen either. I really don't understand why they don't give some of the other backs a in game opportunity. It's looked to me like Jackson might be the best RB on the team.

The crowd left the game at strange times last night but I will say I think the volume was pretty good during the comeback.

To me the most impressive thing about Zenner is that he doesn't lose yards. He gets hit for what looks to be loss and still ends up getting 2 or 3 yards. I will say his Offensive line deserves a lot of credit and well, they are pretty dang good creating room for him to run.

I am excited and will be driving up with the family for the game. I am also sick of the same people always calling for the coaches job. What coaches do is difficult enough and unless you have been in a situation like it you wouldn't have the first clue. Hell, even from school to school the job can very dramatically. I get that it is a results profession but this job has had far more challenges than most during the transition. UND needs to have a good year but can we at least wait until the season is over before we start trying to fire people. I wonder what it would be like if I just started walking around and demanding that people get fired when I don't like how they work or I get poor service. Maybe we could start by firing message board posters?

I hope I am wrong but I will go with SDSU - 34 UND - 27 Looking at the Jacks board, most apparently think they will handle UND with ease.

Sumner is good, but he certainly isn't near what Sorenson was at SUU. The big difference is that Sumner has a much better running game to go along with his skills.

They have a 6'5" WR that looked pretty good against Butler and a few other that looked pretty good as well. It's hard to know how good and I think Sumner actually didn't have a great game in spite of the passing numbers. He is a good QB and SDSU will likely be run first, but they do have the ability to throw as well.

Pretty sure that what you see on a TV interview isn't what he looks like while actually coaching players.

SDSU was patient with Stig and I am pretty sure they are very happy with how that has turned out. The problem is that everyone wants results today and it rarely works out like that, sometimes you need to have a little patience. UND has come a long way in recruiting talent the last two years and it just happens to go along with getting past the name issue, getting into a conference, and being playoff eligible.

It's a joke because Bohl is a great coach but he isn't very charismatic.

The Jacks do have a pretty solid passing game but watching them play Butler they weren't as clean in the passing game as maybe the stats show. I think they can be a very good throwing team if need be but Sumner had some throws in which the timing was off or the ball was just underthrown. I did think Butler did a very good job of tightening up the run defense after the first drive in which Zenner carries twice for about 80 yards and the TD. Hopefully UND can contain the run and force SDSU to attempt to win the game through the air.

Fire the coach threads are some favorites of both UND hockey and football fans. I find them stupid because they can't do anything but be a negative for the sport and team and I am pretty sure they will not fire a coach based upon all of the experts hiding behind computers.

They also had a LB that made the Bengals roster this year.

I still think we don't know much about K State as a team and the next few weeks will tell about the rest of the season for them. I really doubt they will have another game this year in which the run game is shut down like it was Friday night. I wasn't saying they are a lock to be a top 25 team at years end but I think it likely.

After watching UND Thursday and some other FCS games this weekend I am a little nervous about our line play on both sides of the ball. It might come together still but I didn't see a lot against Valpo to encourage me and some things that make me a little nervous. I think UND has done pretty good at recruiting and developing the other positions but I am not sold with the line play on either side of the ball yet.

I don't think NDSU would do well in the SEC but I don't think they would be in last place at the end of the year. The most impressive thing to me about the K State win is that they controlled the game and for the most part were the more physical team. It wasn't a fluke that they won that game, they deserved and earned that win. Preseason rankings really don't mean a lot but it wouldn't surprise me if K State ends up in the top 25 by the end of the season.

I think it's a pass play to break in the rookie QB.

I think we will be improved overall this year but looking at the roster I expect a bigger jump next season. Having a QB with a year under his belt and it seems the last couple of recruiting classes have been much improved and I think it will show on the field. I still think if the team plays to it's ability and the defense is improved I could see 3-1 after the first 4 games but I could also see 1-3. After all these are some of the elite teams in the nation North Dakota is playing.

Nope, kids in Canada realize the University of Manitoba sucks just as much as we do and it really isn't exposure if nobody watches or cares.

Please explain how beating a bad team from Canada helps hockey recruiting?

Nothing against Mollberg, but I really hope Bartels is great and leaves no doubt as to his ability to be a great QB at UND. I don't mind both playing if the game is out of hand but I would rather not have questions linger about who should be starting going into the SDSU game.

How big is Duluth? I have trouble believing it's over 250,000 people.

What about something relating to the all the fossils found in western ND and eastern Montana? "Battle for the Bones" or something along those lines. I do like the Bakken thing but just wanted to mention another option that might work.
