  1. Good to see the Ralph has hired Icon for a "Long Range Capital Improvement Plan" http://www.iconarchitects.com/projects/athletics/ralph-engelestad.html

  3. The question is why? The betty is going to be a fine basketball arena for UND for a long time (larger bleachers on the ends could boost capacity to about 4,000)....and when UND hosts a larger venued team they can play in the Ralph...or the Alerus for that matter....I watched the Timberwolves play in the Alerus...it was a fine set up for basketball. Playing basketball in the old REA, if you ask me, is not a good long term solution for UND basketball.
  4. The Ralph, Pepsi Center or the Qwest Center, make the most sense if it is not at the Xcel. Those places have the best chance of being successful in the NCHC.
  5. Looks like the Giants not only talk the talk..... One more ring and Eli has as many as tom.
  6. Just like the Top 15 Most Popular Colleges wouldn't mean much until you see the schools that beat UND on the list. Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT. No one can claim UND as a "safety school." Meanwhile it appears the U of Minnesota is. They accepted 17,000 but only 5,000 first year students, a whopping 30%, decided to go there. Compared to UND at over 60%.
  7. #1 students study the least. http://www.huffingto..._n_1092172.html I rarely studied and graduated. Probably goes to show how smart UND students are. FYI these rankings are based on the princeton review.
  8. I have no idea what you are saying. Covered Wagons.... Grasping at straws? I can tell you right now many people have predicted the car will be gone...hasn't happened yet, and in reality I would say that one is probably long overdue, I want my teleportation device or at least my flying car by now! The radio is still around after all these years. The TV, nor the internet, mp3s, cds, or walkmans have killed it. Wanna know why?..."radio" introduces you to the (new) music. And this is the most significant example of the TV being equated to the radio in this situation. Radio has actually gotten "stronger" recently = satellite radio....wanna know what else is getting stronger....TV! High Definition and 3D!!!!! "TV" as we know it might be gone one day, but in like what 50+ years. Not five, not ten, not twenty. You and I will probably be dead. The rest of your rant is a company trying to protect and/or increase their profits using online tools. It helps grow their companies and adds income for them. I get it. Doesn't in any way make them think their TV will be going bye bye....it just means that they have to fight with online companies for advertising dollars...the same as the radio and newspapers had to when TV first became available....The Grand Forks Herald Advertising on the TV is like NBC setting up NBC.com. It advertises their products and helps them generate revenue. You really believe "TV" will be gone? And honestly when do you think that will happen? Secondly, since it is so far down the road....we are talking how in less than two years UND will rarely be seen on national tv at home. A major step backwards for the program. You can watch all UND home games online right now.
  9. Yeah the fans will get mad cause the teams suck.
  10. Exactly. This is why we can get all the webcasts we want and it doesn't matter. TV will always trump the net in terms of "viewership." You ain't really going to get "new fans" using the web. TV ain't going anywhere. How do you know what movies to watch? What "shows" to watch? etc
  11. Why 1970? I, personally, wouldn't put any stock in the 80. Or even much of the 90's as I was a teen....and I am 29 now. I started following the Sioux around 97 (when I was 16)....and from watching the Sioux and Bison personally from then on it seemed UND had a pretty good advantage...I was watching UND host home playoff after home playoff game...I heard NDSU had never hosted one....until now....NDSU is starting to have some good years. I love Sioux hockey and I started watching them in the same time period...talk about spoiled...championship. three years later another championship!....next year runner up....and recently lots of frozen fours, but point being....UND's championships are soon also becoming ancient history...its been over a decade... Not to mention the recruiting advantages of the worlds greatest hockey arena.
  12. And here people think the Alerus is going to look more full by moving the students....not!!! I sit on that side. The current section over from the students. It aint' near full....most games. Students aren't the only ones not showing up.
  13. Five years ago, I had class in which, for some odd reason, was broadcast to NDSU students. They could watch us and we watched them. It was odd. All the students were in class on both sides, but their "teacher" was at UND.
  14. Lets face it, If you live out of the "region" you will have to watch UND hockey home games on the web that are not on CBS Sports. UND can not broadcast games nationally not on CBS. The "wait and see" will be about webcasts. But can we really blame the UND administration? Did they simply get outvoted?
  15. This is getting frustrating. How many different channels am I going to have to have to watch UND sports on TV, even at home? Root, Midco, CBS Sports?
  16. Yet, The University of North Dakota has the most head to head wins in both recent history and all-time. Go figure.
  17. Excuses, excuses, excuses......UND could easily have scheduled home and homes with SDSU, USD, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, NDSU, Illinois St, Indiana St, Western Illinois, NDSU. Once UND stops scheduling non Division I teams, because it caused us to miss the playoffs, will the excuses stay the same?
  18. I just don't see how. UND can no longer broadcast UND hockey games "outside the region" unless its on CBS Sports.
  19. looks like sioux fans better start buying their free to air satellites. one step forward two steps back.
  20. Another Grand Forks city council/Alerus Center committee fail. They had ten years to plan for this. While the guy is hard to hear and understand what he is saying. I thought he made it sound like UND/GF want to amend the contract to make sure they are playing at the Alerus all ten years on the new turf. Unless I misunderstood, I didn't necessarily hear anything about UND not wanting to play at the Alerus Center after the new turf expires.
  21. And when others think of North Dakota they think of hockey.
  22. Mussman and coaches inability to recruit and develop decent quarterbacks these last few years? So they need to go out and get a "quick fix""?
  23. I think it stems from Bradely being a junior college transfer vs a top 20 quarterback out of high school who is now a very mature graduate of an FBS program, albeit as a backup. With that said. I don't get excited about HS recruitment highlight videos. Every candidate looks good in those.
  24. Sex trade slavery? Who are these "other people in this country that would gladly make it legal"? The same ones that would make killing black people legal? I am not sure your point but you are making odd statements! Where did this topic go wrong?
  25. You wanna watch a bad passer...tune into the LSU quarterback right now. haha
