Watch UND press conference. I wouldn't be so quick to hand Mussman the job just yet. From watching/listening to the press conference, I would say Brekke has a very good grasp of what the tradition of UND football means. I would trust that this is not something that will be decided on a whim. Mussman may indeed get the job, but it sounded to me like it is going to be a process that is done the right way, exploring all options. Brekke even indicated that he had received a letter of interest/application from someone on his Blackberry today. Besides, if Mussman becomes a head coach, he will be going to Minnesota State Mankato, according to what Jeremy Jorgensen was saying on 740 the Fan today. Who would want to coach at UND?

I heard the following: Press conference at the Stone Alumni Center tomorrow at 1:00 with Lennon in attendance. There will be a community "thank you"/appreciation reception for Lennon at the REA Traditions area of the lobby later on tomorrow. I then heard Steve Brekke say "I was thinking about this..." Then 740 The Fan lost their feed and apparently didn't feel the need to try to re-connect.

Sorry for the double post. Southern Illinois announcement on webcast: Watch Live Press Conference at 4 p.m. CT

I posted earlier that I think Mussman will be named as "interim", with the assumption that the new AD re-evaluates things after next season. What he has given UND is remarkable, true, but to have had HIM in place through the transition would have been nice. Selfish? Probably.

With or without Buning, we'll likely still see that 20 page thread about "UND ties" being the top criteria. Tank McNamara on KFGO just said that "Lennon is reported to have agreed to a 5 year, $200,000 contract, with incentives at SIU". So, in effect, he doubles his previous salary. My question is: where are all of the football backers that supposedly had the $$ to support a move to D-I? If it was about money with Dale, the boosters should have been able to take care of him, especially when considering you can't pay a D-I coach D-II money, regardless of his 2005 contract.

Serious question here... has the predictability the last few years on offense been because of Mussman's, or Lennon's strategy? As with any other opening lately, does the newcomer have to come with UND ties? This is going to throw a wrench into the AD search. I'm thinking they name Mussman interim, with the assumption that the new AD will evaluate at the end of next season.

I doubt they would want a guy that would have the high hopes of being a career back up/door opener. Especially after the Grieco situation (even the Okposo situation). That should be enough of an incentive to go after the best player available. You never know what (or who) will change the minds of these kids. That's my theory anyway. I would think that the coaching staff hasn't made any promises to Eidsness beyond the fact that he will get his fair shot to play right away. It isn't fair to anyone to make promises of playing time. Maybe it happens, but I doubt it.

... which was my point way back in post #7 of this topic. So which one of you is going to present all of this information to the Sioux coaching staff?
-
In that scenario, VV would be centering the (presumably) 2nd line.

You couldn't have been wrong about Montana State. I'm sure they were recruiting him so Montana didn't get him. Since he's verbally committed to UND, now we can breathe a sigh of relief because NDSU isn't going to get him to go there.
-
If he was signed to play for the Islanders right now, he won't have a World Jr. Tourney to worry about. Just read the Islanders website where it says it is undecided what team he'll join after the World Jr. Tourney.

I wonder if the background of Williams will be part of a future story in the Herald. Here's some more crap from above the fold on the front page of today's Forum: article one & article two. Dalrymple continues to amaze and restate and rehash any story she's ever written about the topic. How many times can the same things be said? We get it, Amy, you don't like the nickname. Seriously, an article about a rumor that anyone sane knew was a rumor makes the front page of the largest paper in the state.

Does NDSU recruit in Texas because they are looking at moving into the Big 12? Or Illinois because they are looking at joining the Big 10? Why do you care?
-
Where has Hoeven's support been, Goon? Or is he off limits because of the -R behind his name?
-
Dane Litke resigns coaching position and is replaced by his assistant. Hope things work out for Litke. There possibly might be a high school team in Bismarck that makes a great improvement on defense over the rest of this season.

Finley also received a penalty for that. Did the Gophers score on the pp?

Could it have been Applebee's? Seemed that there were lots of changes made there.

Watch the video. Can we be the Mohicans?

Sioux are down 3-0 after two periods. Gave up an empty net goal with about 4 minutes left in the 2nd.

Exactly, dagies. Why not just go with "Kelly Green", then?
-
While we're on a horses theme, how about Wyld Stallyns? In all seriousness, Nokota, with an appropriate adjective, could be possible. Still lukewarm, though.
