  1. Uhhh ... wrong direction. That's only for inbound, not outbound.
  2. Congratulations to Monique Lamoureux-Kolls for the "Ulmer" against Canada. What's an "Ulmer"? It's a scoring feat named for Jason Ulmer after a WCHA first-round playoff game on Sunday, March 12, 2000. Jason put up three goals and three assists in a 9-4 UND win over DU.
  3. I'm willing to go on record with an " ... I think soon will show ... " prediction. I think a Tuesday in June will show a lot of North Dakotans are tired of this tragic misadventure and will vote to end it. I wouldn't have said that before Easter weekend and going out and talking to a lot of relatives who love the name but are tired of the (i) distraction and wasted energy, (ii) politicing behind it, and (iii) money spent on it. I suspect there's more "moniker fatigue" out there than we realize.
  4. First, no Fetch, it's not what you can live with. News flash: It's not all about you. The University of North Dakota was here long before you and it'll be here long after you. It's about UND, not you Fetch. Secondly, if it was just "no logo, no name" at tournaments, I'd agree. But it's also no home playoff games, and it's also no games against region institutions that we, The University of North Dakota, want to be the full peers of (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa).
  5. I suspect Danny Kristo is "playing out the clock" until August 1, 2012. The longer we hear nothing from him confirms that to me.
  6. What you describe is now known as a "classical liberal". They had to change the definition in light of how the term "liberal" is used today.
  7. Your lifetime? You? Sorry Dave, this isn't all about you. Let's talk about what we are reallly talking about: The University of North Dakota. It has run with no moniker, with Flickertails, with "NODAKS" on the basketball uniforms, with "Sioux", with "Fighting Sioux", and with more logos than I'll try to recall. The "identity" has changed before, but it also hasn't changed depending on how you look at it, because it has always been The University of North Dakota through all that. So Dave, if this is all about "your lifetime" I guess I'd worry about your feelings being hurt. This is about The University of North Dakota and what decision (ugly as it could come to be) is best for it.
  8. They need to look at how they seed this. PIT and PHI and are getting hosed and NJD gets a big break. I think the seeding should be by points (with division winners only guaranteed a spot in the eight teams, not the top three seeds). I think it should be: NYR, PIT, PHI, BOS, NJD, FLA, WAS, OTT. and VAN, STL, NAS, DET, CHI, PHX, SJS, LAK
  9. I don't know how Tom Ward doesn't have the inside track in Mankato. As far as named for UND if Eades did leave: Brad Berry.
  10. I think Bradley's biggest issue was the change in the size and speed of guys coming at him from HS to JUCO to DI-AA.
  11. Which identity? At one time the MBB jerseys said "NODAKS." At one time the identity was "Flickertails." Which identity?
  12. Would UND go back to a physical speed and skating game instead of the cycle game? Under the current rules speed trumps cycle. BC proves that playing fast and speed wins.
  13. Politics in higher education is supposed to be a no-no as well.
  14. Not a problem ... until Bert Blyleven starts a protest movement.
  15. They opened the tournament playing the Michigan State Spartans. The NCAA doesn't care about caucasian races. Next question.
  16. The rule is "host if earned", no pre-planned host sites, for SC and MS.
  17. Everyone remembers when Dave Hakstol got caught "gesturing" toward an official during a game. It was caught on live television. Well, in reality, he one-upped himself. But few noticed. Deep down inside I still believe the NCAA came after UND as hard as it did just as much for the moniker as for having Ralph Engelstad build such an amazing facility as he did for UND Hockey. (The zealots at the NCAA are human, and very jealous.) Well, Dave complied with the NCAA's "no logo, no moniker" edict, but he also got to give another message to the NCAA by his choice of headgear while at the West Regional. I'm thinking Dave Hakstol "flipped the bird" on television again, not to an official but to the entire NCAA this time, but this time very few recognized and understood his real message. Masterfully played, David. Masterfully played.
  18. Effectively, Dr. Kelley (all NDUS presidents) are "at will" employees of the SBoHE.
  19. If Chicago could trade Kane and a second-pair defenseman for a top pair defenseman and a second-line scorer, I think they'd be wise to do it. They'd gain defense and lose some of Kane's off-ice antics and distractions. It be interesting to see what Chicago and Buffalo (Kane's hometown) could work out for mutual benefit.
  20. Yeah, but he drew iron on a decent shot when the game v. DET was 0-0 last night. Gotta bury 'em when you can.
  21. You apparently didn't see the slash in </moderator's hat on> or you don't understand HTML tags.
  22. Back in this thread someone took a (long angle) photo of the new black jersey. Can someone down in Tampa take a better photo of just the new UND jersey? I'll even offer to get it posted here if you send it to me via email: sicatoka at hotmail dot com <-- I typed that out so email troll-bots don't pick it up, use the @ and . if you send.
  23. <moderator's hat on> It's how the text editor on this site works. I've wondered the same but there's no way to prevent it. </moderator's hat on>
