  1. That I'm sure will not be happening. And few things in life am I sure of, but that is one.
  2. If Saban tipped the hand of what the plan is, I suspect the "second tier" will be highlighted by the MAC, Sunbelt, CAA, Big Sky, and MVFC. We could even see part (bottom half or so) of the Moutain West and C-USA.
  3. I still believe the crest of USS NORTH DAKOTA has UND's next moniker in it: Rough Riders Reapers Nokota
  4. Hurd, we have de facto three tiers today: FBS, FCS (with scholarships) FCS (no scholarships and the schools that don't play for FCS playoffs) What I see under Saban's plan: The top 70 or so (with N > 85 scholarships and mandatory cash stipends to players) The next 70 or so (with something like 75 scholarships, to merge FBS and FCS, and no stipends) The bottom run (no scholarships and the schools that don't play for FCS playoffs)
  5. Well, some of this is playing out officially: Boise State goes from WAC to Big West -- http://voices.idahostatesman.com/2012/08/24/ccripe/boise_state_joins_big_west_most_sports_agrees_25_million_entry_f WAC officially down to four (Idaho, Denver, NMSU, Seattle).
  6. In your opinion, the jersery should be loose, ala the Dorsett image. In the opinion of today's players, and apparel makers, it should be tight and form-fitted. They guys who wear them win the opinion battle.
  7. NCAA != US NAVY I'll side with the Navy. Why? They have tomahawks.
  8. Yup. Didn't see the Nokota horses, the Nokes, until I started reading this: About the USS North Dakota crest
  9. Wow. The symbology was updated quickly: Wikipedia on USS North Dakota
  10. The USS North Dakota now has a coat of arms. If this stays talking about this coat of arms I'll leave this thread open. If it turns to possible new UND monikers I'll close it. Keep the moniker talk in the "New Moniker" thread. Thanks.
  11. Yup. Here's the USS North Dakota's coat of arms. I say UND's new moniker is on here somewhere, either Rough Riders (pistol grips) or Reapers. What say you? PS - Bonus point to anyone who can tell me why one pistol is gold and one is silver. PPS - Who first rolled out the idea of Reapers ...
  12. Back in the days of the "tear-away jersey" I remember that it looked like backs (Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas in particular) had stuff waiving in the wind, trailing behind them. Those jerseys were loose and there was a lot to grab onto in the back of the jersey. But when you grabbed it ... poof! ... tear-away and the back is gone. When the tear-aways were outlawed they went with the same cut for a while. But they changed to a tighter cut in the lower back shortly thereafter. Now why was that? Just coincidence?
  13. Just saw the tweet: Captains and alternates will be announced later today. My predictions: C - MacWilliam (too many will pick Knight) A - Knight A - Rowney and if they go with a third A I'm going darkhorse ... The General. Yeah, I left Kristo out of the mix. Not sure why.
  14. Since this is as likely as anything: The Y Line: Rowney, Pattyn, Chyzyk The Double-Letter Lines: MacMillan, MacMillan, and O'Donnell; Caggliua, Rodwell, Gaarder. (Pattyn is already on the Y Line.) OK, now I'm stretching: Special Ks: Knight, Kristo, and Parks (hey, there's a K in Parks) That leaves Grimaldi, Sanderson, and St. Clair. Not sure what to go with there.
  15. Best ever status would be locked up with that. It'd take something more to hit legend status. But I don't put it past him.
  16. I wish Nick Saban would give me credit next time he uses my ideas. http://www.footballscoop.com/news/7144-saban-wants-only-60-70-teams-at-the-fbs-level#FCS
  17. "This week's tawpic on Quawfee Tawk: The interwebs, although full of nothing but 100% true factual information, are just a passing fad and definitely never to be used for educational purposes. Discuss amongst yourselves."
  18. UND has a math placement test also. I'm going to echo watchmaker's question: How are Tri-College (NDSU, MSU-Moorhead, Concordia) students counted by NDSU?
  19. Given those numbers, why are 13% of NDSU students in remedial (below college level) courses at NDSU but just only 5% at UND*. Something doesn't flow logically there. *per the ND SBoHE last week.
  20. The last official policy statement (a university address) I'd heard was from Kupchella* and his long-range plan to get UND to about 15k enrollment and then focus on raising enrollment standards to be more selective. Kupchella believed that 15k or so was about the limit for the current buildings and infrastructures. *Kudos to that guy. I believe his tenure laid the foundations and framework for today's growth and successes.
  21. The NCAA mailing office gave them the address.
  22. Given that the man has helped form the NCHC after the WCHA was abandoned by the Big Tenners, and he got UND into the Big Sky, all while dealing with the spectre of NCAA sanctions (due to the former moniker), I'd say he's earned it. Faison extended to June 2017
  23. Did you remember to drool into your keyboard after typing that to certify it the same way NDSU fans do.
  24. You folks missed the best spin: You wanted an incoming freshman class smaller than UND's? Uh, ... sure you did. Closing thought: I thought schools coming off championships saw large bumps in applications and incoming freshmen for the following one to three years.
