  1. Reasoned response. Fair. Considered. Thank you. In return: Even with Vernon Adams hurt, UND defeating EWU on the "red carpet" is very hypothetical. (UND couldn't get past #7 at home; #2 on the road is a huge task.)
  2. Although it can be much more anti-climactic, the pure analytic approach of the PWR in NCAA Hockey does clear things up regarding who is in or out of the playoffs.
  3. Although I didn't agree with PSU's time management I could see what they were doing: they wanted the TO for the offense because they'd been gashing with the run and wanted to keep that option (run) open to them.
  4. They'll Google it.
  5. The NCAA policy was "race, ethnicity, or national origin" based monikers. So ... Vandals* and Irish need go as well. *The Vandals were a Germanic tribe.
  6. Looking at state of play, I'd have figured gfhockey was with the offensive line.
  7. Simmons wrecked a shoulder early on. Shaugabay got hurt after that. That left it down to a smallish senior (Garman) and a converted LB (Norberg) who played FB in HS. There's a very good chance that the #1 RB in September 2015 may not be on the roster today.
  8. "... was charged Friday in Cass County District Court with one count of forgery, a Class C felony." http://www.inforum.com/content/former-ndsu-womans-lacrosse-player-accused-using-players-name-bank-job-forge-checks
  9. "Does not" is strong; "is not very likely without a lot of help" is on point. I think 7-5 could make it if some of the other leagues beat up on each other to similar records in conference play.
  10. Weekly GF Herald LiveChat: 2:38 Comment From Guest How many NDSU students does it take to vandalize a building? 2:38 Tom Miller, GF Herald: a herd. I don't know which is better, the question or the answer. Either way, bravo to both.
  11. Saw some gas prices that started with a "2" on a recent drive through Fargo.
  12. NDSU club team athlete ... http://www.inforum.com/content/former-ndsu-womans-lacrosse-player-accused-using-players-name-bank-job-forge-checks At least she's ahead of the NDSU homecoming court. They only got misdemeanors; she's moved up to a C felony.
  13. Who's going to help them count pages?
  14. A couple beat me to it: the area around the mines/power stations would have most of the same infrastructure as they have similar needs. Pipeline is a million a mile at least; but railroad (new track) is no cheaper per mile either. They're adding track to the N/S section along I-29 between Fargo and Grand Forks* and I believe that's the number I read (a million a mile). *Is that for that bullet train?
  15. Or, as darell calls it, "an average Tuesday night".
  16. OK, I'm cooled down (a bit) after that debacle on Friday night but the only reason is that they actually showed up and played, for most of a game, on Saturday. Maybe, just maybe, Friday was the wake-up call they needed before they ended up 4-7-1 and having to play every game like it was game 7. I'm interested in seeing which team goes to CC: Friday's or Saturday's.
  17. Some new news about the NDSCS's student case: The ND Attorney General is launching a review of the drug task force that made Mr. Sadek an informant. http://www.inforum.com/content/nd-attorney-general-seeks-independent-review-drug-task-force-accused-bullying-ndscs-student
  18. Bison in jail. Homecoming. It just seems like a natural fit.
  19. That's a bit oversimplified; but, when I think of simple I do think of you.
  20. I have to admit I noticed too many empty student seats last year. If they aren't filling them, why not sell the seats as GA seating? However, the minute I see a completely, consistently full student section and the students want more seats, yes, definitely. It's a delicate balance. What I'm more fearful is that in general (and it's seen nationally, see Michigan State FB for example) that students just aren't showing up like they used to. Is it demographics, specifically diversity? A more diverse student population may not have grown up with football (for example) and may not go. Is it demographics, specifically a more "student older than average" base? I thought I read somewhere that the general student population is getting slightly older (with more outside responsibilities). Is it generational? For this generation 3 hours of anything is an eternity. And especially when the focus is not on them. It's stereotypical but this recent AT&T commercial seems to sum part of it up well: " ... my new selfie got 100 likes, ... 100!" Ask the average college student today if they'd rather have that or be at a game and see Braden Hanson throw for 660 or see Jason Ulmer throw up a 3G-3A-6Pts line in a game.
  21. It's not "talk like a pirate day."
  22. Gas has traditionally been cheaper east of I-29 and more expensive west of I-29 in this region. Bismarck is usually a dime to twenty cents more than FM. GF is normally about a nickel to a dime more than FM. And east toward Bemidji from FM it drops at least a dime. You may see something new, but that's the pattern I've seen for probably 20 years.
  23. Noticed in the game program from the hockey exhibition that: "Tacks are back!" and "CCM is the official skate of North Dakota Hockey" Did a little looking: CCM (maker of Tacks) is owned by Reebok and Reebok is owned by Adidas.
  24. From what I've read, the guy with a good chance is redshirting right now.
