  1. I was once told by a high ranking Teammakers officer, "Fargo is a frontrunner town. When you win you don't have enough seats, when you lose you have twice as many as you need."
  2. If teams are going that far, you'd want to be able to get in two games: Bring back the Whalers as ... The Waikiki Whalers.
  3. I think the Community Forum needs a place to track news stories about people who've gone off the rails, into the ditch, and rolled (bursting into flames optional). The past few days it has to have been Anthony Weiner, but today I nominate ... Christopher Dewitt Craig, a former MBB assistant coach at Northern Colorado, the self-described “Islamist jihadist” who said Mormons and Catholics “would be destroyed” in the next two weeks. http://denver.cbslocal.com/2013/07/30/fort-collins-police-warn-of-self-described-islamist-jihadist/ Mr. Craig, seek help.
  4. OK, who, before that season, picked Peter Armbrust to captain the 2000 National Champions?
  5. You've hit on some of the key issues for (with?) Denver: - they are dead-set against being in a conference with certain teams, and Northern Colorado is high on that list, and that hurts them with the Big Sky - they have a rather (shall we politely say) eclectic mix of sport offerings that aligns well with no conference
  6. With Sac State and U No Colorado (fellow Big Sky schools), wasn't UND to WAC Baseball almost preordained? If DU and UNO can't see that ... One more notion: Will we see any moves before the "D4" leverage move by the Big Five conferences plays out?
  7. Considering Mollberg was one snap away from being on the field for UND last fall, and was taking most of the snaps for UND in spring ball, I'm not sure where you're coming from with the Vanderbilt reference. < Ferris Bueller "stop and look around" quote here >
  8. Your Summit Hockey notion has lots of moving parts (including having to have the MVFC play along). Wouldn't it be easier for the Summit to find a couple baseball affiliates (or get USD or DU to add the sport)? Ghastly as it would be for the Summit, NJIT baseball is available and would solve their issue. Last thought: Would the SUs and USD allow their futures be dictated by the evil that is ... < gasp > ... ice hockey.
  9. Simple questions: Where would EIU play? Their club team travels to Danville, IL, to practice and play home games. There's no rink in Charleston, IL. The trip is 70 miles one way. Who else would play "Summit Hockey" besides DU and UNO? EIU? That's three. Then ... who? St. Cloud? Duluth? Can either of those two make the jump to full Division I status to join the Summit? I guess I'm not seeing the numbers. Please explain how the numbers could work. My guess? EIU is moving from ACHA DII to ACHA DI.
  10. There's a lot of skepticism about the credibility of these reports in many quarters.
  11. http://chronicle.com/article/Lets-Give-the-Rich-and/139833/ Tick. Tock.
  12. I miss my conversations with opposing goaltenders. Well, conversations might not be the right word. I'd tell them various factoids about their lives and friends and girlfriends (and what their friends were doing with their girlfriends) and if they heard me or heard enough they'd reply in "sign language". My favorites were John Blue and Steven Wagner. I think they liked me. Both flashed me a sign that I've been told I should interpret as "I'm #1." The new tall glass in REA doesn't lend aid to a conversationalist like me.
  13. I've noticed my handwriting has degraded as I spend more time using technologies, not pens.
  14. The same crowd that put us in this < this space available > position would make that "Green Energy" in no time. Fail.
  15. A through D were based in reality. You fail and are awarded no credit.
  16. D) proceed to a police car back seat confessional about how your girlfriend is way out of their league.
  17. That list of commissioners sounds like the list of "the winners of the losers" if/when the top 70 get their way.
  18. http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2013-06-03/mark-emmert-ncaa-suggests-major-programs-break-away-fourth-division-saban Tick. Tock.
  19. When? When the top 70 or so get their private club on top and the leftovers (about 50 or so) need the top half of FCS to join up with them.
  20. Capiche. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/capiche Capiche?
  21. There is no Mafia. And we all just hang out in private social clubs. Capiche.
  22. Here is my re-affirmation of support for the use of the moniker "Mafia". Supporting arguments: http://forum.siouxsp...erfect-moniker/ PS - No skull caps ... Fedoras.
  23. Here's my guess as to why: The University of North Dakota < this space available > Putting "North Dakota" on the front of the jersey, that won't change; but, if a new moniker/logo are chosen it can be added at such time.
