Dean Blais is from International Falls, MN. I'm pretty sure he carries a US passport.

More to your point, ND is very different east to west. The five counties that border the Red River are very Minnesota-centric minded. They look to Minneapolis. By the time you get west to Bismarck the focus is split between Minneapolis and Denver; by the time you're to Dickinson Minneapolis is an afterthought, very Denver focused. The western part of the state is very proud of the TR history (see: Medora). Maybe we'd find another way to tie east to west better.

UND supports 21 DI programs; NDSU supports 16 DI programs. Pull the hockey budgets (M/W) out of UND, and UND is running 19 programs on a smaller budget than NDSU runs 16 programs on. Based on that, I'd have no problem at looking at UND's programs and making tough decisions. -
Well then call the National Park Service and get "Theodore Roosevelt National Park" renamed because all he did is squat there.

Will there ever be another US President who'll claim anything to do with North Dakota, much less that he'd have never been President if not for his time in North Dakota?

Hammer: Why not add in the non-common sports also (MW at NDSU; MIH, WIH, MS&D, WS&D, MTen, WTen)? -
That's the beauty of Cavalry -- it shows the epic stupidity of the NCAA's policy. Irony is a harsh mistress.
-
Not truly a "tax return" but IRS Form 990.
-
If you read the policy as written, it says no race, ethnicity, or national origin based names. Yes, if they read and enforced their own policy Irish and Vandals would be on the chopping block also.
-
OK, it's been 72+ hours since Brad Berry was announced ... and still no natty! Fire Bubbs?
-
Oh no ... we'd be "copying" U of Virginia ...
-
"Norse" breaks the NCAA rule (no race, ethnicity, or national origin based nicknames). At least the committee didn't think Norse was a horse (because they think Nokota is a tribe). I'd put "North Dakota" into the second tier. I consider each tier unordered and agree.

If it's Cavalry I'm a gettin' me one-a these.

Saskatchewan CFL: founded 1910 GFRRHS: founded 1967 Cedar Rapids USHL: founded 1983 Sioux Falls (SD) Roosevelt HS: founded 1991 You say copy. Apparently there's a lot of copy. Others say choosing the name given to the followers of the man who was ND's greatest advocate.

You need to have something Minnesota, like their state motto or state nickname, thrown into the mix.
-
Between that (flickertail = gopher) and the North Stars idea (Minnesota state motto) why don't we just rename the state to West Minnesota?
-
I'd vote Wild for the rhythm in saying it. North Da-ko-ta Wild No-ko-ta
-
Seems there are many things in that category.

Ames High School Cyclones in Ames, Iowa, home of the Iowa State Cyclones. Did I know that before I looked it up? Nope. Didn't care. Most folks outside of Grand Forks County will be the same regarding Roughriders.
