    I literally just took the "N" and "D" from the new wordmark, erased "orth" and "akota" and slid the D. The tweaks and clean-ups you bring up, that's where the pro takes over.

    No. I'd take the new wordmark on the jersey front (replacing the current boring font) and the new logo on the shoulders.

    Stand by. Blasphemy to follow: Some folks didn't like the Brien logo and wanted to stay geometric. < gasp! > Some folks didn't like the geometric and wanted to stay Blackhawk. < gasp!> And on, and on, and on. Change is hard.

    Pretty clear that Shanks and Pryor both had, at best shall we say, a muted response to the logo. And they did it diplomatically.

    Here's where I'm at: The Fighting Hawks name was a complete disappointment to me. It met none of the committee's criteria. However, given that, my expectations for a logo were set accordingly. By that standard (complete disappointment) this logo did slightly exceed those (albeit admittedly very low) expectations. Take the victories you can get I guess. But, I'm also a gracious loser. Fighting Hawks won. It's mine now. I accept it. Same goes for this logo. (I can live with it because I did try.)

    They'll cash the check, but this isn't great for their professional reputation and goodwill.

    You said, " ... for saying something the coaching staff didn't like ... " If Bubba is in "this is done and settled" mode, questioning that is publicly questioning a play call. (I'm not saying you couldn't go to him privately.)

    Part of me wonders if SME regrets ever bidding this job. It was no win.

    Tom Clifford: he didn't get signed agreements with the tribes and had the best relationships. No. No ... Leigh Jeanotte, rabble-rouser-supreme. No. No ... The NCAA. No. No ... Wayne Stenehjem? Bob Kelley? The Standing Rock and Spirit Lake tribes? I'm through trying to fix the blame (because there's more than enough to go around).

    < ding > Winner. Like I speculated earlier: Everyone knows this logo is going to be disliked not on its merits but because of the circumstance. It's a primary that I suspect will act as a secondary for a while and during that same time the North Dakota wordmark will serve as a primary. After another period of adjustment, who knows.

    Ben Brien's try was a-swing-and-a-miss. And blaming SME is foolish. The vote gave them chicken < bleep >, another "adjective hawk", and they had to try to make chicken salad.

    Well yeah. I'd guess someone called them on the obvious "out of context" journalism.

    Gage could've said way more with: "We're wearing the same style as our 2016 championship jersey this season ... and I'm glad."

    KFGO is notorious for taking quotes slightly out of context. (Wouldn't be to generate clicks and ratings ... nah ... )

    Someone should let the lads know that at times silence, the well timed and well placed pregnant pause, can say far more than words.
