NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)
The Sicatoka replied to Cratter's topic in Community
Frankly, I'm glad to see private developers doing that development. Why? It shows the private sector sees building around UND as a good investment: Boden, that monster complex north of Alerus, the combined use buildings west of campus (like where Red Pepper West is with apartments above). Alternatively, if the building is built by the university, the State is on the hook to pay for it if it doesn't self-sustain. -

< whistling past > FLIP ... < thump onto front porch > < whistling away > PS - Part VIII of that link is a good read. Sean is the grandson who dropped a puck. PPS - Part XV (in the main doc and a bunch of continuation sheets at the end) shows who Ralph's estate donated to. PPPS - Form 990 is a fabulous thing. -

Always remember and never forget: Kennedy is first and foremost a politician. He knows how to work a situation and a room. When it's happening it may look wrong to you, but you and I seldom see the end game the politician sees. -
You'd be better off trying to convince the Summit League and National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) to merge administrative structures under one roof. UND and DU were the driving force to formation of the NCHC. Omaha is an original member. I don't see that breaking up any time soon as the NCHC (UND, DU, Duluth) has won the last three NCAA DI titles. Want to ensure the Summit keeps its MBB autobid? Start Summit League football. Done.

Let me make one statement about that news story: It all came from one side of the conversation. The other side was a simple press release. -
So perfect score would be: Depart: Wolanin, Gersich Arrive: Bernard-Dockter, Hain, Huber, Keane, Scheel, Tychonick, & Weatherby To my quick review stoney and BIZ tie for first.

You want an LT and a BB4? Um, that's four LBs, two TEs, and a reserve QB, and you probably have to toss in a soccer striker. You want the extended warranty option with that too?

Well, not exactly. The news report said: What the news report did NOT say; what you speculate is this portion: And your speculation is tenuous at best. The NDUS is on record saying that they were staying out of the matter. Next, REA wouldn't become a property tax issue for GF. It'd become an issue for the State as they'd own it. Finally, UND is managing their money; that said, they're having to do some unpopular things (in some quarters) because there's not enough money. -

What's the hardest thing in the world to do? Trust. What do leaders do? Hand over responsibilities and expectations and then trust people to achieve. Kennedy walking out of that room tells me he understood the situation (he'd become a distraction) and trusted his people to get what he came for. We'll find out one way or another when "the ink dries". -

The "IMHO" tells me its someone's perceptions. Reality? TBD. -
Exchange rate? Can I get a left tackle for three linebackers and a tight end?

Only knock I can put on Randklev: He makes Rocco Grimaldi seem big and bulky.

I've seen that technique before, namely, when one person knows they are a disruptive or distracting influence in a negotiation they step out. I had a boss do that to me one time. It works. The other side feels like they've won (got "that person") out of the room before they even start talking. In my case I'd been briefed on "musts and wants". Before excusing themself, my boss explained they had been called to their boss' office (a bit of a fib) and that I would have to stand in as negotiator, but I had full authority to make decisions. I walked out with all the musts and about half the wants and yet the other side thought they'd hornswaggled me. -

Don't laugh too hard, but some campuses view trees in parking areas as a security risk. They provide hiding places and blind spots for security cameras. -

TR said the following words about American Indians in a speech in January 1886 in South Dakota, That would not end well. The only thing to work against that would be the members of Standing Rock that said UND should be the Roughriders. Yup, Ron His Horse Is Thunder said so: -

I loved the name; I accept that it would be just about as easy of a target in today's political climate as the old nickname. -

As a guy who supported that name to the bitter end, I will tell you you are missing one drawback: In today's politically charged environment someone would find one thing about TR (the origin of that name) that is untoward by today's standards and it all would come apart. In light of that reality we are left with mundane and milquetoast, also known as inherently safe. -
I thought he's chillin' in the 'boro also.

Again, I've linked to the Form 990s for the related entities --> PREGO! It's in there. As I recall, the only folks drawing compensation are folks that should be (i.e. the general manager and the accountant/CFO of the arena). Form 990 for 2017 for REA-related organizations ....UND Arena Services EIN: 14-1846178 UND Sports Facilities EIN: 36-4511153 Ralph Engelstad Arene EIN: 11-3666663 See Part VII of the form.
