  1. I can accept that. I'm used to (as hockey fan) expecting to lose top end talent as sophomores and expect the team to plan accordingly. In fairness, one thing that hurt UND Hockey in recent years was Tyson Jost bailing after a freshman season. (It blipped the pipeline and it hurt his development.)
  2. Why are players transferring out of the perennial best team in the nation? Jumping to pro money? Sure. But transfer? That doesn't make sense.
  3. Unless my recollections are shot (very possible, and too lazy to look at records)... - Wentz played for an injured Jensen. - Stick played for an injured Wentz. Pipeline.
  4. Stauss goes down, Jensen comes off the sideline (not next year, the sideline). Jensen goes down, Wentz comes off sideline. Wentz goes down, Stick comes off sideline. Stick goes down, Lance comes off sideline. If any of those guys had bolted (save for Lance) it really was "next man up"; the early departure plan was already brewed in. But where's the guy to come off the sideline for Lance? NDSU has had a marvelous QB plan/pipeline for a decade, but there's a hole after Lance (unless it's VT guy this fall and it may well be). What changed? Somebody broke from the NDSU QB plan.
  5. Having the next man ready in "next man up" is a plan, the plan. NDSU does have 2s and 3s on the depth chart, yes? And a recruits pipeline? Reference: Jensen -> Wentz -> Stick -> Lance -> _______
  6. I guess national television on CBSSN will have to do.
  7. NDSU fans telling UND fans about impacts of "early departures" ... um, oh-kay ... and yeah, not so much football, but UND Hockey fans are well aware of the concept. And it can be planned for and worked around. So while I understand the problem of a departure, isn't the motto "next man up"?
  8. While folks try to sort 3, 24, and 26 ... 15 and 25 ... the Fargo-Moorhead Marvels ... would likely be top pair on many college teams. (25 and 26 are Team USA's High Plains Drifters. )
  9. Hain was -2 against SCSU (on for first two SCSU goals). <-- His PPG does not count in plus/minus stats. Bast would've been -3 but was on for Gaber's first, so only -2. http://www.collegehockeystats.net/2021/boxes/mndkstc1.m16
  10. 11. The Wearing of the Green ... not sure where I got that idea today ...
  12. When did that happen?
  13. Knowing how 2 and 4 were against DU, I'm surprised 20 wasn't the extra skater last night.
  14. The lead custodian at the Capital building?
  15. Three UND guys were +2 last night: Kawaguchi, Adams, ... Frisch
  16. That scares me that they have fallen into the trap of believing they can do that all the time. I have no problem with "turning it on" ... but how about against Miami style and bury the opponent five minutes in. Doing that makes everything better -- roll lines, rest the top six.
  17. It's going to sound trivial to some of you, but, can we refer to the WBB leader as "Coach Bernhard" now that the interim is off. Let's do that out of respect ... and to set the expectation for the new, no longer interim, coach. (Yes, we have Bubs and Bubba, but even Hakstol was Hak and not Dave, and Coach Lennon was Coach, not Dale.)
  18. < bleep > wireless keyboard has started eating batteries. I'm missing about 4 of every 100 keystrokes.
  19. Thinking back to the CBSSN shot from the corner where he made the hit and and how he was holding that arm as he immediately went off I thought "shoulder" but now ponding ... possible ...
  20. Welcome to "Stogies and Scotch" where you, the player at home, get to be just like the NCAA Mens Ice Hockey selection committee in 2021 and light up a stanky 'cee-gar', pour the single malt, and make outrageously homer-ish yet completely inexplicable selections to the 16 team field. The rules: Pick the 16 mens teams to make the field this year. That is all. Don't even put them in regions: Just pick the correct 16 teams (one point per team). Of your 16, name the four regional #1 seeds (one point per). Score the most points and you'll be labeled the 2021 champion (and take home the much desired COVID Cup). Obviously your selections must be in before the actual selections are made. Have at it.
  21. I humbly give you ... Learfield College/IMG College - Sync My Game (UND games are officially Learfield broadcasts.)
  22. Radio pregame Hennessy said Budy was "healthy scratch" which "surprised" him because "he played well vs Miami."
  23. Watch that replay -- as you say the 26 -> 14 -> 10 was superb; but, also note that 15 called for the puck right before 10 for it and 15 had coverage for a bad pass backed up at the blue line. Those are subtle little plays you don't normally notice until they aren't done correctly.
  24. Does anyone believe they'll take a team with an under 0.500 record?
