  1. It better; it's all we have.
  2. Bank it.
  3. Full disclosure: @SpudsSioux clued me in on what to look for. Boris seems like he could and would wear your blades to the tuuk in one practice.
  4. Ya thinkin' there'll be a "Grizzly" Sather with a hawk sighting soon?
  5. Seems one of our pipeline has found a new skating guru (scroll, you'll find it). Some guy in TOR named Matthews subscribes also.
  6. Admittedly a tough crowd.
  7. https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2023/wm18 The Fresh Prince ... of Lexington MA, Will Smith, is the scoring leader through five games. (Going to BC.)
  8. Bad mental game -> mite hockey -> untimely penalties Like The Fixx says ...
  9. I agreed with Sandy ("sure"). His dad was "Ethan's aunts" for him. Both came as strong power skaters. But my brain wasn't thinking Sanderson because I've been watching this season's replays on Midco and Sandy is a Senator now.
  10. Someone in my section was calling it "mite hockey". Just like mites they'd all get hypnotized by, and chase, the puck. Nothing good ever comes of that.
  11. Were they strong on their skates at the same time? Sandy, sure, but a 21-NHL-season dad had that in him when he arrived. Jandric, so so. OMac and Blake can make some jaw-dropping moves, but a stiff breeze knocks each over. The flip side is I really haven't seen skating improvement in Kunz or Albrecht or Ness or Jamernik. Schmaltz did get a little better year two; he got hard to move or knock down. I'll be watching Strinden in year two for skating improvements.
  12. Four seconds into this video UND15 is on edges and gets hit by UAH11. UAH11 is literally shrugged off. How many guys on the roster on their edges can absorb that hit much less deliver back enough to knock the other guy down. That's why I'm calling for power skating to become a point of emphasis.
  13. I'm not claiming that we're not doing it. It needs to return to being a focus, a point of emphasis because I don't see the power skating skills across the team like I did on past squads.
  14. Me, hoping for new info here:
  15. I don't know. I believe power skating needs to return to focus. The Ironman seems to be the focus of late. If that's the case, some power skating skills need to be added to the competition to make guys realize skating is as important as strength and endurance. It doesn't matter how strong you are if you can't get to the puck. The only recent guy I recall with above average edge work was Ethan Frisch. He'd do an edge drill at the start of each period. He grew up with aunts who were professional figure skating coaches. Edge work. Power skills.
  16. Pssst .... I'd watch yourself skating past the blue paint ... goalies have long memories. Goalie-Think by @Wilbur: It'd be a shame if the big battle axe got you on the ankle bone while you're standing too close.
  17. If Croal and Boisvert were top 60 at 0.79, Livanavage must've just missed at 0.75. Croal hanging that number is a bit of a surprise.
  18. "C'mon Spiewak! ... " https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/a862d317-a946-4580-af01-9565deeb097b https://fightinghawks.com/news/2009/2/9/3666657.aspx Can we get any comment from @Speez ?
  19. I believe those will be FB offices over the Hawkway from the Village to the Pollard. Great view of the field. The DU house looks like it's going where the DU house was: Immediately west of Walsh. The black shutter, window, roofline of the neighbor plus the light pole and tree on the boulevard are good landmarks. They get a lanai* overlooking the English Coulee. https://www.google.com/maps/@47.9234829,-97.0754148,3a,75y,311.39h,97.31t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1swPza3dVTQpAj2OA3ushwjg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 *It sounds way-cooler when you use the Hawaiian term for patio.
  20. This may be melodramatic ... however, last night may have significant Cup ramifications. If BOS had won last night they're resting; instead they may end up going seven and TOR could be the team watching their next round opponent play while they rest. If Marchand had scored with 2 seconds left I'd say BOS is on cruise control to a Cup. It is a very different world right now for BOS.
  21. That bottom half bird cage threw me off. That’s why the call to the review booth!
  22. Need a @geaux_sioux "fishbowl" criteria ruling here. The decision will determine if the NYI will win the Stanley Cup thanks to Brock Nelson. https://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey/islanders/brock-nelson-islanders-face-shield-a2ygvohx
  23. That's how they decided to go fer it. Turned out golden for them.
  24. Was watching live ... had sympathetic pain from 1500 miles. " ... just 5 or 6 stitches ... " ... < cringe > ...
  25. Continued reliance* on the portal in a post- "extra Covid year" world will be a signal he's not recruiting like he should be. *Reliance, not occasional use in the case of an exceptional opportunity.
