2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
The Sicatoka replied to AlphaMikeFoxtrot's topic in Men's Hockey
What they bring in as 8D will tell us what they think now of McInnis and Ausmus in a year. Pehrson and Pyke --> Strathmann and Jubenvill (fall '24). Bring in 8D as one year rental and it shows they're thinking Ausmus or McInnis will be ready. Bring in a guy with more than a year left and it's a different story (and Ausmus and McInnis come fall '25). An 8D with two years left would not surprise me. -
What? You didn't like sitting three to a space for two in the bleachers in an arena with temperature somewhere between "sauna" and "purgatory"? The Al is far better for commencements than Hyslop could ever be.

Spring commencement is normally 4x or more of Winter commencement. If you can hold Winter in the CFA at no rental cost, you do. The Alerus doesn't do yesterday for free.

The "C" would've been Frisch had he stayed. My guess from most to least likely is Gaber, LouieJam, Schmaltz. Pehrson and Pyke have to prove a ton (build relationships and trust) over a summer and fall camp to garner consideration even through they come in with solid history. Remember: Connor Ford came in as a former BGSU captain and didn't get a letter until circumstance nearly forced it during second half. -
A pod cast and live radio ... definitely not the same.

Call Ryan Reynolds and his pals and put a group together to get the Saskatoon franchise if you think it's a winning proposition.

Toronto needs to tear it all down, GM, coach, roster. Trade assets that'll be FAs in a year or two now and get pieces to build a roster that's more than four guys*. Market, interest, media, Toronto should be the New York Yankees of the NHL; instead they are the Minnesota Twins. *They have $40M tied up in four guys and nearly $50 in five. That's not functional if they don't perform when it matters.

Tell me you don't understand balance sheets without telling me you don't understand balance sheets. There aren't 16 Canadian markets to support teams. The #16 market is Saskatoon ... which is FMWF sized.

Saw the photo of UND graduating student athletes yesterday and two big GPAs were in the back row (Frisch, Caulfield).

Yes and no. The OVC announced men's soccer starting this fall. The OVC teams (including LU) playing in the Summit are going there. And now they take WIU. Summit men's soccer is five.

< pssst > .... football ... -
You're not in trouble in the playoffs until you lose at home. Fargo is in trouble x 2 ... in a best of five.

I heard Sunday Minnesota put up 7s in the third and eighth. Cousins to Jefferson each time? But I thought the NFL only played one OT. How'd they get a TD in the eighth quarter? What's that? ... Huh? ... Twins?
-
And one more thing ... No Politics. Thank you.

All that, much of which you accuse of another, to get to a thesis statement I do agree with.
-
WIU leaving makes Summit football more difficult. Just the UxDs and xDSUs plus Pioneer StT ... unless the Summit took over MVFC operations.
-
Summit mens soccer is now down to five. That means Summit doesn't have enough fully sponsored mens sports (six teams minimum). Wonder what Fenton is thinking now.

TAMPERING!!!

https://goleathernecks.com/news/2023/5/12/athletics-department-leatherneck-athletics-moving-to-ohio-valley-conference-for-all-sports.aspx Gone from Summit now. Gone from MVFC in a year.

NIL: Name Image Likeness NLI: National Letter of Intent Terrible they're that close. It's like explaining RPI at RPI.

Spotting two goals and having to play from behind is not good strategy in May or June.

Three guys: - 2 NBA titles as player - 6 NBA titles as assistant coach - 12 NBA titles as head coach (11 / 1 split) < words here about two trips to NCAA DII Final Four > I'd guess Duke, or UNC, or Kansas, or UCLA, has a similar "greats" or "historic" photo, but that much in one snap is pretty rare.

The name was familiar so I dug ... His dad is Bliss Littler, winningest juniors coach around and current GM of Wenatchee (BCHL). Bliss Littler is a Minot native and Minot State grad.

Does it have to be players? Can it be former coaches?
