  1. No posting. Ulmer still listed as "volunteer" but has @UND.edu email so would guess he'd have the inside lane if they do an internal hire. What I learning in looking for that is this: https://fightinghawks.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/roster/staff/john-fitzgerald-phd/2072
  2. The more I look at this it does make sense in one way: UND had no SWA and no bench. You can't run with that position open too long (NCAA takes notice). They need a solution, a stop-gap. Chaves and Uncle Andy start looking through phone contacts. Andy: Well there's Liz. She was SWA/AAD at USAFA when I was Faculty Dean there ... wonder what she's doing ...
  3. That's actually more curious. Allegations against S&D coach. Fire the AD. Then investigate the S&D coach and find ... nothing. So the AD was sent packing ... why?
  4. Like I said, why Grand Forks and not Boca or Mesa* (and thinking retirement)? Just seems odd. We clearly needed an SWA and she does have connections, so there's that. *It's not like her husband is AGM/AC of the Arizona Rattlers.
  5. Wait a minute ... - hired as SIU AD in 2019 - fired by SIU in Sep 2021 - SWA at Valpo in Dec 2021 - promoted at Valpo in Aug 2022 - hired by UND in June 2023 Sep 2021 to Jun 2023 is quite a run. And for fun, compare the Valpo directory page to UND's release. https://www.valpoathletics.com/athletics/staff/12541/liz-jarnigan/
  6. I find this to be a most curious hire. She's been in athletics leadership for 35 years. "Jethro Bodine" math says she's at least age 55, probably closer to 60. That sounds more like "moving to Boca to retire" than "moving to GF to be SAAD/SWA". Unless this is a hire for her connections (she's been a few places). https://fightinghawks.com/news/2023/6/1/general-und-athletics-announces-hiring-of-liz-jarnigan.aspx EDIT: Doing some looking at the website staff listing, Chaves didn't have someone ready in the bullpen to step up to be the SWA. That's a strategic error on his part.
  7. I took a slash from him in a pick-up game. A pick-up game.
  8. This in Mandan is solid. https://starionsportscomplex.com/
  9. So something like ... https://www.fargoparks.com/foundation/fargo-sports-complex Better details of the final things going in: https://www.fargoparks.com/parks-and-facilities/fargo-parks-sports-complex
  10. Can Team Makers do NIL? Their statement of purpose on their 2020 Form 990 (pg 2) is written loose enough I'd say yes, but I'm not a lawyer or the IRS. "To provide financial support, promotion and spirit for our student athletes and the NDSU Athletic Department in order to achieve excellence." https://pdf.guidestar.org/PDF_Images/2020/456/014/2020-456014085-202123169349302862-9.pdf?_gl=1*1508nvt*_ga*MTgwNTc1NzQ2MC4xNjg0NzYwODY1*_ga_5W8PXYYGBX*MTY4NTYyMjgxNS4zLjEuMTY4NTYyMjg1OC4xNy4wLjA.&_ga=2.20996667.120522906.1685545025-1805757460.1684760865
  11. You couldn't build Alerus today for under $150M I suspect.
  12. Television schedules rule the world. FS1 needed a noon Eastern game.
  13. Fargo or Grand Forks? Correct Answer: Both. Tu-Yuen's problem? Nobody in J-school told him his job was to transcribe official press releases. He actually thought he was supposed to be and behave like a real investigative journalist.
  14. 100% clear Hobie's in Grand Forks this fall.
  15. Just an observation: This UConn fellow does not look "thick" and "developed" like most guys playing at that level.
  16. At mention of "east coast markets" people tend to howl about Rutgers in the B1G; it's one-dimensional thought. Conferences want multi-dimensional fits: academics, athletics, demographics. See: B1G and BTAA.org.
  17. So there's still hope you'll see the light. ForumComm papers (other than sports) have become far below par. I really miss Tu-Yuen Tran.
  18. So is Wahzamahtah U going to be on that list soon?
  19. We've already done the "skate sharpener" jokes. -> The person or the machine, ... or both. Mankato players this fall: "Hey, where's my water bottle?"
  20. "Alaska-Fairbanks, the AAA affiliate of North Dakota, ... "
  21. TeamMakers and their gambling site Playmakers is the "that", yes.
  22. https://www.grandforksgov.com/home/showpublisheddocument/47674/638191595078670000 There's mention of the "land taxes" on 9 of 12. I'd expect (<-- supposition by me) Burian and Assoc is the owner based on MVI. Dan, because we know you'd never sully yourself and visit GF or UND, MVII is going onto a parking lot that is an eyesore. And yes, that is possible.
